Interesting video. I have a question. What about the Tibetan monks who use the tummo breathing technique to heat themselves up and even dry wet blankets while sitting in the cold, are you saying that it is actually all mental?
I have pulmonary sarcoidosis so only one of my lungs work ,I canât manage 30 inhales before I do the breath hold only about 15 ,should I continue or am I wasting my time ?

Wonderful video đ đ. You mentioned the adrenaline can get as high as skydiving when doing the Wim Hof method breathwork - maybe this is why i encounter a challenge when getting myself to build the habit that will save my life by recreating my immune system... but I learned another kind of opposite way of breathing wherein one lessens and slows their oxygen intake by about 10%... I never would have guessed something gentler could be more powerful to ease the sometimes 24/7 anxiety and constant drive to overwork myself ... cheers đ„ to exploring the unfamiliar & creating đ âš content

Telling the body not to react to the cold works but requires years of building trust through experience. I spend much longer than 3min in freezing water regularly. Not something anyone without experience should try. My back and ribs glow with warmth as I sit calmly in the cold, external muscle tight, diaphragm very slowly pushing against them, a very slow isometric exercise. What Wim does is known but requires practice. This Taoist technique is old and different from the hypo/ hyper ventilation technique he teaches
Well said Bo, The visualization is a tool, a language used to tell the body what the mind wants. Wim may be doing this unconsciously or he may have spent time learning the old ways but does not speak of them. The isometric Tummo technique is different from the Wim Hof breathing he teaches, that said, he does clearly know it.
Is there somewhere I can learn this Iâm trying to do the same thing. Like a book you recommend or such
@@Deimos_the_Autist forgive me, Iâm being intentionally vague because these words are for Kitaro who has the experience to understand them. I recommend you find a teacher who can decide if you are stable enough for the psychological challenges you seek.

there are some very subtle effects from chronic use. It robs us of our birthright to feel calm, safe, and generally good in life. Chronic caffeine numbs emotion, causes a subtle buzzing restlessness through our nerves. I remember in my early 20's when I used to drink coffee one 1-3 times a week. I remember feeling a calmness in life that I have not felt in nearly 20 years.
I cannot inhale to the fullest through my nose. Even after my longest and like 5 more snorts of air my lungs still aren't as full as with a mouth inhale

Hello Kitaro thanks for your videos. I find myself able to do much deeper faster breaths if im sitting and moving my torso and head forward and up during the in breath and then straight during the exhale. However, this seems to use up a lot more of my energy and i am unable to do the breathholds for longer duration even after 4-5 rounds. Is this approach not optimal? If i do just normal sitting or lying deep breathing seems much less deep and i feel the effects much less, but the breath holds are much longer this way.

I took a break from coffee in November and I seriously enjoyed not having coffee. But I got back into going to coffee shops to have alone time and got back into having it 3x a week or more. I have realized insomnia, low energy, and increased anxiety so I will not be having any for a while. I searched coffee and mental health and this came up. So thank you for this video, it's a great reminder that I need to have time apart from it again.
