  • I have an engine wobble after replacing the head gasket.
    MAF sensor was new and fuel filter had already been replaced. Both motor mounts and tranny mount have been replaced with new parts.
    Trying to track down cause

    I had the same problem and it ended up being the magnetic cam shaft attenuator. The round thing at the top front of the engine. Easy easy fix

    UPDATE: Since I had NO MIL light indicating problems on this issue, I determined that my issue was either spark, air, or fuel - Duh!!
    Since I had replaced the MAF sensor less than a year ago with a Bosch, I ruled out air.
    So - things I replaced/fixed were:
    1. Replaced both coil packs - both were original parts so it was definitely time to replace them anyway
    2. Replaced Fuel Pressure Regulator - again, original part so it was time for replacement
    3. New Fuel Filter - OEM this time instead of a cheapo from O'Reilly's Auto Parts
    4. Replaced Voltage Regulator - This part was definitely going out - the brushes on the old part were worn down to about half the size of the new part brushes.
    After doing all this, there was a considerable improvement in the idling of the car - I still have a slight wobble and am going through vacuum lines with a tester to identify if I have a leak that may be causing it.

    hello, you said that you replaced the head gasket. If your timing chain is off by 1 tooth it is possible to cause the wobble. check timing again

    I am chasing the same issue. I have found the wiring harness is shot. Biodegradable insulation.
    Was curious if you found any other issues/

      +Chris Futch - My wiring harness had been replaced with the new version prior to buying this car.
      I'll be replacing the EGR valve this week and shortly after that I'll replace the belt tensioner and belt tensioner shock - We'll see if that completely smooths out the idle.

    If i may ask a small favour, at 1:09, the green vacuum line coming out of the intake manifold, could you please direct me as to where it goes? my car is missing that line and im trying to locate the origin of it.

    • @andrewfitzpatrick2689
      @andrewfitzpatrick2689  Před 7 lety +2

      The green vacuum line runs through the wiring loom up under the windshield washer fluid reservoir and finally connects to the EGR vacuum solenoid. Just pull off the washer fluid reservoir ( be careful of the throttle cable) and you can see it
      If you're missing this vacuum line then you may have poor fuel economy or acceleration issues or possibly a MIL light (Check Engine Light)on your instrument cluster.

      96 benzman ive had a look.but cant seem to find mainly due to the green line missing completley. ive taken the windshield fluid reservoir out and cant find anything that looks like it takes a vaccum line. what does the Egr look like?

      96 benzman thanks for the reply!, it seems as my car may be missing the egr solenoid altogether. heres a photo of me taking the washer tank out. this is quite strange haha have u heard of this before? this is an australian model btw

      @andrewfitzpatrick2689  Před 7 lety +1

      Here in the States (especially in CA) the emissions regs require EGR - I'm not sure how Australia handles that, but Daimler would have put mounting hardware in the space below the WW reservoir if they intended for the EGR solenoid to mount there - I didn't see that in your photo.
      So, if you have a vacuum nipple on your IM but no attached vacuum line, I'd start by reading your codes - a vacuum leak that large would definitely generate a code and turn on your MIL.
      But if no vacant vacuum nipple, then no worries - I'd think it's just a difference in manufacturing the same car for two different countries.

    Headgasket what a joke, fuel line, or spark loss is your problem. Why would the Headgasket makes it wobble, no ways.
