  • @receivedpronunciation6696

Dutch is a simplified German. Before 1945, Dutch looked more like German than today as it employed "der, des, den", just like German does. But after World War II, Dutch has sounded and looked more like English. Many Dutch people now speak Dutch with an American English 'r' when the 'r' is at the end of words and before consonants. Take 'de storm is over' vs 'the storm is over'. Now, they are heard 99% the same!

It's a Bulgarian dialect and nothing will ever change that. Do you really think that a land locked country like yours has It's own distinct language. You are all part of slavic family. You all should've stayed 1 country. You slavs speak the same language with different dialects. Separated by religion. Half of you slavs followed orthodoxy and the other half Catholic. You slavs have nothing to do with antiquity. Trouble makers will be your legacy. 🤡 @tatjanavelkova5814

My company had a subsidiary in Lisbon, so I learnt the Euroversion (muito chato, mas eu adoro!) and it helped me finally to improve the communication with my Portuguese colleagues, as well as make good Brazilian and Portuguese friends that brought me happiness to my life, including my wife! ❤🇧🇷🇵🇹

You may not need a “gift” to learn anything but it will require extra efforts to master what you put your mind into. So instead of using the word “gift”, I will use “talent” which we're born with and as such it makes both words interchangeable. Someone once said that if “you do what you love for a living, you do not work a day in your life.” - I tend to think of myself as having a talent for languages and none as a bricklayer or gardening even though I love plants. When I was 12 years old, in a small town upstate São Paulo, I took a year of French (with a great Japanese Brazilian teacher) and I was able to converse with her (basic stuff) within six months, then when I was 15 in Brasilia, I had English down within six months, and I was and still am fluent. Later in life I decided to improve my French and found out that it was a lot easier because I had Portuguese and English to back me up. Lately I decided to give it a go with Spanish and Italian. I can communicate in those languages without even trying. So Yes, I'd say I have a GIFT/TALENT, and so do you Jonathan my friend.

Knowing a lot of words doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be able to speak that language impeccably. You need to connect those words perfectly for a lot of topics. So focusing only on learning just words is not very productive.
