I wouldn’t be shocked if most towns of any size in the US have number streets crossed by streets named after trees (and president’s names). Why aren't the platinum/gold/silver/bronze zones defined as a percentage of the total distance traveled? If someone were to complete a 100km platinum run, and someone else completes a 5km platinum run, then is it fair to put the two in the same platinum category when one mission is 20x longer than the other? Instead of a hard 25m for every mission, platinum could be defined as 0.15534% deviation of the total mission length (which works out to be 25m for a 10 mile mission). In this case, the mission was 68 miles which would have allowed for 170m deviation. It sounds like a lot, but over such a long length, it reduces the chance of being caught by a single farmer and also permits more room to go around obstacles that pose safety concerns.

It shouldn't be that hard to cross a small country like England, Wales or Scotland in a straight line you'd think. Too many land owners and possessive people being aggressive towards 'intruders' though. Those clearings with the trees still left in place are the worst terrain ever. Even a straight on swamp is easier to cross. Back in the service this was pretty much the one thing you always circled around. If you were caught in contact in that shit, you'd be as good as dead. Also I'm sure you had your reasons for the running shoes (it seems?), but high cut boots with ankle support are a life saver in forests. You never know when you'll have that one dumb slip and twist your ankle. Saved me more than once.
