So I'm watching this because the new season got me interested again in Doctor Who and I'm nostalgic but it's mostly because I stopped watching after the Rosa Park episode and I'm too scared to watch 13th doctor run alone 😂

In defense of God Complex as to me it’s a perfect episode, season 6 does have a lot of fairy tail doctor stuff which God Complex finally ends. Literally called “God Complex”. One of my favorite things about Matt’s doctor is he has to confront how bringing along companions is disruptive to their lives. They put complete and total trust in him and he can’t save them all the time. The God Complex takes that faith in Amy and shatters it. She no longer views him that way bc he tells her why he can’t. That he’s not a fairy tail, just “mad man with a box”. He can’t save everyone and he doesn’t. He then drops them off and allows them to live their lives as they should bc he knows they have a life ahead of them that doesn’t have the doctor in it eventually. I think it’s beautifully written.

Idk if he's stupid or not, but... when River jumps into the Tardis from that tower... into a POOL... there's no console there, because... umm.... the Tardis is a multi-dimensional vehicle with like millions of rooms inside of it, and phew one of them has a big ass pool... what a coincidence... blud has an attention spam of a 6 years old... "ewwww I found it boring, and a filler tyenk god for 8 episodes per season ☝️🤓" may God have mercy on your soul, and never touch Quantum Leap or any other media really where you need to focus on the episode, and has like 23 episodes per season

I liked the general concept of Flux, but nothing in it. when i heard they were doing a 6 episode story, i thought, hey, it's like a classic who serial! but no, it was a bunch of mostly disconnected episodes strung together by an awful link

My introduction to doctor who was “Daleks in manhattan”. I remember getting nightmares about the pigmen in that episode. It’s my favorite but I’m biased.

i really liked this episode! it felt like a classic who episode, actually quite similar to girl in the fireplace regarding this fast paced whirlwind romance that's doomed. i might be biased as i quite like jonathan groff as an actor but i hope we get to see more of him in the future (and he's stated he would be willing to come back whenever rtd calls him) and expand on their relationship as i thought the chemistry between jonathan and ncuti was amazing! i also loved the design of the monsters, i know some people might find them quite comical but there were actually moments they were quite creepy for me. i wouldn't say it's up there with boom and 73 yards for me but definitely one of my faves from the entire season.

I genuinely love boom town. It's fucking good. The actor who plays Margaret is really, really fucking good and there's actually some brilliant fucking points being made about the doctor as a person, good tension, friend hangouts, comedy... seriously. It's really fucking good.

It may be a crappy effect in hindsight but that jump scare with Miss Evangelistas face being messed up scared the absolute crap out of me as a kid. Kept me up that night.

Can we just bring up how the Doctor has literally died for people he just met? When Peter Davison's Doctor got poisoned he gave the antidote to Peri, who he just met. Peter Capaldi fought off legions of cybermen alone on floor 507 while holding back regeneration for a village of people he had just met. Paul McGann stayed in a crashing spaceship trying to save a woman who he just met, who also hated him with every bone in her body. A woman who wanted him dead. And he would've died, permanently, without regenerating, if it wasn't for the Sisterhood of Karn and their elixir.

I genuinely hate the resolution of 'revolution of the daleks' because the Tardis isn't just a machine, it's a living thinking entity, we know that and so does the doctor, but she still chose to sacrifice it without any regard. That episode made me livid

i’m actually so glad you called out that jodie doesn’t do that good of a job with the material given. like you said, people always say “she’s an amazing actress who was just let down with bad writing” and sure, i can agree to an extent, but i also don’t think she ever knew how to play the doctor. i’ve always been nervous to say that, most likely because people might take it in a misogynistic context, but it’s clear that she never got a grasp on the character. so thank you for openly saying that jodie didn’t really hit the mark because i think you’re absolutely right.

Should I be doing my holiday homework yes. Am I going to ignore it and watch this, also yes.

I only stumbled upon this channel with this video, and i have vastly differing opinions on some of the episodes and ratings, but hey, as DTDW said at the start of it - its opinion show. I especially strongly disagree on Capaldi era takes, but hey, to each their own

I feel like you underrate S5 quite a bit. I would put The hungry Earth and Cold blood in the OK tier. Then we get a season that is at least as good as S2/3. I do agree with you that S4 was the best season, and everything after that feels worse by comparison...

I love the ‘garlic bulb’ thing because it’s so clear you’ve seen JayExci’s video and you’re trying so hard not to say ‘big onion’, LOL! (That’s not a bad thing!) And I agree with most of your takes again. Got to say though, while it’s clear that you don’t purely dislike 13 because of her gender, there are still some subconscious biases coming through. Like when you talk about how she brandishes the sonic - it’s no more or less flowery than 10 or 11, but you seem to have a particular issue with how she does it? And you kept referring to her as ‘Jodie’ (i.e. just the actor’s first name) when in previous videos you’ve referred to the actors by their full names (‘David Tennant’, ‘Peter Capaldi’ etc.) Just a couple things I noticed that you could work on in the future, maybe? 🤷‍♀️

I think I have exactly the same opinions as you; it’s hilarious! 😂 I can also tell the point where I started dropping off the show because, while I *think* I stayed until the end of the Moffat era, I don’t remember any of the episodes from Series 9 or 10 at all. I must have just watched them the once and then never bothered with them again (as opposed to RTD’s original era which I’ve rewatched dozens of times).

I know she has her fan-base, but I do not like River Song and am glad to hear I am not alone. The first series of the new Doctor is not really knocking me off my feet, to much Disney song and dance ... don´t get me wrong I am a Diney-maniac, but it does not fit the Doctor Who theme in my mind. And no I do NOT need River Song back ...

Well that was a thoroughly enjoyable 5+ hours. We share basically most of the same opinions about the whole show. Although Capaldi is my favorite nuWho Doctor, despite the somewhat poorly written stories he had. The Moon is an egg GGRRRRR! Oh and finally someone who has the right opinion on the awful River Song and Clara. Moffat really has trouble writing female characters imho. Brilliantly entertaining video, excellent work and I have saved it so I can watch it again and again at my leisure. I've been subscribed for a long while now so I look forward to more tier reviews of the 60th anniversary and series 14/1 and spin offs when they are released. Keep up the good work.

Flux feels like 5 different tv shows at once

I understand everything in this list except the Capaldi Era. How does Series 8 not have any perfect episodes? Mummy, Flatline and Listen are all perfect for me. Series 9 opener and Under the Lake are easily great. And I will not stand for The Doctor Falls slander. The Series 10 finale is as perfect a finale as Doctor Who has had. About the “too complicated” thing. Why are people so upset that Moffat takes a SCI-Fi show and actually makes it science fiction

I think Jodie's era had some neat ideas, a few good scenes, and a couple of jokes that landed... but that's about it. So far Ncuti has done better, even though too many of his episodes feel like they're targeted at toddlers.

Somehow, I think that Steven Moffat is the worst enemy of Mark Gatiss. Everything else Gatiss wrote outside of their collaborations is gold, but him with Moffat... Horrible.

Even though I've been felling down the last week or so I would like to say thank you for letting me be able to relive my childhood through doctor who and making me laugh in the process. Even though I do disagree on a few of your individual rankings i do agree with your commentary as a whole and would like to say thank you for a evening of fun.

The biggest thing I welcome about having Russel T Davis back (or at least Chibnall gone), is that everyone actually just acts like humans again. Even the random side characters in the Welsh pub just feel like people. Seems like something so simple, but when you've had 3 seasons of cardboard cutouts who exist only to push the plot forward... it's nice.
