This certainly shows that a high quality cooler was used. All thermal paste is meant to do is fill in the microscopic valleys and imperfections of the cooler and IHS. Clearly both are pretty good if it functioned well enough without thermal paste

Make bigger of everything (dots and lines) and that will work as good as #4 and #5 ...

Nice test but it would have been better if you had set up the 2 fans to push into each fin stack, as thats how the D15 normally works. Instead you set them up as push/pull on the second radiator only, which is probably why you got not much better results than the one fan setup.

What we need are cases that have a compartment for the AIO that is isolated from the rest of the case to reduce warm air on the gpu.

Pre spreading the thermal compound will only create an air gap between your cpu and cooler resulting in trapped air that is heating up, now you might think so what, the air will act as a barrier for the heat to dissipate thus the heat will be reflected, and number 2 is the cooling effect from your cooler will not be able to penetrate as effectively and result in higher temps, the lesson we learn today, just put a good blob in the middle and cross section incremental turning of the mounting screws will be far superior than trying to spread paste lol

Apparently, according to my IT Fundamentals teacher, the thermal paste is so the cooler can rest evenly on the CPU in order to equally distribute heat, instead of pooling it all in one area, because metal is not perfectly even, although some may look it. ALWAYS USE THERMAL PASTE PEOPLE. Too much is better than too little.
