- I picked up a few goodies at the Stitch Festival last weekend and want to share them with you!
Today I'm wearing the Peppermint Wrap Top by Elbe Textiles in an avocado dyed cotton double gauze from Sew Me Sunshine.

I’ve been avoiding any fabric hauls or unboxing of fabric this year as I’m trying hard to focus on sewing my stash … but I made the exception with you as you choose such lovely natural fabrics. I’ve gone full circle on double gauze - I now really love it and that fruit dg for your Mum’s blouse is just GORGEOUS 🥰. Enjoy your sewing Theresa. 😀
I'm really not a big fan of fabric hauls, myself. I don't watch them, and I don't like promoting the heavy materialism (no pun intended). On the other hand, I felt like I picked up too many special fabrics not to share. I'm glad you enjoyed. And yes, I've fallen hard for double gauze these days!
Love the quilted fabric. A sort of seventies design but not in a seventies colour. Very special.
Yeah, exactly! It really stood out to me as being very different from anything I've seen before. I think it's going to be really cool.
It’s so nice to see and feel fabric! I have been on a at home casual set kick since January, mainly because of a pattern I absolutely love 💕. The Pattern Scout Comfy Lounge Set has been so fun to sew up and just fits me so well. If you’re looking for a new PJ pattern I highly recommend it. I’ve added side in seam pockets and back pockets so they are acceptable to wear out. All your fabrics and buttons are going to be fun to make up. I’ll be watching to see what you make. I think I would be tempted to use both sides of that quilted material .
Thanks, Jan! I think being able to see and feel the fabric is why I got a little carried away. Still, I have no regrets! I've heard really good things about the pattern scout comfy it lounge set. I'll give it another look, if I don't think I've got patterns that I can use.
What great purchases & the fabric you chose for your mother with those vibrant green buttons will look amazing. Look forward to seeing them all made up - you’re certainly going to be busy Theresa.😊
I really hope my Mom loves it as much as I do! I'm pretty backed up with sewing plans now... Which is a happy problem to have! 😉
Hi Theresa. Great buys! I would love to attend something like that in the U.S.😊
I feel like London is spoiled for this kind of thing. I'm sure they must have them somewhere in the US... it's just such a huge country that it would be rare for it to be local. Maybe you just need to plan a trip to London one day...? 😉
Love those neon buttons, they'd really pop on a black Anna Allen Anthea blouse! And the cloud buttons are adorable ❤
I am honestly obsessed with those neon buttons. Somebody else suggested a dark chambray shirt. Now that you mention the Anthea Blouse, a vision may be coming together!
Love all the buttons and the fabric godmother quilted fabric is gorgeous. Looking forward to seeing the fabrics made up
Thank you! The quilted vest is top of my list because I feel like it will be a really quick one to put together.
Oh, the reddish quilted fabric! I have been looking for a special quilted fabric for a Cashmerette Fairfax Jacket - I had to pause your thoughts whilst I ‘acquired’ the blue version! I thank you, my bank balance does not!
Haha, oh I'm so glad that I was able to help you find the perfect fabric. That sounds like a great choice for the Fairfax. I hope it turns out as beautifully as it sounds!
I TOTALLY went online and bought that Orange Pigeon Wishes Fabric! I love it! My husband and I just bought season tickets for the theater in town and it is always cold during the shows. So I am going to make a cardigan too! 😄
Hahaha, happy to have made you aware of it! I didn't realize that you could buy it online. I think it's going to be a beautiful cardigan for both of us!
Love your selection of fabrics and buttons - those Ethel & Joan buttons are SO pretty! It was such a good day 😊
Thank you so much! I always go nuts with the buttons. It's just great to have a stock for upcoming projects, right? Was a really good day, if a little crazy busy!
So great to meet you xxx love your haul and plans.. that quilted fabric! It’ll make an amazing waistcoat! I’m so glad I didn’t see your fabric when we met. I would have gone and bought every single one 😉
I actually hadn't picked most of it up at that point, Rachael. After we split up, I went back around to the stalls and they were a lot quieter. It was able to look around a bit more, and fabric after fabric just spoke to me! I don't know if I was just in a shopping mood or happened to spot more of those unique fabrics, but man did I go crazy. 🤣 No regrets!
Loved meeting you and wish we could have spent more time together. Your sister seemed like a lot of fun, too. We will have to meet up again sometime. I've heard there's a really good Mexican restaurant in Chiswick? 🌮😉
@@LostMyThread no regrets!!! Love this! I’ll go back next year with a good shopping and sewcialising strategy!!! I’d love to meet up again! Let’s see can we make it happen… Tim Tams with margaritas 😂😂😂
Gorgeous fabric! Wish we could buy ribbing in more colours than we get here…black, cream, white, etc. Also the fabric..never see anything like these! I am really looking forward to your makes!
I definitely nab the stuff up when I find it. It's also great to be able to find it when you have the fabric in hand, to know that you've got a good match. I was determined to get what I needed before I left!
