I have been the proud owner of a BMW e36 328i for over 7. During that time, I have done all the work on my car. I have experienced most of the common problems. Each time I work on my car, I make a short video to help out others. I am no professional, just an average guy who likes fixing things. Caveat emptor. Subscribe to learn how to keep your BMW in top shape and get the most out of this great car!
How to Troubleshoot a dead battery and find a parasitic drain
If your car's battery is dead after sitting for a few days, but the battery and alternator work fine, you probably have a parasitic drain. It's quite common to find these in glove box lights (like the one I found) or in any aftermarket audio equipment.

How to Replace the BMW Emblems
zhlédnutí 16KPřed 8 lety
Replacing the BMW emblems on the hood and trunk is a really easy job. Just make sure you get the real BMW emblems and not the made-in-china counterfeits. If the emblem costs less than $20 it's probably not legit and won't hold up. Check out my blog for some links / examples: www.e36bmw.com/2016/03/how-to-replace-bmw-emblem.html
Sunroof Repair: How to fix a broken sunroof on a BMW e36 3-series
zhlédnutí 255KPřed 8 lety
The plastic parts that slide the sunroof on the tracks are a common failure point for these Sunroofs. If the sunroof gets jammed, they will break. Since most 3-series cars from 1993-1998 use the same parts, this should apply to most e36 BMWs. Links to the products I used: www.e36bmw.com/2016/03/how-to-repair-sunroof-on-bmw-3-series.html
How to make a vacuum smoke leak detector for cheap
zhlédnutí 353KPřed 8 lety
This is a smoke machine I made for finding automotive vacuum and exhaust leaks. The whole project cost under $40. Be careful if you try building a home made smoke machine. The mineral oil I used was not explosively flammable, but it will definitely catch fire! I bought a few fittings, bolts, etc. at a local hardware shop and purchased the following on Amazon: Resistance Wire 24 Gauge: www.amazo...
How to Replace the Camshaft Position Sensor on the BMW E36 (1998 328i)
zhlédnutí 129KPřed 9 lety
The check Engine light and code P0340 are often the result of a worn out or failing camshaft position sensor Particularly if you start noticing a lack of power and sluggish acceleration. This is an easy fix as the camshaft position sensor is located on the top front part of the M52 engine in these BMWs. As always, I am an amature mechanic contributing to the BMW community. I am not an expert an...

Installing Angel Eye Headlights on a BMW E36 (1998 328is)
zhlédnutí 79KPřed 10 lety
The BMW E36 didn't come with halo headlights, but installing the wiring for these lights is actually a pretty simple job. Wiring these headlights on my 1998 BMW 328i didn't take much time, and there isn't much that can go wrong. Just don't go cutting into unknown wires!
Repairing a rattling door panel on my BMW e36 (1998 328is)
zhlédnutí 66KPřed 10 lety
If your doors are making a rattling sound, it is probably the small plastic clips that need to be replaced. This is a cheap and easy job. For a parts list, visit my blog: www.e36bmw.com/2014/02/repairing-rattling-door-panels.html As always, please don't be an idiot. My E36 328i does not have two cam sensors only the one which you have changed. Something people should be aware of.
This dude sounds exactly like Brett Erlich
Only vid with actual information that is correct, you shouldn’t have to remove any tensioner bolts
So at the relay, if I try a few different relays and that doesn't work. Where do I go from there exactly? Anybody? I'm not too bright when it comes to electronics and tracing back problems.
Car was giving me starting problems for a solid month. No check engine light or anything. Replaced both crankshaft and camshaft sensor and car feels stronger.
thank you, made me understand the compressor alot better! :)
Love this thanks
Thank you so much you're the only one that talked and showed about the cover overall demonstration was excellent
Great vid man. 😊
This guy actually sucks at doing this. Maybe consider a different career path because CZcams isn’t for you.
move your head dumbass
Clean is good! Yes.
You don’t need to disengage the motor. I just turned the accessories on and used the motor to push everything forward. That’s after removing the top bracket and the connected pieces in front/connected
Did mine today. The hardest part was finding the senor connector tangled. Use a good set of Vise grips that open while clamped to 32mm. Adjust to get a good grip. You don't have to unplug the vanos necessarily. 19mm wrench for vanos banjo bolt hand tight. Must use two (2) new crush washers. About 20-4 pounds torque. You feel the washers crush.
Where did u order the filter cause I can't seem to find the right one
nice video
I just hate how none of these videos tell you how to remove the connectors at the bottom
I almost certainly do have this problem and I thank you for bringing light to this fault as it’s had me on my back crying for weeks now
thank you so much for this viedeo
Sounded very through, but unfortunately your arm and hands were blocking the view to actually see what you were doing and where you were doing it. Thanks for your time. 11/1/2023.
What is the name bushing on a first remove?
How can I get this smol part e36 1992 please

