Just to mention in case anyone suggests it
- the cannon blast does NOT count as fire damage so using Oil on enemies does NOT increase the damage
- You can't leave items on the ground at all in Bloodborne so leaving bullets at the fog gate isn't possible
So, i think there is a way to kill mergo, so when mergo goes onto the shadow realm it seems like its clone attacks add a extra counter hit. I remember that someone was able to use it ( i think it was baron castle or the backlogs.)
For the witches couldn't you have gotten them close together and hit them both? Might edit later for more questions.
I assume this was tried but in the small chance it wasn't is bloodborne simular to dark souls where you could place bullets outside the fog wall or are they unreachable
@@jacobvincent8677 The Hunter's Dream isn't the same as a Bonfire. You can't refill your inventory without resetting the map. Maybe you could leave bullets at the fog wall and then collect bullets that are naturally spawned around the map but there are no bullets in the Nightmare of Mensis so it wouldn't matter even if you could

Regarding the "getting the third rune" thing: The way you made and edited the video, I think we all were under the assumption you hit a wall (writing this a you're fighting Ludwig after getting the third rune). At that point in any challenge runm I personally feel like it's way more fun to have the runner explore and explain "OK, these are the things we could theoretically do within the confines of the game to maybe still turn this around; this run isn't legit anymore, this is just for the sake of sciene".
I call that the Mythbusters method - here's the challenge as initially presented. Is it feasible, yes or no; now let's see what it WOULD take to make it happen.

The gimmick bosses are the hardest more often than you might expect in runs like this
The way to pronounce Oedon is actually told to the player by Gherman. If you listen to his dialogue after you kill the blood starved beast, he pronounces it as "Oh-den"

Honestly, challenge runs whose viability is up in the air are extra special. So much suspense.

I appreciate that after you were able to get started you did not continue hacking things in to make the first few fights doable. It would be easy to go overboard and say oh we need to plus three so I also added extra shards
I don't mind hacking things in so long as A, it's something you could obtain at that time or, like later in the video, B, If you DON'T have it, the run is over
16:13 I always love when you do sudden cuts as an enemy is lumbering on screen and your character is about to get their shit wrecked.

So let me be clear. You canonically cannoned your way through the game, using a canonical cannon, which fires cannon balls. This sounded way better in my head.
Using chalices as you do, you could stack three +5 bullets runes for a total of 7 canon shoots. This would leave the Wet Nurse at 500hp if you landed the 7 counter hits😅😅

You can't get more than one chalice rune on one save
If you try the chest in which the rune was, it will be replaced with madmans knowledge

I wish there was a rune that increased the number of bullets you got when turning your blood into them. That would increase the number of shots you can use quite a bit I imagine.
...I feel like it's the sort that they would have, so I'm surprised that there isn't one.
So I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned this but if you could get to the phase change on Mergo's wet nurse, both her and her clones take damage from any explosives allowing you to deal double damage by hitting both with a single shot. Unless there's something I missed it seemed like you were able to get to her phase change with two shots left so she should be theoretically possible.
Definitely the punniest Bloodborne challange run I've ever seen, you got yourself a new subscriber.

The church should worship sniping enemies with things that shouldn't be used to snipe. Because that was the number one usage of this cannon when PVP existed in Bloodborne.
when the nurse casts shadows around it, a double of it spawns with linked healtbar, in theory landing a counter there should count as double the damage you normally do, allowing for a win. certainly its challenging though.

With the whirligig saw glitch you'd be able to do it easily, but it's a glitch and it'd require using another weapon, so this rule set wouldn't allow it regardless.

I had no idea the witches could hurt each other with that aoe move. They're never alive long enough for me to see it that often. Literally blew my mind! Another bit of trivia that probably wouldn't be useful for runs like this; Ebrietas' aura buff in phase 2 actually very slowly damages her. And I mean slooooowwwly

you can get the high tier runes with reverse depth chalices, might feel very slightly less cheaty than using save Wizard
Starting this one out with a bang(er), huh? A pun in the first 10 seconds is a new record, I feel.
I actually learned from this video that apparently, beasthood doesn't affect shot damage? I never even thought about that interaction in all my playthroughs, so as random as it is, this video made me very conscious of that. It's a shame too, because I feel for 10 shots a bang, the cannons do way too little damage by the end. They are supposed to be "the ones that do damage", but on a normal playthrough trying to use them for that just feels unsatisfying (I used the regular cannon on my very first run)

i think the clones that mergo uses can be hit at the same time as the real one, theoretically saving the run
When you said shadows I thought it was going to be an ad for Raid Shadow Legends
AFAIK the second witch is definitely present from the very start of the fight. It just doesn't do anything so its hard to find, but you don't need to kill or even injure the first one for the second to appear
Nah it definitely doesn't appear til you deplete 50% of the first Witch's health. Tested this thoroughly 👌
what if you attack during wet nurse's clone phase? the blast damage from the shots during this phase might be enough to beat her
so sadly its just in mergo phase 2 but during her shadow attack with her clones they also take damage that counts for the full hp bar. so you could technically squeeze out more damage by hitting multiple mergos at once but still dont think its enough to kill
Main problem would be that it'd had to be a double counter