I could feel your excitement! I love everything that you purchased ❤
Thanks, Sheree! I may have gotten a little bit carried away. But I don't get to shop in person that often! That was the excuse I gave myself, anyway. 😉
Fun watching how excited you are with the festival experience and your treasures. Look forward to seeing your makes as you complete them. I love the cardigan fabric and ribbing.
Thank you, Nancy! I think the cardigan is on the top of my list. It was nice to find such unique fabrics. I couldn't leave them behind!
I love what you bought your mum, it is just perfect for a shirt. I also love the colour of double gauze that you are wearing - it suits you so well.
Thank you so much! I've definitely been on a double gauze kick. I hope my Mom loves the peach fabric as much as I do!
Lovely purchases, Theresa! You'll be well stocked up for the Sew Fruity challenge in the summer! 😉
I didn't realise until after I went home that I was on a major fruity kick! I absolutely thought of you and your challenge... as long as I don't sew these all up before then! (One down already 😉)
The peach fabric for your mom ❤❤❤. The cloud buttons on a coat or sweater would be beautiful. We have similar tastes in fabric. Love everything.
Thank you so much, Christine! I'm really excited about the peach fabric. And yes, I think the cloud buttons need to be on a coat or a sweater. Maybe something soft, like a cloud. ☁️😉
I so rarely shop for Fabric in person. It is so fun! I shop by touch 😂 so in clothing stores I'm in the minority, but in fabric stores... everyone is walking around touching everything 🤣 my people ❤🎉
I am 100% there with you. My Mom always taught me to go around touching fabric in clothes stores. She even goes so far as to brush really soft fabric against her cheek. I absolutely take after her. We are hilarious together! So yeah, fabric shopping in person is just dangerous... 😂
@LostMyThread that's awesome!! I once walked into a store where everything was rayon and I about had a fit. NO! NO! NO! THIS IS ALL WRONG! 😤
Love the stitch festival, our favourite thing by far was meeting all the other vloggers and sewists. Such a fantastic community 🤩😍
I certainly haven't met so many at past shows. This one was quite the vlogger party!
@@LostMyThread there was so many. I loved meeting everyone. Already looking forward to the next one 😂🥰
Those cloud buttons would look dreamy on a white and pink quilted coat. Perhaps the Hovea jacket?
Oh my goodness, yes! Can I really trust myself to have a white coat, though? Or even a white fluffy fleece type fabric? It definitely needs to be soft. I will keep my eyes peeled for the right fabric!
Love your fabric choices! I also bought the neon orange buttons from Ethel & Joan, I couldn’t resist them 😀
So good, right?! It'll be fun to find the perfect project for them.
Gutted I missed you on Saturday- I hadn’t realised you were there on the same day 😢 hopefully next year we’ll make it on the same day. ❤ great haul Theresa 🎉 I had a great time, very crowded at parts but wow, on the whole a fabulous day x
I know, Emma! There are a lot of vloggers that I never managed to talk to. It was pretty hectic. It was a really fun day though, and hopefully we'll find an opportunity to meet up one day!
Beautiful fabrics. Looking forward ur makes. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much! I was overwhelmed by all the beautiful, unique choices!
Saturday was so, so busy by the sound of it! I went on Friday and that was pretty busy but by 4pm it was nice and quiet. You've chosen lovely fabrics, looking forward to seeing what you make x
It was actually surprisingly a lot quieter by even about 3pm on Saturday. I think everyone had the idea to turn up at around 11 or 12. I had a fun time though, and hope you did, too!
Great haul. Fabolous fabrics. I love everything you picked up :)
Thanks! I feel like I got a lot of really special and unique stuff!
That strawberry blouse is going to be wonderful.
I think so, too. Seeing the test version they had hanging up really got me excited.
What a fantastic fabric haul 🤩
Thank you! 💃
Fun purchases. The bright orange buttons on denim or chambray. Red would be expected but the orange is FUN! The creamsicle buttons are divine. I have the perfect orange linen. Enjoy your goodies.
Oooh yes, those orange buttons on a dark denim or chambray... Love that idea! I'm going to have to keep my eyes peeled for just the right fabric. Thank you so much for the suggestion!
Hi Theresa, I think you were on a fruitfest at the stitch festival. All very fruity fabrics but very lovely. I think you have a good eye for matching your ribbing too, amazing how the green matched and that lilac really brings out the other colours in the fabric. Happy sewing and I'm looking forward to your reveal vlog. 😊
Thank you so much! I actually didn't realize until after I left that so many of them were fruit themed. It made me laugh when I realized! I'm so glad to have gotten the ribbing because those are definitely the kinds of things that are much harder to buy online at a later date. I feel fully set up for success!
That raspberry colored reversible quilted is so cool. It looks soft. I think I would struggle with the temptation to make the vest reversible too.
I am going to do bias binding on the inside of the vest so, it could end up being reversible. We will see you when I finish.
@@LostMyThread 😃
I was there on the Saturday too, it was so busy! My first time attending and I spent way too much 😂 was a really interesting day though and I’d like to go again. Love all your fruity fabric, I think Ethel and Joan had run out of stock by the time I got to them as I’d have grabbed those lime green buttons!
