Category 5 Hurricane Michael - Extended Cut
For the 5 year anniversary of Hurricane Michael's wrath on the Florida Panhandle, Jake Smith and I decided to include some more of our storm footage.
In East Panama City, FL, Category 5 Hurricane Michael charged through. The eye passed about 2 miles to our south and east, pushing us into the horrendous eyewall for every second of 2 hours. Listen to the sounds the winds made. The roars and the pulses of pressure.
It was an experience that has fully made the biggest impact on Jake and I as meteorologists and especially me being in the emergency management field.
The landscape looked as if it was dragged across itself and to this day, words are still hard to find to describe this storm.

Category 3 Hurricane Idalia - Perry, FL
zhlédnutí 112KPřed 9 měsíci
Hurricane Idalia slams into the Big Bend area of Florida! There was a lot of damage around Perry, mostly due to the strong mesovortices that formed within the back edge of the eyewall. As the hurricane approached, it started to weaken and entrain dry air. The NErn and Nrn eyewalls were very turbulent but very very dry. The lack of falling precip did not allow for maximum winds to be realized. W...
Intense MESOVORT! - Hurricane Idalia - Perry, FL
zhlédnutí 1,3KPřed 9 měsíci
Mesovortices, mesovorts or mini-swirls, can spin up quick within inner bandings of hurricanes. Some can have the same effect as a tornado. Could this be considered one?! Major Hurricane Idalia made landfall during the morning hours of August 30th, 2023. Several of these features were noted on radar velocities and by a few storm chasers in the area. This was one of the noticable 2 we witnessed t...
Hurricane Force Winds - Freeland, MD - August 7th, 2023

Most of the Mid-Atlantic was under a Moderate Risk for severe thunderstorms on August 7, 2023. A prefrontal supercell developed along the Catoctin Mountains in western Central Maryland as a massive line formed to the west of that. After chasing the supercell around Taneytown and Westminster, we tried to make it back to Harford County before the main line came through. We were unsuccessful as it...
Hurricane Nicole - Vero Beach, FL - CLEAR EYE

We had a planned vacation in Savannah and was off so a family friend and I drove down a day early to intercept Hurricane Nicole. This was Alex's first hurricane and it was quite the experience! We got to Vero Beach just as the very outer bands were starting to pull through. The sea was angry, the winds howled, and the rain was driving. Hurricane Nicole made direct landfall at our location with ...

September 28th, 2022. Monster Hurricane Ian pulverized into the SW Coast of Florida. This is our footage from E. Port Charlotte area. Once we went through the Nrn eyewall, the very edge of the massive eye came over us. We got in the car and went 7 miles SSE just past Punta Gorda to intercept the direct center of the eye. We then drove another 7 miles SSE to turn around where we got to shoot a t...
Tropical Storm Henri - Montauk Point
zhlédnutí 763Před 2 lety
Tropical Storm Henri made a beeline for the Northeast coast late August 2021 as a Category 1 hurricane. A rarity for such a system to make it's way that far north, Jake Smith, Steven Bergey, and I witnessed gusty winds, heavy rains, storm surge, and intense, heavy seas at Montauk Point, New York.

Storm chasers Matt Coker, Steven Bergey, and I rode out Hurricane Ida in Thibodaux, Louisiana, where we saw hurricane force conditions for several hours. Ida made landfall as a strong Category 4 hurricane on August 29th, 2021! After landfall, Hurricane Ida slowed to a crawl. Due to the slower forward speed, deteriorating conditions lasted hours upon hours. After recording all day, all batteries...

Steven Bergey and I drove 20 hours to the coast of Louisiana for the landfall of Hurricane Delta. This was his first hurricane chase and my first since Michael in 2018. We were both sooo excited! Hurricane Delta made landfall in Creole, LA as a 100mph Category 2 Hurricane during the evening of October 9th, 2020. This was a record landfall as there has never been 10 CONUS-landfalling named-storm...

An awesome storm chasing day with some of my closet friends and the proposal shot of a lifetime! He said yes! It was the perfect set up for tornado-producing supercells across Central and Eastern Kansas. From the Wallops Island Space Center's visitor observation sight, we watched the launch of the Antares with ISS supplies. Jesus is the only way. We have all sinned and deserve Hell. Sins that may seem small in our eyes are big in God's and are worthy of Hell, such as lying lusting and stealing. But if we repent and trust only in Jesus, he is faithful and will save us from Hell and give us eternal life in Heaven. Trust in Jesus! John 3:16 Romans 6:23😊❤😊❤
