6 Movements of the Spine Yoga Practice
Included in this practice: the six movements of the spine (and the extra seventh one!). The sequence moves through twists, sidebends, forward and backbends, and the added axial extension as well.
All movements and poses are done either seated or on hands and knees, so no standing poses included. You can expect several Half-Butterfly poses, Gate poses, seated Hand-to-Big-Toe poses, some Cat-Cow variations, and many more that get your spine moving.
The only props that I use for this practice is a small towel, but you might go through the practice without it as well.

Axial extension means that you're increasing the overall length of the spine by reducing the curves of the spine. I like to think of this as reaching the head and tail away from each other 🙂🐒

I have a 7 year old daughter who loves yoga. She keeps asking me if we can do yoga together. Kids yoga on youtube is a bit much for me, jumping in and out of poses, and adult yoga can be a bit "boring " for her. If you ever consider doing a mom and child yoga video we would be the first ones to click on that!

Belated Happy New Year ☺️ when doing the side squat, is it OK for the foot of the bent leg to be up on the ball of the foot, or is it better to gave the following flat and the body higher?
This is a really good question M! There's no one correct answer or way to do the pose. Either option is good as long as it feels safe for you and you feel that you get something out of the pose. I think it's great to play with different variations as you might get different benefits from them. There's a third option too: to place something under the bent leg heel (if you have the weight mostly on the ball of the foot). I personally experience hip impingement symptomps and discomfort in deep hip flexions, and this kind of propping has helped me a lot. Sometimes an even bigger prop like a pillow is really nice!
