Soybean Fungicide Timing
When is the right time to make a fungicide application? Southeast Indiana Pioneer Field Agronomist Jason Geis says the goal is to protect the upper canopy, and to do so, you have to be patient and get the latter half of R3 or even R4. What he likes to do is wait until there are 16 nodes to help ensure canopy protection.

Protecting Against White Mold in Soybeans
zhlédnutí 544Před dnem
Is white mold in soybeans a concern this year? If the field has a history of white mold, it is a concern every year. A soil-borne fungal disease that can be difficult to get rid of completely. Wet conditions, cool temperatures and full crop canopy can all lead to white mold outbreaks. Studies have shown that the best defense against white mold is two fungicide applications. Unusual Leaf Feeding? Could be Red Headed Flea Beetle
zhlédnutí 282Před 21 dnem
Noticing some unusual leaf feeding in your fields? As Pioneer Field Agronomist Matt Montgomery explains, it could be red headed flea beetles. Red headed flea beetles are a leaf beetle in the family Chrysomelidae and are distantly related to bean leaf beetle and corn rootworms. While not detrimental to yield, like any other pest, it can negatively impact a plant by munching on its leaves. For mo...

How Can I Prevent Nitrogen Loss?
zhlédnutí 441Před měsícem
Why are my stands uneven and corn plants yellowing? The most common answer is nitrogen. And as Eric Rice, Pioneer Field Agronomist, explains, nitrogen leaching or denitrification. When nitrogen is applied well in advance of crop uptake, it is more susceptible to loss through natural soil processes. Nitrate tests can help growers determine if they're losing nitrogen, and if additional nitrogen w...
Slug Damage to Corn and Soybeans
zhlédnutí 370Před měsícem
Slugs, bugs and other annoying pests can wreak havoc in fields throughout a crop's lifecycle. As Pioneer Field Agronomist Jonathan Rotz explains, moist, high residue environments are a slug’s delight. Slugs are sporadic pests of corn primarily associated with no-till practices and heavy crop residue. But how can growers combat them and keep their fields slug-free? To learn more about preventing...

Traits to Combat European Corn Borer
zhlédnutí 268Před měsícem
European corn borer was once one of the most destructive pests of corn in North America; however, it’s impact has declined with the widespread adoption of Bt corn. Matt Montgomery, Pioneer Field Agronomist, discusses how populations are still present, and outbreaks can still occur and cause significant yield losses in unprotected corn. And while insecticides can help, selecting the right traits...
Iron Deficiency Chlorosis in Soybeans
zhlédnutí 137Před měsícem
Iron deficiency chlorosis (IDC) is a challenge for soybean farmers in several regions of North America. Soil properties can influence the severity of IDC in a field, including carbonate levels, salts, and drainage. Gib Ellis, Pioneer Field Agronomist, discusses soybean varieties for high pH soils and the importance of selecting soybean varieties with good iron chlorosis tolerance to manage IDC....
Delayed Soybean Planting and Maximizing Yield

With many growers still unable to plant their soybean crop, Eric Rice, Pioneer Field Agronomist, offers advice and words of encouragement for growers worried about late-planted soybeans. While late-planted soybeans will need extra focus throughout the growing season, yield should not be impacted too much by planting date. For more information on late-planted soybean management, visit: www.pione...
Scouting for Corn Diseases and Timing Fungicide Applications
zhlédnutí 187Před měsícem
The most important factor determining the value of a foliar fungicide application is disease pressure. Foliar diseases can occur anywhere corn is grown in North America but are more common in the warmer, more humid growing areas of the South and East. Gib Ellis, Pioneer Field Agronomist, discusses the importance of scouting fields for diseases like leaf blight and Southern Rust. Early detection...

I’m a horticulturist in Rome, Ga. Please read this. 2021 and 2022 in spring the days were 75F but 2 nights got to 80F ALL vegetables stopped growing. Tomatoes, corn, okra, squashes, everything just stopped. Did not die did not grow. Just stood still. Immature fruit rotted on the plants. You wouldn’t notice for a few weeks but I knew what the warm nights would do. The county farmers market suffered as well but they would not talk with me…(u know …age old horticulturist vs farmers crap) In town worse I think from micro climate heat sink. Past 2 years ok sort of… If not familiar look up Plant DIF…old Hort technique to control floral crops before hormones My name is Jimmy Greer and I stand by my observations Good luck

Please where can I buy pioneer corn seeds in the United States?
Great Music, Can I have the Name of the Music????
Clearly, plenish wants to ruin people's health without knowing? Olive oil is more costly and companies want the most profit possible. Your soybean oil is ruining food and humans keep consuming it
I remember going to the county fair growing up in Iowa and the Future Farmers of America used to have a safety demo where you would sit in a wooden box and they would fill it with shell corn up to your chest and then tell you to stand up. You couldn't stand up no matter how hard you tried. The goal was to demonstrate how dangerous moving grain was and how little it took to trap someone and how it would take several people to literally dig you out.
OMG I never know it would be that difficult! Remind me the movie Dressmaker ! Tedy jumped into it by mistake and died ! Now I know why ! Horrific!
Why can't they just pull her out? I know you can't do that to someone stuck in mud or you'll rip them apart, but grains have air around them so shouldn't create any suction.
How far are the ears off the ground

thanks, i only have a small maize bed, but i have compaction and it didn't occure to me i can solve it by watering the soil instead of tilling it.

Best fungicide for wheat..?? I m from bharat..
how to heal?please
how to heal?please
No options? It's interesting to hear his take but there are options. So the problem can be solved by wildlife management. You can apply for damage permits, you could offer to pay hunters a amount per head or offer free hunting leases in exchange for populatin control. Legally of course, you may need to talk to the dnr in your area. Around us a guy had 30 woodchuck holes in his feild making a royal mess so he offered a hunter $10 for every confirmed kill and yes all Legally. In texas farmers are paying hunters to kill hogs. So racoon hunters have dwindled because a racoon once worth $25 is now worth $2-$5 so guys quit hunting. Give incentive make hunting worth while. No different than making farming worth while.
Erect growth…
I have just a 3 acre parcel that I wanna plant with a good seed(corn) is there something you can recommend?thank you

Love that pioneer drip. Lemme get a black hat lol.
I've never seen any method of grain silo rescue, and hearing about how much pressure is on you when partially (or fully) covered, it sounds like rescue technology like this is really needed. I would just add that they might need something for the dust, in case it gets unbreathable for someone in distress.
My maize has brought tassel corn at early stage will plan come true or i count a loss ready🙆🏼 thank you
Is this a common enough occurrence to warrant the equipment?
Unfortunately, yes. There were 22 cases of people trapped in grain in the US in 2022.
If it saves a life! Then yes.
Hopefully, the focus on this kind of accident and the expense of protecting against it will encourage people who handle grain to find some way to manage it without having people walking on it.
Glad to see videos like this!
Aaanndd shes dead....slow people that dont look like they really know what they are doing. In a real time crisis situation the victim would be totally screwed.
It's like she didn't even try...
She can't really, u get stuck.
Omg bitch stfu about Dusty. Jfc.
A vacuum is much better than that auger thing. Preferably a grain vac but a shop vac will work too. Use plywood for the walls. They're technically on the right track but far to clunky equipment.
Yep a large shop vac would do well too
So wear snow shoes in it... I mean serioualy though?
NO. It wont help when there is a cavity underneath, you will be sucked in even if wearing snow shoes. But than it will be much harder to get you out
