  • Starting with a trued & welded crankshaft, this build is designed for the customers individual needs & wants out of the bike. Wanting to do more track days & adding a little more grunt down low through to the mid range.
    The Crankshaft used starts life a stock Harley-Davidson unit, before it is trued up to under 2thou of run out, an oversized big end bearing is installed & a crank 'Plug' is used over the factory Pin. Finally it is welded into place to prevent movement under harsh conditions.
    I remove the S&S 475 Camshaft previously installed by me when the original build took place & I install the A.P.E CR483 Cam. New cylinders & pistons were installed for good measure to give the engine a new lease on life.
    I also added the Fueling OE+ Camplate to ensure enough oil would be passing through it the critical components of the engine under high rpm demands on the track. A Fueling Cam chain tensioner was thrown in to complete the cam chest.
    For the intake manifold, a Screamin' Eagle 55mm unit was fitted with A.P.E 6.2gps injectors.
    Screamin' Eagle High Capacity lifters were installed & the Screamin' Eagle adjustable pushrods were re-used to complete the build.
    If you have any other questions please leave them in the comments. I read all the comments & try to get back to them as soon as I can.
    Please remember guys, I try to keep the video's as entertaining & flowing as possible so if you don't see a certain procedure done or you think I haven't done something it's most likely because I have left it out of the final video on purpose to keep it flowing.
    All engines I build are heat cycled numerous times before dyno tunes & carried out. You may notice that between me building the engine & tuning it, I have actually got a hair cut which would indicate some amount of time has passed between scenes.
    Final numbers produced on the dyno were 125hp &147ft/lbs

      I see you used the new cyclerama 515 cam but I was thinking of going with the 485 cam in a stage 3 122 with the first generation cnc heads, upgraded injectors, etc.. So do you think I should stick with the 485 cam or would the 515 be better

    • @MasterTechMiller
      @MasterTechMiller  Před rokem

      The 515 will work just fine in the 122kit as the compression ratio is 11.0:1
      The 515 is basically the exact same cam as the 485 but with more lift. The higher lift requires bigger calave springs to accommodate the lift.

    • @MasterTechMiller
      @MasterTechMiller  Před rokem

      Cheers for the support on the channel maybe.
      In regards to the micrometer. No it won't. It's literally just sitting in there with soft jaws so it's steady. It will distort more if it hold it in my hand as my body temp will transfer through it.
      They make micrometer clamps that do the exact same thing.

      Galfer rotors are next. Currently runs upgraded pads on stock rotors

      @@MasterTechMiller Tommy my 107 Fatboy has had poor performance since I got it. I took your advice and fitted an aftermarket air cleaner assy and it made quite a difference, thx.
      But today I just fitted a catch can and it's a different bike. The engine is now free revving, and zooms up my local mountain pulling a gear higher.
      cheers from a happy Richard.

      Absolutely 💯 We have done this before for guys interstate. They have purchased the bike through out Dealership, I've done all the work on the bike & engine from new, carried out all the dyno work etc and then we've shipped the bike to the customer hassle free.
      You may wish to chose to come and collect the bike from us and ride it home.
      Shoot me an email at workshop@ddhd.com.au if you would like any further information on how we can make this happen.

    Thanks for sharing. I noticed you still used adjustable pushrods even though you had the top off. any reason you didn't reuse the originals?

    • @MasterTechMiller
      @MasterTechMiller  Před 2 lety +1

      The initial build when the bike was sold was just a stage 2 kit with the S&S 475. The stock pushrods were cut out and adjustable ones were used then.
      Then the 128 bolt on kit went in later on and re-used the S&S 475 Cam.
      This time around I just re-used them again because the customer had already paid for them.
