- The challenge run that took 3012 years to complete. That's right, ancient civilisations in 1000 B.C predicted the invention of Dark Souls and the inevitable challenge run that would come with it. Using stone tablets and chisels, they theory crafted for 3 millenia leading up to Dark Souls release. Even with all that preparation time, it wasn't enough and only now, 12 years after the game's release, some British guy called JK Leeds has at last been able to beat Dark Souls with its undeniably worst weapon of all time. Watch this video to follow the epic and amazing journey, with twists and turns that will hit you so hard you'll turn into a load of Elven bread out of confusion. Not for the faint of heart.....

After seeing the first half of your video i was thinking it was a bad weapon then i saw the damage and was amazed. I grinded the levels to wield it and now im stuck on O&S. Have been for a long time and thats actually where i grinded

So brave of you to commit to such a difficult run. Can't imagine the pain of having to hit a boss 4 to 5 times. Certainly 100s of hours well spent for such a glorious worlds first.
I remember my first playthrough of Dark Souls 1. I was fresh off beating Dark Souls 1 3 and in that game the black knight halbard does actually good damage, so when I got it in Dark Souls 1 I could not believe I was fooled so thoroughly. Thank you for spreading awareness of the worst weapon in the game!
back in the day when i used to play pvp with friends, whenever we saw the BKH we immediately stripped nekkid, one because fast rolls are so OP against it, but two, it was so fecking funny to just roll rings round the invader til they either left or changed weapon, it was such a joke
The rapid "just like our damage has fall-" after ceaseless had me laughing a bit too hard

you might never know how to use bow correctly, you don't need arrow to use the bow, instead just shoot air to make it effective, or use bow as a melee weapon, it's busted.
Sadly, the masterfully performed centipede demon cheese at 16:34 was patched. Now it only works with flip ring and kalameet ring equiped - which is the true effect of kalameet ring only discovered recently. Still mad respect for undergoing this tortue.
Oh, so you have to take off the FaP ring to do the cheese? That sucks, I was really hoping to be able to do this in NG, not NG+. I guess that's just how Miyazaki (im)balances the game. How am I even going to beat this boss and get to NG+ in the first place!? He's mandatory!

The luck you got on Bed of Chaos is insane. You got just the right RNG on the boss moves on the core phase to pull off decent damage despite your weapon dragging you down.

My second paythrough, I did this challenge run. It was so horrible that my will to enjoy life died and I became addicted to the torture of halberds that I did a similar run in DS2. I think I need help!
I HATE the bkh! I somehow got it on my first run and thought it was a good idea to use it. But luckily I soon after got the drake sword which carried me all the way through the rest of the game. Glad I didn't have to put up with the shitty halberd for long!
Im genuinly amazed at the speed you pump these out. I watch these at night to relax and the puns keep me from falling asleep but instead send me spiraling down into depression. Please keep on going. Your content is top notch.

No, probably not enough skill or luck. If not for instraybility frames, lucky RNG and special cheese strats that few can pull off, this run would've been impossible. Try something easier like firebombs or immolation, the easy mode of DS1.

I can't believe you didn't dupe the Twinkling Titanites, a Haldberd only run is masochistic enough without having to *farm* the upgrade materials. 😂
You never mentioned the crazy quirks the other bk weapons had, like how the sword does only 1 damage no matter the upgrade, the ultra greatsword has C strength C dex scaling (Crap, Crap), and the greataxe can't be got until you beat gwyn 8 times with your eyes closed. Honestly, how could the devs make such an oversight?
honestly the biggest oversight that's not a joke is how the black knights have a stumble animation for missing attacks yet the player does not
I know this is a very unironic retelling of the hardest run in the history of Dark: Souls One, but this is bringing me back to the ancient times.
When my friend who attempted this very strategy and very ironically complained at how hard it was. All while I was living on easy street with my overpowered Morningstar. I just stayed in the very unlaggy Blight Town for days just as a prank to make him feel good about himself.

This was one hell of a video for somebody with a few hundred hours in DS1 alone and who has never watched you before.
It took me a good five minutes to realize you were serious and I'm so glad I've never used the BK Halberd. I have used the UGS before so I thought all the BK weapons were good. You have saved me from a long and arduous run with this video. Take my subscription for saving me so much pain.

I’ve seen you do some insane runs, but this? Absolutely mad. The second I saw what weapon you were using, I asked myself, “Surely the halberd is required to get the better weapon?” but here you are, using a joke weapon to beat the hardest game ever. Top tier stuff.

I tried that centipede demon strat and it worked like a charm thanks for the guide on using this awful weapon. I've been needing a way to challenge myself in dark souls again. Keep up the "challenge runs" or whatever these are called.

man I've watched some what I then considered to be brutal souls challenge runs; soul level one runs, zerolenny's broken sword runs, happy hob's ds1-ds3 back-to-back no hit runs. however, having just witnessed what you achieved here I can confidently say that nothing I've ever seen before compares to this in terms of the sheer willpower, dedication and skill needed to pull off. hats off to you JK Leeds!
I did this same run with a fully upgraded magic halbert. I even summoned the guy who helps you fight pinwheel. I killed pinwheel before the guy could even get inside the boss room
What a brave effort oml, I would never try this myself. Hellish run, kudos for completing it!
The only scaling damage was the emotional damage over time as this terrible weapon dragged this out so much. My condolences and my upvote to you, sir.

I remember my first play through using the dark knight halberd without guides, I thought the game was pretty easy until I got to those anor londo archers. It only took like 5 hours running up those toberlone shaped, handguard lacking, humanity stealing, buttresses.

This man is a god-tier masochist. Why someone would inflict themselves to the utter mind-numbing torture of a Black Knight Halberd run baffles me. Like, you could've done 47 naked, SL 1, broken straight sword runs instead and had an actual good time. Hopefully this video does well enough to pay for all the therapy sessions you'll need from the PTSD this run has caused you.
