Hello, welcome to my little fledgling CZcams channel where I've mostly made vlogs of my trips to Iceland so far.
I am a polar bear; I thrive in cold places and outside and I wilt if you put me in the sun. I'm a blogger, a traveller, a self-published author and now I'm trying out being a CZcamsr. I write about travel, especially in Iceland and northern Europe, outdoors adventures, camping, kayaking and swimming and about introducing adventures to the next generation as a Girlguiding volunteer. Probably that's what this channel will be as well, once I get into the habit of filming more than I currently do.
In the meantime, there's plenty of Iceland content to keep you busy.

A week in Tbilisi: Tbilisi at last!! (part 3) 🇬🇪
In the third part of this series about my week in Tbilisi earlier in the year, I'm finally in Tbilisi! I actually only had one afternoon, one day and a couple of evenings because there was so much else to do, so come with me to the Chronicles of Georgia, the Old Town, Mtatsminda and the Narikala cable car.

A week in Tbilisi: how to get to Tbilisi (part 2) 🇬🇪
zhlédnutí 31Před 3 měsíci
In the second part of this series about my week in Tbilisi earlier in the year, I want to talk a bit about how to get there. There are no direct flights to Tbilisi from the UK and connections arrive and leave at unsociable hours. So this is how I got to and from Georgia. A week in Tbilisi: a weekend in Larnaca (part 1) 🇨🇾
zhlédnutí 43Před 3 měsíci
Welcome to a brand new series about my week in Tbilisi earlier in the year. In this first part, I fly to Cyprus because of the way the flights work, and spend a day and a half in Larnaca, under the glorious Mediterranean January sun before rushing off to the airport for my flight to Georgia (the country, not the state). A quick weekend on Paradise Island | tree camping on Brownsea 2021
zhlédnutí 65Před 3 měsíci
This is another video filmed in 2021 and again, isn't quite the video I wanted to make. There are plenty of clips of me looking awkwardly at the camera but I can never quite bring myself to talk to it. Still, you might as well take a look at my weekend tree camping on Brownsea Island. There will be a better version, a proper vlog, coming later this summer because I'm going over again and doing ...
Princetown branch railway hike | Dartmoor June 2021
zhlédnutí 18Před 4 měsíci
All the way back in June 2021, I did a nice and gentle but reasonably long hike along the route of the old railway that ran between Plymouth and Yelverton. I filmed it but it's taken nearly three years to turn it into a video - and to be honest, it's not the video I hoped it would be because it's too windy to hear a word I said in the many bits where I turned the camera on myself. If you want t...

Looks great! Thank you for this!
Thank you, I'm glad you liked it!
Good job Madame… are you a icelandic citizen?
Oh no, I'm just an Iceland fan. I'd love to move there but I don't think it's going to be practical.
Love your videos! We are going to Iceland this early September for our honeymoon and your videos have helped us a lot :) Will you be going to Iceland and making anymore videos?
Thank you, I'm glad they're useful! I will absolutely be going back to Iceland at some point, I just don't know when yet. Hoping to squeeze in a few days this summer but we'll have to see about that.
Promo*SM 😩
Excellent video! We cant wait to visit Hvammsvik
Thank you, I hope it's as magical for you as it was for me
I can taste the helium
This is a dumb question, but we are visiting Iceland in September. I would love to film when we are in the geothermal pools and Hvammsvik. What do you use and how do you protect it from the water? Thanks
I have a GoPro Hero 8 Black, which is waterproof (rinse off any minerals in clean water when you leave). Phones are great too - If yours isn't waterproof, you can take it in a waterproof case - most of the pools sell them at reception and the Blue Lagoon & Forest Lagoons definitely have them at the in-water bars too, although a warning that some of them are single-use and you'll need to literally cut your phone out afterwards. Some people were taking clearly non-waterproof phones in the water in Ikea sandwich bags and one person had theirs wrapped in a towel which they held above their head!
@@polarbearjuliet Many thanks for the info and laugh at the Ikea sandwich bags! We we look into it. Have so many questions but will wait to see if future videos answer them. Thanks for the great content
Great videos. Have you been to Hvammsvik hot spring? Do you recommend it? Many thanks
I have, and that video (last in the series) is out next Tuesday (spoiler: yes, I love Hvammsvík!)
@@polarbearjuliet Brilliant! That's the one we are thinking of going to. Looking forward to the video!
@@folkym9933Thank you for watching, it's so exciting to hear someone say they're looking forward to my video!
Hi. Enjoyed your videos on Icelands thermal pools. For this video the music is much too loud compared to your voice levels. Thanks for sharing your Iceland experience.
I found some problem with your channel due to which video views are not increasing
I've just seen this video, I love it! Thanks so much for sharing, 30 years is incredible!! xx
Coming up 17 as a leader, the rest was just being a Rainbow/Brownie/Guide/YL. Thanks for watching!
i was there in summer time and this was fantastic experience for me. Maybe views from the pool are not the best but this warm water and blue colour is great
The Blue Lagoon is great!
I would never go there now that the entire area is volcanically active, and now it's confirmed to have a magma chamber underneath it that is forcing the land up.
No, it’s all very unsettled right now but it’ll calm down eventually.
@@polarbearjuliet That 'eventually' could be in 400 years.
@@CrogathoYes, it could. No one knows how long Reykjanes is going to be active. But the last time Iceland had something like this, it was the Krafla Fires in the north-east, where a series of eruptions and increased activity lasted just nine years. You also have to bear in mind that the area that's become active lately is around 30 miles long and 10 miles wide. It's been volcanically active for nearly three years now and the three previous eruptions have been nowhere near the Blue Lagoon. It's entirely likely once this area calms down - which could be tomorrow or in six months or who knows how long - that the next area to wake up and the next eruption might be miles away.
We spent two weeks driving the ring road in October, and our favorite thermal bath was Geosea in Husavik. It wasn't crowded and the view across the ocean was beautiful. The color of the water at Blue Lagoon was neat, but really that's all. The view weren't great, and there were a lot of people.
Geosea does have spectacular views!
Hello Linda, I’ writing from Italy, I like your house, small and cozy ! That glass window is wonderful! It must be nice to sit in a tub outside while the wind is blowing! Never tried! Best wishes for the festivities coming! Andra!
It was an amazing place to spend a week and yes, sitting in the hot water while it's cold and windy is a delight!

Well, I went on my own but I joined day tours with tour companies most days.
Great job with this video Love it
Thank you, it's my first proper try at it!
I had an amazing time watching this Iceland vlog video! What a great way to experience the world. Thank you!!! I am a fan now

Wow, never knew there were places that used hovercrafts for public transit! I've always wanted to go to the Isle of Wight but suddenly it became a lot more urgent 🙂
I’m not certain but I think this is pretty much the last public transport hovercraft in the world. Definitely in Europe, anyway. It’s great fun! I could happily just hover back and forth all day.
