Prevent Lawn Grubs
Prevent Lawn Grubs
There are numerous ways to prevent lawn grub destruction. I've chosen chlorantraniliprole (active ingredient in Grub EX). There are also more natural or organic methods, such as milky spore, effective mostly on japaneese beetle larva (SEE BELOW).
As noted in the video there are concerns of products interfering with pollinating bees. This is especially a problem with products bearing active ingredients of imidacloprid or thiamethoxam.... GrubEX's active ingredient is chlorantraniliprole and has been reported as not as toxic, compared to other products. There are hundreds of websites and studies online which offer conflicting answers. However, from what I've read the issue is more so a problem with other prodcuts when applied to lawns with flowering weeds (entry way to bees). PLEASE DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH AND DO NOT RELY UPON THIS VIDEO OR DESCRIPTION FOR DEFINITIVE ANSWER.

      Probably too late. If you have active grubs you’ll need to use a different product. Look for products that say it kills grubs. Active ingredients are often Grub products that contain carbaryl, imidacloprid or bifenthrin.

    • @LawnJourneys
      @LawnJourneys Před 11 dny

      The SunJoe dethatcher is the spring like module. The blades are the scarifier, which scratches up the ground for better seed contact. I chose not to rent an aerator because I’m tired of hauling machines home from rental stores. Aeration is useful if you have very hard soils, I’ve done it in years past but have gotten away from the rental game and my lawn is still thriving.

      I don’t believe there a scam. They’re monitoring stations that when hit get bait installed that kills colonies. They’re not for ridding known infestation in a home, more early warning and/or prevention. I believe they’re heavily used in south eastern US by commercial pest companies and often beneficial when selling home as a means to certify that proper prevention methods have been employed. The stations I installed I self monitor.

    I realize this video is 2 years old but, I'd like to know if you watered in the Azoxy and Humic 12. From what I understand about Azoxy is that it treats both kinds of fungus, foliar and systemic. I've never seen anything on the label that says to water it in after application but, the Humic 12 is supposed to be watered in. If you don't irrigate the Humic 12, it's not going to do anything, or at least that's my understanding.

      Always. I’ve been pouring them out under my bird feeders. If I do an update video I’ll mention it too 🙂

    I put 200 pounds on 5,000 sq ft over two years time. Definitely can tell the difference.

      Its expensive but I believe that soil is very important. I've been doing one app per year, mostly due to cost. Now I want to order some!

    So 5.2 grams/1,000 is just 3 months of control, correct? So u do this rate early spring (march) and then later spring (June)? And then do u do this rate again in the fall? Thanks!

      3lb/1000 ft2 generally gives 3-5 months. In NJ a March app generally followed by the other half in May. Those two apps come close to max for the year. If you do a fall app I change up and use Dithiopyr (another pre emergent).

      It traps many nuisance insects. Probably most effective mosquito prevention is removing standing water around property.

      Thanks. Not doing as frequently as past, but I enjoy the video process. I’ll share my first fertilizer results in the next 1-2 weeks.
