How to Troubleshoot a dead battery and find a parasitic drain
If your car's battery is dead after sitting for a few days, but the battery and alternator work fine, you probably have a parasitic drain. It's quite common to find these in glove box lights (like the one I found) or in any aftermarket audio equipment.

How to Replace the BMW Emblems

Replacing the BMW emblems on the hood and trunk is a really easy job. Just make sure you get the real BMW emblems and not the made-in-china counterfeits. If the emblem costs less than $20 it's probably not legit and won't hold up. Check out my blog for some links / examples: www.e36bmw.com/2016/03/how-to-replace-bmw-emblem.html
Sunroof Repair: How to fix a broken sunroof on a BMW e36 3-series
zhlédnutí 255KPřed 8 lety
The plastic parts that slide the sunroof on the tracks are a common failure point for these Sunroofs. If the sunroof gets jammed, they will break. Since most 3-series cars from 1993-1998 use the same parts, this should apply to most e36 BMWs. Links to the products I used: www.e36bmw.com/2016/03/how-to-repair-sunroof-on-bmw-3-series.html

    Did mine today. The hardest part was finding the senor connector tangled. Use a good set of Vise grips that open while clamped to 32mm. Adjust to get a good grip. You don't have to unplug the vanos necessarily. 19mm wrench for vanos banjo bolt hand tight. Must use two (2) new crush washers. About 20-4 pounds torque. You feel the washers crush.

    I’ve removed my sunroof panel 4 times and had success with installation every time. However this last time I had it off for reupholstering the sliding shade panel interior piece and now I’m having an issue with that panel. When I open the sunroof back all the way it works fine and closes fine but For whatever reason when I use the tilt function the sunroof tilts just fine and the fabric panel slide back just like it’s supposed to but when I go to now lower the sunroof back down to the untitled fully closed position the interior fabric panel does not slide back forward to close with the sunroof ? And then if I forget to slide it forward by and go to open the roof it gets caught up. It’s really annoying and I’m curious if anyone sees this and has had this experience before and knows what I did wrong this last time or did something break ?

    • @stvnjmz
      @stvnjmz Před rokem

      I'm having a similar issue as I recently redid the headliner. Just to make sure, for the sunroof headliner portion you shouldn't use a thick material as that can get caught between the roof and headliner and not move. I used alcantara with no foam backing on that section and foam backed alcantara for the rest of the headliner. My issue is that the sunroof works fine when it slides back and forth (the headliner moves with it) but when I tilt the sunroof the headliner portion doesn't move at all but I can move it freely by hand. There are also some plastic clips on the tracks that could be broken as they become brittle with age as well as a plastic arm that is responsible for moving the headliner section back and forth when you use the tilt function. I guess I will have to take it apart again and check if anything is broken...

    • @onesikm3
      @onesikm3 Před rokem

      @@stvnjmz ahhh okay sort of what I was thinking it might be from but I’m not sure if the material thickness would have messed mine up ? It does have a foam backing and mine operates sliding back and forth fine and it will tilt upward fine and slid the headliner back as it’s tilting u but when I ask it to close and lower back down the headliner panel just stays in the up position and basically I have to slide it forward by hand 🤷🏼‍♂️
