ee cummings poems:
somewhere i have never travelled, gladly beyond
any experience, your eyes have their silence:
in your most frail gesture are things which enclose me,
or which i cannot touch because they are too near
your slightest look easily will unclose me
though i have closed myself as fingers,
you open always petal by petal myself as Spring opens
(touching skillfully, mysteriously) her first rose
or if your wish be to close me, i and
my life will shut very beautifully, suddenly,
as when the heart of this flower imagines
the snow carefully everywhere descending;
nothing which we are to perceive in this world equals
the power of your intense fragility: whose texture
compels me with the colour of its countries,
rendering death and forever with each breathing
(i do not know what it is about you that closes
and opens; only something in me understands
the voice of your eyes is deeper than all roses)
nobody, not even the rain, has such small hands
if there are any heavens my mother will(all by herself)have
one. It will not be a pansy heaven nor
a fragile heaven of lilies-of-the-valley but
it will be a heaven of blackred roses
my father will be(deep like a rose
tall like a rose)
standing near my
(swaying over her
silent)
with eyes which are really petals and see
nothing with the face of a poet really which
is a flower and not a face with
hands
which whisper
This is my beloved my
(suddenly in sunlight
he will bow,
& the whole garden will bow)
little man
(in a hurry
full of an
important worry)
halt stop forget relax
wait
(little child
who have tried
who have failed
who have cried)
lie bravely down
sleep
big rain
big snow
big sun
big moon

@@LostMyThread it's hard to make recs since you are in the UK. i prefer nylon/spandex over poly/spandex but i've used both successfully. and i try to read descriptions carefully to see if they say anything about opacity. Surge Fabrics is really good about telling you if the fabric is sheer when stretched. oh, and i highly recommend using wooly nylon thread in the loopers of your serger.

I have made 4 different leggings patterns and hands down my TNT is the Cavallo Leggings by Greenstyle Patterns. It has massive pockets which is my favorite part about it. I have also made the Avery Leggings and my first version out of supplex was uncomfortably tight all over, especially the calves and the waist (which I did add elastic to). Greenstyle tends to fit me right out of the envelope which is probably why I love the Cavallo Leggings so much. If you want to wait for it to go on sale, their best sale of the year is usually around Black Friday. Hope that helps!

I absolutely love the Apostrophe Pattern for leggings. Honestly this pattern is amazing. It makes a legging pattern for your unique body unlike buying a sized pattern. You input your measurements and it spits out a pattern uniquely yours. And even better there is no limit to how many different sizes you can make. I’ve made shorts, capris, leggings for me, for my daughter, my granddaughters all using the same pattern. You only buy it once and just save it as a different name. If your size changes no big deal, you input the new measurement and print a new pattern. Definitely worth it

Your dress is lovely, and looks so nice on you! I really see how it fits in with your style and inspiration board. As far as leggings go, it can be tricky. I haven't found a pattern and fabric that I would want to jog in. I just buy athletic leggings from Amazon, but I find that I have to size down for my jogging leggings. Not as comfortable, but it makes me less jiggly and the leggings don't sag. Just food for thought. Your quilt is so inspiring and beautiful! Congrats again on 10K!!!

I'm sorry to hear that! It does take a few rows of elastic for it to start to gather. Definitely try doing at least 4 to 5 rows and giving it a good steam before you decide it isn't working. If it still isn't gathering, I would try pulling the shirring elastic more as you're winding it on to the bobbin. And make sure that it's sliding through the tension areas of the bobbin holder. Wishing you luck! 🤞

Thank you! I think the design of the March dress doesn't really give my ideal finish, so I am happy with the choices that I made. I'll have to think on options when I make one again. I really do like how this one turned out. Wore it and felt comfortable on the hottest day of the year so far!

You look great in leggings. Thx for the poems, Robert Frost is my fav, from childhood. Yr home n colors are gorgeous, well done. My goal is to finish all the many quilts that are not done from last year, working on it at present. Thx again. ❤

Thank you! Robert Frost is a classic, for sure! I need to check him out again sometime. Great to hear that you're working through your goal for the year. Quilts are such a process, I completely understand why you put off those finishing steps. Good luck!

Your honest reviews are so helpful, especially for those of us who've never sewn pants. I've been wanting to try making the Chanterelle pants , and now I will definitely give them a go.

That's so nice to hear! Good luck on your first pants. Fitting pants is definitely a journey, so don't expect perfection from the first pair. Have fun!

Looking forward to the next episode. Really interesting on how easy the different pattern companies have made it to get a better fit for your body.

Awesome, glad to hear it! It's so unlikely to have these patterns fit perfectly straight away, so being able to adjust the pattern is hugely important!

So interesting to see the differences in fitting between the 3 patterns out of the packet. And super-helpful for you to also tell us what adjustments you're going to make. I really like how the Palisade and Pietra pants look. Will be great to see them made up

It was interesting how the three all needed different adjustments. It goes to show how different each pattern company's block is!

I love the pocket detail on the Palisade shorts but I would probably try to control the way the gathers occur on the side panel above the pocket. I'd probably Sew a seam along the back seam to stop it gathering too much on the side and let more gathering occur at the back.

    • @LostMyThread
      @LostMyThread Před 4 dny

There are optional seams on the elasticated waist section, but I didn't do that, as I was hoping to re-use the elastic on my final pair. You could absolutely distribute the gathers differently, but I guess it would end up creating more gathering at the back, like the Pietras. Worth playing around with to get what you like, though!

The design of the Dorian shorts looks really strange in the product photos because the zip looks too short and the crotch looks too deep on the model.

    • @LostMyThread
      @LostMyThread Před 4 dny

Interesting point. I've looked back at the photos and wonder if it's the model's proportions? Or maybe she's pulling it so high up because the rise is too high? I'll be shortening below the zip, so I hope it works out better for me.

I love the pietra shorts. Although last year's are a little snug on me now 😂 Since then I have learned how to adjust the rise so looking forward to my next pair. I am about to cut out shorts, a pair of tapered and a pair of wide legged pietras 💜💚💜
