Is It Safe to Visit Fuerteventura? The Scum British Press at It Again.
Several people have contacted me asking if it is safe to come to Fuerteventura due to the ridiculous scaremongering articles in the British Press (as usual) about "the tourism protests."
It is, of course, completely safe and totally unchanged here. You won't find snipers taking potshots at tourists or the streets filled with rioting locals chanting "Tourists Go Home!"
It is hard to believe that people still read newspapers and actually believe what they write, particularly the worst of all the gutter press, the Guardian. But, sadly, they do.
Now that a general election has been announced, there will be so much (left-wing) propaganda in them that, even if the Martians were to invade in the next 6 weeks, they probably wouldn't find any space to mention it. Unless the Martians have hairstyles like Donald Trump, of course, in which case they will be able to find something derogatory to say about them.

For a change, we only had to travel half a mile to visit something interesting (well for me anyway). It was much better than I thought it would be as some years ago we went to a car show elsewhere in Fuerteventura that had just two cars on display. There were some really great cars on show, my particular favourite being the Ford Prefect which must have been around 70 years old. Not the oldest c...

Will this work on a 19.2v lithium batteries?
"They" say you shouldn't do this with lithium batteries due to a risk they may catch fire. Some comments have said they have done this with them but I can't recommend it.
how about if you have only 1 battery
Borrow a similar one from a friend perhaps?
I've been to Lanzarote 3 times during the last 5 years. I went to Mallorca for a week last January and loved it. I have decided that its better to visit a country where I am welcome as a tourist. A flight to The Philippines costs €800 to €1000 and 4 star resorts cost €50 per night. 60 cents for a bottle of beer in a shop or €1 for the same beer in a bar. Very welcoming and friendly people.
I know it is cheap there. I have a few friends who spend at least half a year there or in that part of the world.
how do you know which terminal is positive ??
If you are jumping two identical batteries then you don't need to as you just connect like for like. Otherwise you could use a multimeter if it isn't marked.
@@JPinFuerteventura CAN I PRECHARGE WITH A 12V IF MY BAD BATTERY IS 18V
Ideally they should be the same, however, as it is a lower voltage it should do no harm
@@JPinFuerteventura BUT I DONT HAVE ANOTHR BATTERY ....... JUST A 12 VOLT CHARGER.... AND A MULTI METER
Surely you know someone with an 18v powertool who would lend you a battery for a few hours
Great to see you back JP, best wishes to Sue
Thanks Mary
Welcome back hope She is getting back on her feet
She is fully recovered thanks :-)
Hi I am thinking of booking Coral Cotillo Beach in September what is the status of the building works?
Not quite finished yet but I would say all the noisy work is done
Thank you for a "plain speaking" opinion on visiting the Canary Islands. I is despise the "news" and haven't watched it in years. I feel much better!
I'm glad you think so. Thanks for watching.
I only wish he had put the VOM meter on the terminals to show us how much voltage he had restored after the full charge. With all the success stories listed here, how many of the "fixed" batteries will hold their charge for 3-4 months after the fix? My 14.4v old Snap on drill nicad battery I run down to zero rpm and then charge it and itr gets back up to almost 15vdc. IF it sits for a couple months, it's dead as can be.. Not sure how you fix that....
There are lots of things I coud have done Max but when I made this video I only had about 50 subscribers and just thought this tip may help one or two of them. I had no idea it would get so many views.
Old and too far gone.
I'm soooo hurt
hi jp has that hotel been built yet ? am going to book the coral beach the town looks lovely and quiet
They are apartments and not quite finished yet but most of the noisy work should be over. Cotillo is a nice chilled place (except during the fiesta in August).
Worked for me.
Great
Very interesting and helpful. I have similar situation where I put the battery on charger for two days and when I connect the battery to the drill it works for 30 seconds and then it stops. Mine is a RYOBI 9.6V battery (No. 130269014). It has 4 prongs but the drill has only two connector. Can I charge it with a drip charger that I use to charge my lawn tractor battery? Thank you.
If it charges, but doesn't hold its charge, it sounds like you have a damaged cell or cells
@@JPinFuerteventura Thank you for your prompt response. So there is no chance to revive it? I can't seem to find a replacement battery like this on Amazon.
@robkeshav800 I think the only way to solve this may be to open it up, test each cell and, if possible, buy replacements. There are videos on CZcams that show how to do this.
How can you do it if you only have 1 battery?
Borrow a similar one from a friend perhaps?
It worked for my Ryobi 18v battery. I used 2 electrical wires, attached for 30 seconds. Took 1 hr to fully charge. This bat. sat in basement for 3 yrs & I thought it was dead. Many thanks, JP, from Newfoundland, Canada.
I am glad it helped
Hi All, I have just tried this but the old batery gets really hot and smells burnt. Am I doing something wrong?
I have found the issue. The two batteries have to have the same characteristics for it to work, or at least in the case of erbauer 18v 2.0 ah. I tried it and it is charging👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻… I will tell in hour or so if it worked. The issue I got now is that the guide light of the drill does not go off. Does anyone know how to turn it off? It is meant to go off on its own after you stop using the drill.
Sorry, just saw your comment. I am glad you worked out the problem. I have never heard of the light problem. I wonder if that is why your battery went flat in the first place?
Nailed that you did JP..👏
Cheers Dwaine
We have just come back from our week and as normal it was beautiful.. my wife’s Aunt has retired there and is loving it.. Can’t wait to get back soon
I'm glad you had a good time Darren
So happy to see you JP in shape I wonder if you can recommend local website to rent apartment in Fuerteventura
There isn't just one site unfortunately. You need to look at lots. If you send me an eamil Bartek I will give you a few to try.
