- For the 5 year anniversary of Hurricane Michael's wrath on the Florida Panhandle, Jake Smith and I decided to include some more of our storm footage.
In East Panama City, FL, Category 5 Hurricane Michael charged through. The eye passed about 2 miles to our south and east, pushing us into the horrendous eyewall for every second of 2 hours. Listen to the sounds the winds made. The roars and the pulses of pressure.
It was an experience that has fully made the biggest impact on Jake and I as meteorologists and especially me being in the emergency management field.
The landscape looked as if it was dragged across itself and to this day, words are still hard to find to describe this storm.

Truly a unbelievable storm. I grew up In PC. What I saw when I went back after Michael will be with me forever. Many areas were not even recognizable. Great video. Had to be a very nervous eye opening experience for you. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing that with us! It truly was a life changing experience. Hope all is well!
😊I marvel at the sheer power of these storms it breaks my heart to see so many people’s lives turned upside down due to the devastation these Cat 5 storms unleash. It’s incredible how in little over 24 hours it grew from a Tropical storm to a Cat 5 Hurricane!
Trust me, just seeing it strengthen so fast coming right at us was an experience in itself! The power is amazing!
Makes me hungry.....
Excellent As always Joey🌀Put some efforts on it Hurricane Michael hits hard it has a strong impact on it I hope you always stay safe
Mr. K... thanx so much 4 the footage. Hope your OK. I'm in Buffalo, NY and we obviously don't encounter ANY of this stuff, maybe a blizzard every 7 yrs or so and it might last for 3 or 4 days but then we displace it but at least our homes are left still standing. I can't imagine losing everything... above all > sentimental items... you don't get those back.
It looked like a blizzard at times! Full whiteout. The power of nature is amazing
I wish you could have shown those big pines in the wind in front of the days inn.....
I know right? It was too dangerous to be out that way during the height of it but none of the last at long and they were all down after the first eyewall or so
@@JoeyKrastel excellent footage I've watched it several times...