It was pretty crazy, wasn't it? I will say that it gets less overwhelming the more times you go. Hope to see you at one someday!
It was so lovely to meet you in person! I didn't take photos either. Although I wish I had now 😂. My battery was too low 🤩
I'm terrible for photos, but at least we were living in the moment! It was so lovely to meet both of you. I wish I'd had more time to chat with everyone, but it was a great day!
Ooo so many lovely fabrics and buttons, thank you for sharing! The snippets on stories from it put me off the stitch festival though, it seemed soooooo loud and echoing!
You were missed, Debs! So many vloggers were there. I really got some goodies. Happy to share!
@@LostMyThread aw thanks darling. Maybe I'll be brave and come next year !
l always went to one when it was in Manchester. They haven't had one for a good few years, which is so disappointing. Thanks for the lovely video
You never know when it might start up again. Hoping that it comes back to you soon. London is too spoiled for this kind of thing!
Great purchases!!!
For the orange knit, how about the Helen's Closet Blackwood Cardigan?
And for the quilted fabric, can you finish it so it's reversible? Maybe Hong Kong finish stitched down? Or some kind of modified flat fell seam? It will be so beautiful!
I was planning on doing bias binding on the inside of the vest. I feel like that theoretically would be okay for reversing... I'll have to think. I do love blackwood cardigan, so that is definitely a contender!
Nice choices lots of fruit.
I know, I only realized after the fact that I had so many fruity prints! My subconscious clearly had some ideas... 😉
I got some clouds too ☁️☁️☁️
I mean, how could you not?!
You’re so good !😄😄😄
Aww, thanks!
So fun to watch your videos! Always enjoy them 🙂 I've been looking for something quilted and absolutely adore the muted red pre-quilted fabric & trim you found! I looked on fabric Godmother for it, but can't find it. Can you help?
It's called Orla. It looks like the red is sold out, but they have it in blue www.fabricgodmother.co.uk/orla-reversible-quilted-cotton-jacquard-blue/
And gold www.fabricgodmother.co.uk/orla-reversible-quilted-cotton-jacquard-gold/
All of them look really beautiful to me!
I've been looking forward to hearing how it went, and it's great to see the fabrics you got! And since, unlike me, you're great at sewing things up promptly after purchase, I'm anticipating getting to see your finished makes fairly soon. 🤗
It's funny, I thought from seeing it in person previously that the Fabric Godmother strawberry print fabric was a very pale green rather than cream background, but I must be misremembering as you're the second person today who's said it's cream (Gina Seams also picked it up at the festival). Either way, it's lovely, and will make such a great Anthea blouse.
Thanks, Chloe! We will see, I have too many plans at the moment. I'm not quite sure where to start! And yes, the strawberry fabric is definitely on a cream background. I probably would have quite liked it on a pale green... Maybe that's what they need to do with their next version of it?
Oh wow, that peach fabric is so pretty!
OMG the buttons!
Thank you! I honestly found so many goodies. I couldn't leave them behind!
Love the animal print …
Isn't it so fun? I've never seen anything like it. I'm hoping I can get lots of garments out of that fabric!
Strawberry shirt dress or wrap dress for spring and summer
Unfortunately, it's a little sheer and would need lining for a dress. I also know myself and think that I'd be even less likely to wear a white dress than a white blouse. I'll start with that and if I really like it, maybe I'll venture into the white dress territory.
Hi Theresa I was there Saturday as well and it was my first time going. I felt so overwhelmed with how busy it was, I didn’t buy any fabric at all. 😢
Now I’m having regrets but realising that some of the stalls I was interested in don’t have much of an internet presence…
Are the knitting & stitching show and the stitch festival similar?
They are very similar. I would say that the more you go, the less overwhelming it gets. I would recommend going on a weekday or even just later in the day of the weekends, and it's a lot less crowded. The knitting and stitching show has more yarn, which might make it easier if you don't want yarn. There are plenty of sewing related stalls, but not quite as many. I usually take a break about halfway through and find somewhere for a quiet cup of tea. Then I go back around to the stalls again, to actually buy the fabrics. I hope you go again and can find a way to make it less overwhelming!
Orange reversible cardiagan
Both sides are pretty cool, right?
I was there on the Saturday as well, wish I had bumped into you. We left a little early though to head over to Sew Me Sunshine and join the sew yellow for endo party ❤
Love your fabric choices, that Fabric Godmother fabric is so lush, looking forward to seeing what you make 🎉
Thank you so much! It was so busy on Saturday, there were tons of people that I know were there, who I never even saw. It would have been lovely to say hi. Maybe at another show!
Oh my word! I’m going to drive over to Chicago to get your mom’s shirt when you send it 😂 j/k!! How fun! Right up my alley. I enjoyed hearing about your experience and seeing what you picked up! Thanks for sharing!
I'm excuse me, are you saying I need to tell my Mom to watch her back???? 🤨😂🤣🤣 The colors on the peach fabric are honestly just amazing. I wish I had enough to go around and share with everyone!
@@LostMyThread She’s safe but only because of Chicago traffic 🤣🤣!
