No warping at the start of the game wouldnt take away the amazing level design. To me it would make it way more enjoyable. So many times throughout my play thru so far I’ve been frustrated Beyond belief because I gotta run across the map. For example one time I made my way to andre from blightown to get the crest of artorius. On my way up blightown I died twice and lost all my 36,000 souls I got from quelaag. When I got to andre I figured I could just pop the soul of quelaag and that would be more than enough for the crest. Oh was I wrong. I only had around 1,000 souls and the crest is 20,000. I than had to run all the way back to blightown and farm those rock dudes with the boulders for a solid 30-45 minutes due to them dropping 500 souls a death. If there is an enemy that you can farm in which drops more souls, I didn’t know about it. After farming I had to run all the way back up, buy the crest, beat the titanite demon and run to the door. I wasted a good hour and 20 minutes running and farming so I could get the required item. Therefore being able to warp between bonfires at the start of the game would’ve been highly appreciated

So I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned this but if you could get to the phase change on Mergo's wet nurse, both her and her clones take damage from any explosives allowing you to deal double damage by hitting both with a single shot. Unless there's something I missed it seemed like you were able to get to her phase change with two shots left so she should be theoretically possible.

Black Fire Orb is meant to be cast with the dark pyromancy flame. Would've dealt a *lot* more damage that way.

Yeah, as weak as Nameless King and his dragon are to lightning, they're both actually weaker to dark damage. Even with a mediocre dark build, I was able to end phase one with two casts of Great Soul Dregs, and finish him off with another three casts.

So question: I always see runners with these builds using the Odeon runes for more bullets, usually totaling +7 on two runes. Does it not make more sense to instead use the communion rune and just “convert” the vials to bullets? Even the rune for just +2 vials becomes +10 QSB upon conversion, which is already higher than the total with two Odeon runes. With both the +2 and +3 Communion rune you’re looking at +25 total QSB. This is what I did at least when running a Bowblade build.

Did someone else get the ring drop from the centipede demon mid fight? I just equipped it while solair was distracting him after that the fight was a breeze

i agree that the second half of dark souls is obviously not finished but 90% of the points you bring up are just arbitrary complaints, being able to parry gwyn was absolutely a good design choice and it's symbolic more than mechanical or to give you some sort of edge, it means reached a point of equal status than those towering bosses that gave you such a hard time at the beginning of your journey, you literally just say you never tried parrying because you felt it was useless. Like, I totally agree ds1 was unfinished but the shit you brought up is just baseless opinions and just whiny rather than an objective dissecting and comparing of level design, lore writing or anything of substance really.

I unironically appreciate the recipe segments in this series. The food is great, and so is the fact I'm learning how to make it in the middle of a dark souls challenge run video.

I’m surprised that DS1 Orenstein and smough we’re not here. Because the run back is a bit tedious and annoying. No matter which bonfire you’re at even to the closest one. Plus, if you don’t time it right you’ll get hit by the enemy and you have to heal up. Plus the giant guardians will come after you up to the fog. And if the chance they will hit you through the fog with their giant weapon. Making the fight even more stressful because you have to find and good place and moment to heal while dealing with the bosses.

The path is a bit more awkward but technically you can get to ornifex by only killing the scorpioness and prowling magus which is still 2 bosses away but wouldve only been one boss soul
