    Be careful; this is excellent for fun, accompaniment, improv, etc. I highly recommend checking out her stuff. For classical purposes, you'd have to take lessons; trust me you won't learn on youtube for goodness sake

  • @JerryEboy69
    @JerryEboy69 Před 4 dny

    Let me provide greater insight. The two main paths are traditional lessons and chord lessons. FUTURE CLASSICAL MUSICIANS: Traditional lessons are the key. I've learned WAYY to many things that are never taught online. I've looked everywhere for intricate details. Almost impossible. FUTURE HOBBY PIANISTS: Chord lessons are 100% the way. You can get the hang really easily. Conclusion: If you're here to learn the art of perfection, take proper lessons. If you're here for fun (most likely), take lessons about learning chords which can be built upon.

    I took traditional piano lessons for five years, and I guess what I learned might be called sight reading. IDK. I learned to read music and plunk it out on the keys. My teacher would always write the key signature on the music, and discuss the sharps or flats. I still have ALL my music and pulled them out a few weeks ago to “start over.” The first ones are dated in February 1971. Yes, you read that correctly. I was eight years old, and at this point I probably play like I did after a year in. I’ve never understood all the chords and key signatures, until earlier this week as I was reading all the fine print on the pages around the simple sheet music. It dawned on me that there MUST be an easier way now to do this rather than how I learned so long ago. I’ve said for all these decades that I never had that fluid feel for the piano where the music flows out of me and onto the keys, and now I think it might be because of the way I originally learned. With a renewed interest into one of my childhood interests and still with the same piano my parents surprised me with that ordinary 3rd grade school day, I’m going to give your way a try and see how I do. Thank you for posting this info. You’ve got a really cute, creative presentation style.

    There is no method. There is no "how long". There is nothing "immediately". It "just" takes years of sustained practice and focus on listening. I started at 46 and maybe I will actually never play decent sounding jazz. I don't care. The process is goal by itself.

    I started playing piano (seriously, not just some youtube tutorials) with the age 46 when during Covid era. I have a fantastic teacher who mixes popular music with classical ones constantly raising the bar and giving me new challenges to keep my motivation high. Now I had for homework my first Chopin piece (a seemingly easily but ofc superdifficult waltz). That's why I started to learn: some day I'll be able to play Chopin. And it gives so much fun! I'm far from being a pianist but I can play (also by strangers) enjoyable music. I'd never could imagine how your hands can move simultaneously. Now I know: with a lot of practice. My sight-reading should be improved but I'm working on it on a daily basis. The key: I'm practicing everyday. (30-60mins).

    At 68, I find it easier to play songs by finding the chords as you say and by getting the Easy Note song books . Even though I learned how to read sheet music, I find the large notes and the note names already written on the notes makes it easier to enjoy playing the piano. I first learned the 3 note major chords then how to turn them into minor chords then the seventh chords-mostly the white keys. I'm still working on the black keys for the sharps and flats. I started playing songs right away and you can buy one of those Yamaha arranger keyboards and add rhythm accompaniment. Finally, I need to get to the next level and add arpeggios and two handed chording. But. I enjoy the learning process and discovering something new is very rewarding and keeps me going.😁Liked your video, by the way!
