Best Bolt On 128ci Kit / CR483 Cam / Breakout / Harley Davidson
Alpha Performance Engines 128ci Stump Puller kits are by far the best bang for buck bolt on big bore kits out there.
This particular one is running the CR483 Cam from A.P.E & the S&S Super Street 2-1 Exhaust.
Some other supporting mods are the 55mm intake manifold, 6.2gps fuel injectors, Billet compensator ramp & SE 1275nm clutch springs.
The bike came to me with the CR483 Cam kit already installed along with the Cycle-Rama lifter cuffs.
I did not open the cam chest on this build, it was strictly just a top end bolt on kit & pipe swap.

Alex had been planning his engine build combo for some time now & after much discussion between myself & Alex over Instagram tossing up different options, I finally decided to suggest what I thought was going to be the best combo for him. He had already had a CR483 Cam kit fitted & tuned previously, however due to a less than ideal tune, the bike was left running very poorly & left far from it'...

I have a question i thought the cvo 121 makes 115 from the factory . Or am i wrong so you lost power because of that exhaust ?
An edge drilled set plug drilled and tapped half of its circumference into the pin and half into the flywheel but not more than 1/4-1/3 of the thickness of the flywheel (depending upon plug diameter) peening the metal of the pin and flywheel with a punch or small chisel to keep the set screw from backing out will prevent twist to a certain degree of abuse. However, in a contest between Bullet Proof Mechanical Assembly and User Abuse, User Abuse always wins.

Why not run a gear drive cam? With the trued and welded crank and the power it will be making seems like the gear drive would be better
Good day mate from America. I just recently purchased the Road glide CVO ST vibrates around 2700 RPM to 3000 RPM in all gears. Have you noticed this or is this a common problem?
@RichardJohnson-c6y Can't say I've heard of it before in that specific RPM range, however we did have a new 2024 StreetGlide with a vibration that was very noticeable across the rev range & it turned out to be the aftermarket header system was slightly touching the floorboard & mounting bracket.
so i have a 21 ultra and looking to do a big bore kit. Ive heard for harleys dont get tied up into the HP as the TrQ is what matters.. so how well is it to save doing cyclinder heads and just keeping stock heads and a CR 485 or 483 cam and SE 64mm or just a S&S 55mm ported with stock TB be a good setup thanks!

The 131ci Kit is $6700 AUD, the cam is $579 Then install & tuning costs on top. Each dealership varies on labour rate & tuning fees.
So no need to upgrade to the Hayden tensioner?
Each application calls for its own unique combo of parts. 9 out of 10 bikes I build are for 100% Street use. The customers just want a bolt on big bore bike & those applications are absolutely fine to the OEM tensioner. The very small amount of pure race engines I build call for different combos & as a result, I may be inclined to use more aftermarket parts

@grantcurran3567 Yeah mate, both Primary tubes are 2" in diameter & are the same length (equal length).
For the money they demand for cvo models, which this motor would be fitted to. I would expect a screaming eagle cam plate and oil pump.
@DK-xy8gk So far it is only offered in the 135ci Screamin Eagle Crate motor

@r1stylz Thanks for watching! I'd recommend the CR480 from Cycle-Rama if you want to feel a HUGE amount of grunt from 1500rpm up until 4000rpm. If you think you ride more in lower gears and keep the Rpms a little higher then go for the CR485 from A.P.E

Very surprised that you did not check / measure piston height in cylinder before putting on the heads so you actually understood the final comp ratio. Not really good engine building practice, just saying.

@sashamiric2450 plenty of other videos on my channel showing the use if micrometers, bore dial gauges & even white boars explanations on how to correctly set & calculate final comp ratios. Both corrected & static comp ratios. Feel free to head over & check them out for any more info on the matter.

I had to change what I was typing. At the end u got the power up a good bit. 55mm tb? What pipe ? Stock ? That cam in a 124 should be able to hit around that the 482 can.. or close .. 140/140 470 is slept on sooooo much Itâs an amazing cam! The power and tq curve look fantastic tho btw .. realllly nice .. like realllllly clean. Customer gonna be really happy

@@MasterTechMiller Have you ever had or hurd of, any problems with the cheaper Shovelhead cylinders? I wanted to up the compression a tad on mine, I purchased some forged 9.5 piston. I'm going to use gas ported rings, Since I bought the pistons before I Measured, I'm not sure? if I can get the RVK- RZ in the hone I'm Targeting. The line to line skirt coat I'm planning on will kill the blow by and piston rock. But since it will be so tight.I need the cylinders to hold all the oil they can. So, Do you get what you pay for, or can I get by with the cheap ones if need be ?
@kevinwest3689 unfortunately I have little to no experience with the shovels. I wish I was able to shed more light on this for you but I tend to specialise in the Twincam & Milwaukee8 platforms only.

Just found you channel. Iâve got a 2007 Cross Bones 110 SE import. Iâve had it for about 10 yrs 22000ks on it now. Itâs a pain to ride slow but pulls like train on the open road, I think itâs a tuning thing. Iâm in Brisbane, would you take a look at it and how can I contact you. Cheers Liam.

Great cam Tommy. On a stock (aside from good exhaust and intake) 114 with this CR480MT, would you recommend using the stock 4.3 injectors or 5.5? Thanks mate!
The OEM 4.3 injectors are fine with that combo

Anything above 6-7 thou runout at the crank on the cam side and your already damaging your oil pump,this started after 2003 when Harley stopped using the timken bearings in the crank setup (Cheaper), get it trued, install over size solid cank pin and timken bearing, then your good to light it up, of course then you need to ugrade the primary/Trans ditch the drive belt and go to chain, wow, lot of money!

I think your damn close on your estimate What u mean adjustment avail now on the SEPST ? Back when my FLTRX was a stage 2 107 (EPA compliant .. wanted to beat on it for 10k before I voided warranty).. the guy who does my tuning said there are some work arounds to dial it in for better AFR etc.
