I was originally diagnosed with ADD, Attention Deficit Disorder, when they renamed it to ADHD, Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder, I was confused because I wasn't hyperactive. Once again scientists and doctors making things harder for no reason.

I'm a little bit better reading than writing. I might be a little slow reading. Sometimes I read a little faster if I have something under the words like a ruler or something or follow with my finger. I tested that out and I did a lot better. And I sound some words out or if I never seen a word. But if I'm reading that kind of know what that word is pretty quickly, just what the subject is.. then hopefully it just sinks in and I start remembering what that word is or how it's spelled. But now spelling might be a little difficult. But that's to the same thing. If you spell it enough times you should get a little used to it. Sometimes when I see a number might say it backwards or look at it backwards before I write it down. I always double check , like I see the number but when I start putting it on paper or text etc. Sometimes I might have them arranged differently. Not all the time but it happens. Sometimes I say the number a few times before I go to my table or something at work and keep thinking about it till I write it down. I think I'm okay with names and no faces . Like one person at a time lol. Don't put me in a group. I probably won't remember all five people. Maybe two if it's a common name. But for some reason I can remember what movie came out 1992 or something LOL or some minor things if I'm being trained on something but then forget something easy but that's probably a different issue LOL. So I don't know if I'm dyslexic because I'm not a fast reader and a poor speller. I could do pretty good but I use Google for certain words that I don't at use or never used

I have motor dyspraxia and ASD. I actually got marked down on an annual performance review at work, due to my poor penmanship. I also have weak hands.

Would be extremely helpful to emphasise that discalculia is a spectrum. Some people have more challenges than the others. And no, Im absolutely not subscribing to you.

Someone tells me why I’m having extreme difficulty in writing and expressing my thoughts 😭 I’m literally having arrhythmias because of the stress I go through when having to right a paper. I tested for dyslexia and I don’t have it. I also never had problems writing or reading when I was a child. I’m literally struggling through college and I have no excuses for the professors. I’m 22 and English is my second language.

My sister also have difficulty to understand words or read it I am always thought why he is not able to understand it until I know about this he is 19 and struggling in 10th how can I help her someone tell me please

“There are therapies” is like all she said about “what to do”. Keyboard, printer, speech to text… that’s how you actually help ppl w/ dysgraphia write (I’m an adults w/ dysgraphia and I’m writing just fine on my phone rn)

I didn't know that don't remember name is since off dislexia I do that all the time it's so much easier for my remember face then names 😅 I was awerd that I have dislexia but I don't know that dislexia effect other parts other than writing and reading.

not knowing their left and right. it took me till i was 13 and that only because i finally learned to write and my wright hand was my right hand. i would check with writing movement.

I'm so sorry that so many deal with these issues but I'm so glad it has come to the attention of those who want to help find a way for people to learn! I am definitely going to be researching and finding out ways around this! And once I find those ways, I can help my children as well as myself. This is wonderful!

When I was in first grade i was tested and i was diagnose with a learning disability but they didn't say i was dyslexic but then when I got to college my instructor asked me if I was dyslexic because she was she notice I was struggling with reading and writing and spelling and after that I was starting to do some research about dyslexia because I did not know what dyslexia was during that time so after doing a lot of research it's starting to make sense that I have dyslexia

10 out of 5 for myself. I'm 28 and have always thought I was dyslexic. I'm gonna look into this more. Thank you

How do I deal with being confined in a room and being beat regularly for a decade because I have dysgraphia?

As some one who had a 99% score in math logic and a 70% score in numerical ability this hits home. In all my science classes, math classes etc I always got points for my formulas but failed the final answer because I was constantly transforming the numbers. I have also suffered with the directional left right thing. Wherever I am supposed to turn or go I generally pick the wrong one. My way of compensating is to use physical landmarks. But very hard to do when you’re traipsing about a modern office building 😂

Im 54 and found out i have dyscalculia last year. It was actually a relief knowing i wasnt just stupid lol

Forgot to mention it is to do with "the way the brain is wired", that dyscalculia is a concrete problem. This is all wrong, dyscalculics just cant do it, so they don't need strategies, its game over, end of story.

My natural handwriting is awful but if i slow it right down, its pretty neat and legible. During exams I'd have one paragraph done and everyone else would be on page two of their answer. I managed to get enough down for a "D' or an "E" grade. I always felt like my folks were very disappointed in me. Especially since my older brother was an A student. So in my 50s I found out I have ADHD. He's wealthy now, probably a millionaire on paper. I work with Autism and young adults with learning difficulties. I won't get rich but I can relate with them and they like me. But it doesn't pay well at all. I hate ADHD but at least i understand a bit better.

I'm sixty, I teach, and I only recently figured out that I have dyslexia. Like everyone, I thought reversing letters (which I don't do) was the big sign; however, everything else you described fits me. I write my lessons and agenda on the whiteboard, and I do all of the writing before the students come in so that I can correct my (always) spelling errors. I don't reverse letters; I drop them. I can't remember where to double letters, and I leave out parts of speech or, often entire words. I sometimes use the wrong word - like Stream of Conscience or is it Stream of Consciousness? I've always been embarrassed by it. I write in all caps. I cover up my spelling errors by using synonyms for words I can't spell off the top of my head. Sometimes I deliberately make my writing illegible in hopes no one will notice my errors. I constantly rely on spell check. At the museum, I'm always the last guy to finish reading the plaque; sometimes I just skip ahead so I can finish with everyone else (but then I miss things). I read for pleasure and my comprehension is fine so I had no idea; I just read slowly. I've read Don Quixote, Le Misérables, Moby Dick, Atlas Shrugged, The Sound and the Fury, the Bible, and on and on; I think that's why I never suspected dyslexia. I will add: my childhood was a living hell because in addition to dyslexia, I now know that I have dyscalculia, and ADHD and none were ever diagnosed until recently. God damn it, I wish someone would have helped me.

I didn't know this was even a thing until my late 20s, I still can't do cash handling because I read the numbers out loud and my brain just decides randomly to switch up the change with the dollar amount, when I used to have a bank at work it took me entirely too long to get my numbers right and god only knows how many people made a profit off me giving the wrong change in their favor
