This part stuck with me for weeks after the film, because my takeaway from this man was that Paul was seeing and experiencing a possible future in which that man was his greatest friend, and unfortunately Paul had to choose to take the path forward that meant he had to kill that very same man before the future he saw could come to be. And Paul’s ‘loss of humanity’ you mentioned was kind of also that weight of mourning the companionship of a man he never got the chance to know but also experienced an entire life of friendship in that vision of him. Mourning the potential of what could have been. I guess that was my perspective of Paul saying things don’t always play out exactly as he sees them. I’m obsessed with your comments on Paul’s lack of agency in his own story. It is one of my favorite themes in this story. The Bene Gesseret (forgot how to spell of) have planned bloodlines for centuries, so Paul’s agency has been usurped from his hands for centuries.

I believe in aliens, kind of. We live in a vast, complex universe. Life has the potential to exist in many places and could potentially take many forms. I fully believe it's out there in many places, as mere microbes or an evolution that far surpasses our own. But I don't for a second believe that anyone on earth has had an encounter. The thing is, the potential environment to sustain life is rare. Who knows how rare life actually existing within that potential is (since we've never seen it, we can't begin to estimate). What are the chances it would be close to earth ("close" being thousands of light years)? And what about overlapping timing? The earth has only existed for a blink compared to the whole universe, complex life only a blink within that, humans only a blink of that, space travel only a blink of that. The sad fact is that we'll probably die off as a species before we travel beyond our solar system to have a real look around. So what are the chances that not only something somewhere else has achieved that high improbability but that their shimmer of space travel (even if it dwarfs our own time in the cosmos) overlaps with our own near-negligible era of comprehending what we would be seeing? Even if we can imagine that freak coincidence after freak coincidence (x10000000) happens and an intelligent alien species visits us in the modern era (modern meaning past few thousand years), what are the chances they'd be milling about, snatching people up? People have been telling those stories for the past 100 years and some believe they've been here for thousands. So the aliens have just been chilling, doing scientific research this whole time? Pranking us by building weird structures? No. The great marvel of the universe is that through the span of it's whole existence (big bang to heat death), a diversity of life and beauty and wonder will enrich it. The great tragedy of the universe is that the size and time and rarity means that likely none of those occurrences of life and beauty and wonder will ever be able to touch. It's kind of a lonely thought.

This is basically a film noir detective film like they had in the 40's, and they were Mystery Thrillers.

Well Dunes an above average movie, an above average forgettable movie. There is no way Dune is even half-way as revolutionary as Star War.

If you love the lore, then the book will BLOW YOUR MIND, because there is still SO MUCH MORE than they could have ever fit in the film adaptions. The Dune novels (all 6) are extremely deep and filled with detail, nuance, philosophy, religion, politics, destiny/prescience, ecology, etc. The first novel came out in 1965, and is considered possibly the greatest sci fi novel of all time. You'd love it. Btw, George Lucas definitely borrowed a lot from Dune when he wrote Star Wars. Dune is the granddaddy.

Shame about Robin and Elliot (singer does the soundtrack songs) both went the same way.

Dude (see what I did there lol)...I enjoy your reactions so please take this as constructive criticism. You need to work on the way you edit. It's VERY jarring to cut dialogue in mid sentence. It (even as a reaction video) really detracts from enjoying the flow of the narrative. Just cut after the lines/scenes that you see as valuable are complete...the mid sentence cuts are not working. I'll still gonna watch...All the best.

Many will point out how the visions show possible futures but overlook that his visions are also not always literal but require correct interpretation. It is wild that he can learn from future events that never happen.

Just another comment.. Zendaya has a bigger role in the second movie. Not a straight up leading role, but she is essential.. also it's very much a different feel.. the lore is laid out and we go go go..
