The transmission model for this car is the 722.423. Six 13mm bolts attach the trans pan to the housing - drain plug is 14mm Use approved fluid ONLY!! Adjust the barrel adjuster counterclockwise to hold onto gears longer and increase acceleration power - Throttle should also be adjusted to correct position - consult a professional if needed!

The car has been plagued with low power and jerky/hard shifts between all gears (1-2, 2-3. and 3-4) - automatic downshift gear changes have been smooth. I'm reinstalling the vacuum line into the vacuum modulator and adjusting the vacuum modulator cap from a 8:00 position to a 6:00 position to smooth out the jerkiness of the gear changes. Replacing several burned out cluster bulbs today - The steering wheel DOES NOT need to come off to do this - bring patience and WD40. The wattage of each bulb needed is stamped on the back of the instrument cluster - 1.2w for most of the bulbs - 2.0w for the speedo and tachometer.

Another testament to German Engineering - 1996 Mercedes C220 turned 200,000 miles NOTE: The rattling in the audio is NOT the car!! I had the windows partially down and was traveling through some traffic when I shot this video.

1996 C220 W202 - I replaced the driver's seat cushion It was not in terrible condition but was starting to crack and the seams are starting to pull apart. Passenger-side and driver's-side seat cushions are interchangeable!! NOTE: E12 Bolts secure the seat to the floor; 17mm bolt attaches the seat belt to the seat Thanks Fupabox!!!
1996 C220 - Sunroof Drain cleanout

I had water pooled up in the front passenger footwell this winter after an exceptionally hard rain. I originally thought this was due to a leaky door gasket. The solution was to clean out the sunroof drains.

Why don't you use a pointer stick so we can see what you are attempting to show us.
I had the same problem and it ended up being the magnetic cam shaft attenuator. The round thing at the top front of the engine. Easy easy fix
so, you thought to start after youve removed the cluster?? That is why i came on here

Never trust those cement blocks, they crush like eggs the way you set them, only flat how they suppose to lay they sustain a lot bigger weight... But straight down... If one of your wheels/ramp would fail that would be a diagonal force that would brake the blocks like wood sticks... You put them there for pice of mind that won't work... :). The way you set them they hold like a pocker cards castle... The ramps should hold 2 tons each one... So you should be more than safe...
Headgasket what a joke, fuel line, or spark loss is your problem. Why would the Headgasket makes it wobble, no ways.
It's happening to me now. Plugs are all working fine, fuel supplying well. But once you engage the gear, the engine goes off, no mater how you trotle.

I have a p0177 and a p0170 It shifts hard I replaced both o2 censors Maf Egr And check engine still comes on ?☹️ Bank one fuel trim?! I’ve takin it to several shops they don’t FIX IT I can’t pass smog what do you think it is? I’m thinking new fuel rod Plugs And injectors
Try running a half tank of 91 or better octane fuel on freeway Since you replaced maf and egr then it sounds like maybe short distance driving has built up residue in the throttle body The hard shift for mine was clutches wearing out in the tranny
96 benzman yea the Benz shop has connected a “vacuum line” that smoothed the shifting But it apparently comes off everytime they do it But everytime I take it in they clear the code connect the vacuum and repeat I’m not sure what line they keep connecting but I’m sure that isn’t the cause of the code on going to try the injectors cleanse and see how it goes
96 benzman it turned out to be the tranny line to manifold that wasn’t connected (hardshift) smoke test verified it. Check engine light still came on after 😡 shifts smooth now though

My car 1994 C220 just got slipping 3 months ago. But I do not want to spend too much time and money to fix it. So I am looking for any lubricate oil to bring it back. And I did found a liquid not oil based to fixing my car. The liquid is nano molecule and base like water. It is only 20cc to fill into the transmission tank. Cost me about USD 150.- It works like a magic!
Thank you for the video. I am changing my W202 chasis '94 C280 this weekend. I was planning on draining the torque converter. Did you have a magnet in the pan or place one on the outside?
If you look at where that cable goes there are index marks that you are supposed to line up while the engine is at idle...

are you a real mechanic I don't think you are transmission fluid is that color because the clutches are burning out in transmission

Hi 96 benzman, what was causing the wobble?
Bad belt tensioner. Replaced the tensioner and replaced the belt and that fixed the problem

How much fluid did you fill it with after just dropping the pan?
Just the amount that drains out - I had about 2 quarts US

I have a 94’c200. The cable look the dame but i need to know if i’m right: screw the cable to shift Earlier, unscrew to shift latte. Is it correct? I have also another question: sometimes the car don’t shift down when i press the accelerator, it happen when i’m driving at 60,70 kmh and after a brake (to make a round for example) it would be good if the car shift down 1 gear. Any idea?
@@ell7851 you understand it correctly. This old auto gearbox is not very smart. Sometimes you have to activate the kickdown button to make the car downshift. I believed it is normal.

The sheet spec for the 1996 W202 is 236.14 - Mercedes ATF 134 is compatible with this Check this at a dealer if your spec is 236.6 or .7