MSM lowest scum on the planet 🪐……have not watched BBC or MSM for 15 years
|'ve bought a work light from Lidl for 3 quid (normally 20-25) knowing about this it was on knock down and confident it has gone below the charge to be re-charged but don't care Its still new condition, I'm sure I can revive it, I just came to confirm and leaving it on charge for a day knowing I'm probably waisting time but will do the trick tomorrow and totally confidant it will work
As suspected it was a waste of time leaving it overnight on the charger but I felt I had to try and was dead next morning but a quick flash on another battery the charged recognised it and its brand new, take notice of this trick people it works
Thanks for letting me know. Glad it helped.
That's right
You're a man of the people, a man for the people, AND MAN DO PEOPLE LOVE YOU!!🖖🖖🤜🤛♥️♥️
Steady on James ;-)
Dangerous, by todays standards batteries need to have a BLM that cuts off at a safe lower voltage to prevent complete depletion. Chargers need to be smart to trickle charge the first few minutes as Lithium batteries can be very unstable. This charger is a dumb charger doesn't have any protection or stage charging... it can overheat and set batteries on fire. The only this the charger did was it detected the battery was in undervoltage state and refused to charge out of safety.
These weren't lithium batteries
The “jumper cable” charging method worked! I tried the off and on, off and on method, but that didn’t work. The battery needed the boost to fool the charger! I used a couple of wires and electrical tape to hold them on and after 15 minutes…success!! Thanks!
I am glad it helped
I have two dead 12V dewalt ones but no other 12v ones only 18v - guess there is no solution for that?
Borrow a similar 12v from a friend perhaps?
Not many people have the 12v ones now. The battery seems to charge to about 5.5v but won’t go past that. The other battery gets to about 2v. 1st one Not flashing broken now either. Was not doing anything before but I used my tester to check the charger voltage and after that it seems to have started charging even if it’s not the full voltage. I think the batteries are past it as had the unit for about 10 years now.
Yes, if they are actually charging but not to a very high voltage then it, unfortunately, sounds like they have damaged cells. This method won't solve that.
JP I agree 100%.
JP, your advice just allowed me to rejuvenate a 200 euro battery for which I could not find a replacement. You sir, are a legend.
I am glad it helped Maurice
Visit here every December, beautiful island, never had any trouble. Once I saw a drunk local shouting, in 6 visits, that's an every day occurance in the uk.
Couldn,t agree more with your comments, ourselves we haven,t had a newspaper in the house for 15 years and don,t intend to start. We have been coming to El Cotillo for some 16 years and have no intention of stopping. Next visit June 5th for ten days, can,t wait😍
Sorry I disagree the locals shouldn't be priced out of the housing market
I agree but it is the government that should be providing social housing for them that they can afford
Me and my wife visited Feureventura for my wife's Birthday in February this year , i suffer badly from SAD , so i put away the light box and enjoyed some real sunshine, the media won't stop us coming, anyway the caneries need the tourist's for their livihood.
the same media think men can have kids
Very true
Funnily enough within a second of seeing you I instinctively know you are a Thatcher's child, all about oneself, ta ta.
Thank you for thinking I look young enough to have been a child during Margaret Thatcher's premiership
Tourism kills tourism. It's good what the local govt is doing, capping rents for locals.
They aren't capping rents
I go to mainland Spain a lot. I hear all of this nonsense. Cannot understand why visitors to Spain believe the rubbish that the British Media puts out under the guise of being helpful.
Thanks! I also live on the island and appreciate your thoughts and videos very much. I agree that the living situation overall has been problematic for years, and I hope that international reporting on this issue will take the larger development into account.
Thank you
Absolutely great video, my first time in Fuerteventura was 18th years ago and it was in Corralejo ( i hated hotel etc . also everyone was Brit and you didn't feel you r in Spain) After that we never go for all inclusive in fact we did only for children. We went to El Cotillo it was so different calm but yet no commercial building, literally nobody was ther and now seeing your video looks so different. Thank you for sharing. All the best and maybe see you in July 🫶
Hi JP, it's the same in Birmingham they have just gone bust. No council housing being built. They can afford to put boat people in top hotels, but not our own people. There is so much land in Caleta where I go. Why don't they build property there for the local people. My answer is greed on the political system there no money for them. What do you think. Jim Birmingham.
Tyhe only difference between the corrupt politicians here and back in the Uk is that they don't hide it so well here.
Thanks for the update JP. Glad to see you're well and enjoying your life.
Lol, JP, fight the matrix!! Very pleasant, panoramic view on this media bollox situation. Not only there, you can see it everywhere. Cheers
Another great film JP. I share your love of Fuerteventura, there in March and October last year, and will be again this September. I agree with you about journalists, my view is that they are lower than a snakes belly. My rant about politicians would take too long and be too unprintable. All the best , C.
Great to see you. Thanks for the update. Sorry to hear the sad pet stories. Speedy recovery to Sue
Thanks for the rant. Great to see you vlogging.
Scum and British press. Couldn't have put it better myself. They are scum.
100% agree with you, the media is run by politicians, we are told what they want to tell us and no more. It doesn’t matter if what they are telling us is fabricated they still expect us to believe it.Free speech there is no free speech anymore
CZcams put your comment into my "held for review" folder for the reason "bad words". That proves Google/CZcams do not believe in free speech. :-)
@@JPinFuerteventura free speech only exists in our minds nowadays, we can’t upset the minorities or the woke brigade
