Totality Soundtrack Album - 2024 revised + remastered edition - Electronic Score by Raymond Castile

Since everyone is excited about the Great American Eclipse on April 8, 2024, I decided to re-introduce the score I composed and recorded for a 2018 documentary called TOTALITY. The film by John Campbell explored the science and the human experience of the 2017 total solar eclipse. I uploaded the music to CZcams at the time, but this is a newly prepared online album that I think is a tighter, br...

Unboxing Arrow Video's monumental "Inside the Mind of Coffin Joe" Blu-ray set. I have some material included in this set, so Arrow sent me two complimentary boxes. They did not ask me to do a review. It's just an unboxing video, and an excuse to spend more time talking about Coffin Joe, my...

In the 1990s, Sungold distributed a series of knockoff classic monster action figures aimed at the dollar store market. The set was simply called "Monster!" The same figures were distributed in Europe by the German company Simba, but were marketed under the name "Monster Vampire." These cheap but charming figures are interesting for their crude designs that mimic the 1960s Louis Marx Universal ...

I Remember looking for a Sharp Hand Joe for MONTHS on Ebay, Finally one day someone put one up for 40 pounds. i live in Texas, Leatherface Capital of the World.. so it came out to around $45 in USD.. i asked the seller to please pack it well, because i was so happy i finally found someone selling it, and for a NOT insane price "i had heard of the figure selling for $150 to $200 before" so it gets to me... the person shipped it from the UK to me in Texas... in a bubble Envelope. keep in mind to anyone watching this video, or reading my comment... these figures, these knock offs, while awesome for their detail "i mean, most knock offs are terrible, but i think this line's sculpts have an undeniable charm to them!" they are *INCREDIBLY DELICATE!* well.. of course he was completely smashed to pieces. so i got my money back. but the cool thing is someone else uploaded one without the "Scoop" hand for $20! once again... in the UK. this time however this seller actually cared about ol Sharp Hand Joe's Travel across the Pond... and MY Mental health. so now i got him on my Desk, with about 30 other Horror/Slasher Toys of all types. i was also able to get the "Killing Beast" not too long after, too. i hope one day to get the rest of this line, and hopefully a Sharp Hand Joe on the Card..
I've had experiences like that. It's bizarre! I hope you find the rest of them.
This track has all the hallmarks of a Vangelis piece. Lovely.
Thank you!

4:58 It look's like he's just SCREAMING "HELP! LET ME OUT!! IVE BEEN STUFFED IN THIS BOX, SUFFOCATING FOR 50 YEARS!! SOMEBODY HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP!" hahahaha
Mr Castile, do you know where i can find high resolution scans of the old Topstone Mask drawings/catalog pictures? i wanted to try my hand at Re-Drawing some of these, but i can't seem to find them on Google.
I used to have scans online, but I took them down years ago.
What I would like to see are toys capable of being collected and conserved, but also durable enough for daily play. I'm absolutely all for preserving fragile and rare toys. I'd just like to see some knockabout toys that kids, including those of us who are eternally kids, could play with to their hearts' content and not worry about.
There are some toys like that, but they are made for very young children and do not appeal to action figure collectors. I think Jurassic Park/World toys are the closest thing to the toys we remember from the 70s-90s. They are nice figures and vehicles, fairly screen accurate, but they are marketed toward children and seem built for play.
The Monsters Scenes figures had a female character named "The Victim."
I know about that model kit. I doubt it influenced the doll, but who knows.
Larry Vincent's spot was eventually filled by Elvira. There was a character in the movie, Fright Night based upon Peter Cushing and Vincent Price called Peter Vincent, a TV horror host. The role was meant for Price, but went to Roddy McDowell. There is no indication that the character from the movie, Fright Night was inspired by Larry Vincent, the horror host of TV's Fright Night.
You're a VERY Lucky Man, Raymond. i would ADORE to own just ONE Shock Monster Mask "Preferably the newer, thicker pull from the original mold" but you've got SO, SO SO MANY AMAZING ONES!
Thank you! There was a VXX-FX Shock on eBay recently.

Excellent video- most of my monster toy/ memorabilia collecting is from my childhood era in the ‘60sbut I have begun buying these quirky yet lovable Imperial monsters…thanks for the info- one question: were King Kong and Godzilla also sold in the countertop boxes with the paper hang tag like Frankenstein, Dracula, mummy and Wolfman? I have yet to see Kong or Godzilla with a tag that matches the others… Is the Gallery of monster toys website yours? It is Great!
Kong and Godzilla were definitely sold in counter display boxes with tags. In fact, I think one of the Godzillas I show in the video has a tag. But I think you want to know if they had the same style tag as the Universal Monsters. No, each of the giant monsters had their own unique tag.
Thanks for the info- and if the Gallery of Monster toys is yours it is great- as kid in Webster Groves Mo I had the AJ Renzi monster car- had not seen a pic in a long time-
I miss my Green Goblin and Iron man Megos. 😢

The vacuform plaques would be more expensive and rare than the Marx robot. But, this is certainly up there with the best of them.
I think this robot is the symbol of monster toy collecting. It's not my favorite toy...that would be the AHI Creature. But it's the most iconic monster toy ever made. There are a lot of toys that are rarer and more expensive, including the plaques. But the plaques are much more esoteric and obscure. A mint, complete, sealed MPC Haunted Hulk would be rarer and more expensive, but also more niche. Heck, my favorite toy, a carded AHI Creature, is 10 times rarer and significantly more expensive than a boxed Marx Frank...but again...it's not as iconic.
The Frankenstein head speaker is up there in rarity. I just don’t care for that personally. The box art on this robot is epic imo. I never had this as a kid, even though I was 7 years old by 1963. I recently acquired 3 of the plaques. Frankenstein, Wolfman & the Mummy. Can’t remember if I had any as a kid, but if I had to guess, I would say no. If I had to say what I feel are the most iconic monster toys from the 60’s, I’m going with the Aurora monster models. I didn’t know any kid that didn’t have at least one of them, and usually the entire line of monsters. Anyway, nice video! I think I may have to seriously consider tracking one of these down, it’s just that cool!
When you said "The Clock is ticking to get this story down" it really hit home for me.. my Mom and Dad had ALL SORTS of Stories they'd tell me about their life when they was younger... i waited far too long to actually interview them and get the stories down on video so i could re-hear them after they were gone.. well... my dad's been gone for 11 years, My mom 3, going on 4... and i wish beyond wishing i would have had the foresight to do that.
There is a book about the heyday of the Hong Kong toy manufacturing scene, but it is written from a Chinese perspective. It's an interesting read, but I think there is still room for a similar book written from the perspective of U.S. toy manufacturers. I know what you're saying about interviewing your parents. I have a video interview with my mother, who died in 2000. I haven't interviewed my father.
Steamer trunk.
HOW would i find and buy a new pull from an old mold? i see none on Ebay... is there another place i need to look?

Awesome season finale. I remember seeing all of these as a kid and wanting them, but I never had any of them. I am starting to buy most of them now because of your show. Also, same thing with me, I turned 10 and then everyone stopped buying toys for me even though I still wanted them. Thank you for all that you do. Take care.
