  • A video of my recent brake job. In this video I replace the brake pads and brake wear sensor. I also replaced the router (disk) and the rubber bushings in the brake caliper.
    As always, I'm just an average guy working on his car. Don't troll me with how much smarter you are, and don't think this video represents any kind of professional advice!

    Your video helped may neighbor has a BMW like this one. Just changed his rotors and brake pads but after installing them one side rattled. Thought is was the rubber boot cover the back mounting bolt but discovered the front spring is what holds the caliper tight to the caliper mount. Thanks and keep it up

    Great video ! I would always push the piston back with bleeder open and a bleeder hose in the bleeder.
    Otherwise you push contaminated fluid back through the abs box, its tiny solonoids and check valves can be quickly corroded to junk..That is a problem here on the gulf coast.

    I'm assuming by this I don't need a windback tool specific to this car? If so you've made my life a lot easier 😂😂

    Why do people always forget to remove the brake fluid reservoir cap before compressing the cyclinder?

    my rears are worn and my abs light is on but not the pad light, can the brakes being bad make the abs light come on?

    Excuse me , but i have a question . I am from Europe and me and a friend have been talking about 328is , and we are wondering does IS have any meaning about the engine itself , like more power like 1.8is? Because in the city where i live there is a guy with 2.8is that says the engine has 40nm more than the eu m52b28 . I've read in internet that IS means 2 doors but i don't think it is that.

    318, 325 and 328 just the same brake pad size?

    • @E36bmw
      @E36bmw  Před 10 lety

      I find the 318 often has different parts. You should check before buying. I recommend looking up the part number on the site realOEM.

      Thanks..some parts can be fit like rear absorber 328 can fit 318..as my friend said.

    You forgot to bleed the brakes.

    • @E36bmw
      @E36bmw  Před 10 lety +1

      Bleeding the brakes is a good idea as part of the regular maintenance since moisture can get in the brake fluid. It's something I'll do after replacing the front pads. However, bleeding the brakes is not a necessary step when replacing the pads. It's only a necessary step when you disconnect the brake line which you do not need to do to replace the pads and rotors.

      BMW Repair
      Well before I started changing the pads I opened brake reservoir and when I did job on the rear I went for a ride and car didn't stop as fast as it should. When I did the front well let me tell you like this if it wasn't for a hand brake I would crash into other car on the traffic light. Its not a good feeling when you push the brake all the way down and wheels are still spinning.

  • @Stowell1984
    @Stowell1984 Před 7 lety

    You're beyond insidious! Who doesn't check pedal feel, and bleed after a brake pad change?!