Hello
can a bad light switch cause fuse 33 to blow?
Where do you get the replacement bulbs?
Good Morning! Ill try this on my m52 e39. I hope I don't have to disconnect my cooler like all the other vids do and be able to do this minimally invasive. Thanks!
this video has crazy amounts of high pitched noise in the background. unbearable
I’m mostly concerned that my check engine light hasn’t come on in my e36
Is any way you can fix mine?
Great video! I just bought a 1999 323 with a cam sensor code. I think it said bank one. The engine just started to run a little rough and blows blue smoke. I am SOOOO going to take an anxiety pill before doing this. Reaching for that connector is going to stress me out! oh yeah and it's a three-motor convertible with a blown-out window, and guess what?
I’ve removed my sunroof panel 4 times and had success with installation every time. However this last time I had it off for reupholstering the sliding shade panel interior piece and now I’m having an issue with that panel. When I open the sunroof back all the way it works fine and closes fine but For whatever reason when I use the tilt function the sunroof tilts just fine and the fabric panel slide back just like it’s supposed to but when I go to now lower the sunroof back down to the untitled fully closed position the interior fabric panel does not slide back forward to close with the sunroof ? And then if I forget to slide it forward by and go to open the roof it gets caught up. It’s really annoying and I’m curious if anyone sees this and has had this experience before and knows what I did wrong this last time or did something break ?
I'm having a similar issue as I recently redid the headliner. Just to make sure, for the sunroof headliner portion you shouldn't use a thick material as that can get caught between the roof and headliner and not move. I used alcantara with no foam backing on that section and foam backed alcantara for the rest of the headliner. My issue is that the sunroof works fine when it slides back and forth (the headliner moves with it) but when I tilt the sunroof the headliner portion doesn't move at all but I can move it freely by hand. There are also some plastic clips on the tracks that could be broken as they become brittle with age as well as a plastic arm that is responsible for moving the headliner section back and forth when you use the tilt function. I guess I will have to take it apart again and check if anything is broken...
@@stvnjmz ahhh okay sort of what I was thinking it might be from but I’m not sure if the material thickness would have messed mine up ? It does have a foam backing and mine operates sliding back and forth fine and it will tilt upward fine and slid the headliner back as it’s tilting u but when I ask it to close and lower back down the headliner panel just stays in the up position and basically I have to slide it forward by hand 🤷🏼♂️
Mines was starter then I a dead cell changed I didn’t get it coded burnt my frm module replaced that now the damn car won’t start but I hear wrrrrrr 😅 and it’s killin me

Funny cause You guys dont need to take any bulbs out…… simply just press in the door Locks the switches with turn the lights off without removing any bulbs asif the car is off, i Work out of my trunk all day long and do this to not drain the battery 👍
Good to hear the radiator worked out. I loved my E46. BMW is a great car. The little improvements make it that much better. @Mishimoto.
Excellent video. That is an great presentation. Clear and concise. Great way to troubleshoot the battery drain.
Where can I find the repair kit? So many websites to the link you have in the description
Simple Solution: don’t use the sunroof
On a lot of BMW alternators if the diode is bad internally it will drain your battery. Even when the alternator is still charging . So check that too. Probably a video on that as well
I went years and years & never changed a headlight bulb. With Angel Eyes you will change them often. Wont last even a year. Pain in the ass.
Dealing with same issue on my 325i have already checked the easy bits...fusses and alternator, the drain is 80 mA.Do I have to check relays now? And maybe final stage resistor on a climate control..??
Why are you talking so slow. Geez
great work - and a great opportunity to grease the electric window mechanism. Thanks for posting.
So what did your drain end up being?
bro, your video really helped me ... taking the motor out to realign blocks --- I was losing my mind but came across your video. thanks man!
Move your god damn hand dude how are you going to show us how to do it and block the angle of everything you are doing
Thanks for the video mate! I will check the relay of my e70. I am hoping it is just a relay issue. The scanner doesn't throw any error until I turn on the AC. My best guess is that it is really a relay issue. I will update back
Couple of questions: Can you link to the bluetooth thing you used, Also, you say on the other end and then show the headphone jack.. on the other end of what? You have another cig lighter wired to the original cig lighter, then a bluetooth thingy in that, so the headphone jack is coming out of the bluetooth thingy right? I think seeing the bluetooth thingy you used would be helpful! Thanks
I’m about to do the job, but I found that the camshaft and crankshaft sensors connect (end) very close. So, which one is the end of the camshaft and which the crankshaft?? Thanks in advance
Thanks, I had just bought a E36 and there were no lights on until after refueling so once daylight I will start by checking my gas cap
