Copper wire braid (solder wick) works exceptionally well for this!
nice, will try that
Doesn't the paint give of fumes when you try to solder?
Its quite minimal with a good iron. But yeah a slow iron you would def want some air flow.
I really don't understand something from the video because English not my main language but by reading some comments i want to ask something i have hp 800g2 and i know that i can't get anypower supply because the adapter thing so i don't want to waste my money on something that is not going to work so i have a question i just need a power supply for the graphics card so can i get a one and just use it for the graphics card and the case with board and the hard drives and ssd use the other one is that going to be easy like get a Power supply then add a caple to the graphics card then it will work or i need to something specific like cut something and this hard things to make this work? Please answer me
wondering will 2nd power supply fan stay at full power if i short circuit the psu my hp pc also has same issue and im tryng to power a 4060ti so im thinking of doing the same thing using 2ns psu to power gpu only
The psu fans will normally do the cooling they need, But dont short circuit shit unless you trying to make smoke
@@Robonza so all i do is green wire with black wire psu turns on and plug it in to gpu nice and simple
This is exactly what I'm looking for. I made some PCB by etching but never with laser engraver. The final outcome blow my mind.
Thats awesome
LOL Mate, don't feel alone at all, A month ago I was thinking "Oh yeah, I'll flex on my buddy with a dual socket Windows xp era build, heck yeah, here's a xw-6200 board for like 20$" Little did i know there's the proprietary heatsinks and power supply, and I've now got another lovely money hole ! :D <3
haha, nice
What's the lowest mils you can go?
just manages 1.27mm pitch soic so not very fine
Well that's not bad for this kind of technique. I see at 8:16 that text is very fine, but I suppose the etching is the joker when it comes to fine tracks.
@@minime9400 I have etched 5mil no problems. Its the laser beam size that is the limit. I can get a finer focus lens for $2k
I've been doing that stupid thing for a year now as main computer (i.e. 2 power supplies) So, now, to turn it on: dedicated video card PSU as #1, then turn on the computer. Reverse order to shut it off. Burns more electricity though - 2 psu's No extra relays needed. MY PSU has a switch on it and and plug on 24 connector to turn it on automatically. Another stupid thing is cutting close cover open so that larger video card can fit into that small factor SSF with a grinder :) I think it looks nice now.
Haha, nice. They dont really use too much more power as they mostly take what they need e.g. the efficiency rating plus house keeping.
A friend made a really neat twin PSU PC a few years ago. As he wasn't running any optical drives he removed the 5.25" cage and mounted the second PSU up there at the front. He hard wired a spur from the original PSU's power socket into the second power supply, and somehow triggered the second one to wake up using a MOSFET. He also replaced the 5.25" bay covers with a perforated alloy plate so the extra psu had somewhere to blow air out of. It all looked very tidy when he finished. The reason for doing all this was because he had a couple of overclocked GTX 980 ti graphics cards SLIed in there, and during heavy gaming that pair would suck up over 500w all by themselves !!! He already had a really good 600w PSU in there, but found the system was getting unstable at the limit, so as he had a spare 450w unit sitting about doing nothing, he decided to just add that. The new PSU ran one 980 and all his RGB, while the original ran the second 980 and everything else. He ran it like that for a couple of years before the lure of newer gaming hardware became too strong. Apparently the only issue he ever had with this setup was the ridicules amount of heat it produced. In summer, after a few hours of gaming, he'd have to open his game room window to let the temperature drop to a barrable level, and in winter he could near as damn it turn the houses heating off. :D
wow, that sounds really nice. I do that kind of stuff for my equipment. This was my 15 year olds cheap computer haha.
u a kiwi brother ?
yeah mate!
Its not stupid if it works!
Haha, yeah 3 years later and my son is still using it.
Adapt it properly as a PC monitor and fire up Cyberpunk 2077 on that BEAST.
@Robonza So, your green paint you say you had specially mixed 80/20. I am wondering how something like this would work so I wouldn't have to find someon that could custom mix it for me. czcams.com/video/BmYohT5DYVM/video.html&pp=ygUaa3J5bG9uIHN0YWluZWQgZ2xhc3MgcGFpbnQ%3D
Wouldn’t doing this damage something or short circuit since I have the same issue because I bought a power supply for an rx6600 but the ps won’t work with the motherboard
I know not everybody has such laser engraver but you can do the same with a 200$ one. This is a perfect video example how you can make a PCB at home with a laser engraver. I liked the custom spray paint at the end green and clear coat.
This is not a cheap laser. I dont think a low power laser would work
@@Robonza i bought one recently with a 3w laser, will design a PCB and give it a try when I get the laser in hand
Just by watching this video for a short time, you have helped me so so so so much with my project, thank you immensely!
Awesome to hear that, thanks
How did you export a usable DXF for laser engraving? The export plot DXF is useless, bad dxf quality
Kicad does multilayer.PDF export with micron accuracy. Its pretty impressive for a free program
به نام خدا با سلام ویدیو جذاب و جالبی بود ممنون
ahhhh... so the trick is to flip them over, copper side down... I knew there had to be a way to do this and there was some trick I just hadn't thought of. Thanks!
Looks like I didnt leave a comment. Def the best on CZcams. Great Work. Cheers
thanks, I subbed you too
I see you use KiCad to design your board. I have installed and removed KiCad 3 times now on my Windows 10 computer. Cant seem to make it work. Cant get past the skematic phase because there doesn't seem to be any resistors in the library files. Any suggestions?
Worked great for me on Win10. One grid bug I had to fight but the software was pretty amazing, Maybe try an older version or find a Kicad forum
Would this work for other vacuum models, for example a Miele?
Maybe, if they have variable speed then no. You need to open one to check if it is like my circuit
what power level did you use to cut holes? can a 40W work?
I used all 60w and my machine is well tuned. 40 will struggle. You can always drill the dots. Just use phenolic pcb and it will work.
😂😂😂😂 I'll do the same
I hope my question reaches you, it is a simple question though, can this process be commercialized? i mean is it tangible to follow this process to make a service out of it?
It far too expensive. It would only be worth it if someone wanted to pay 1000 dollars for a circuit board in a few hours.
@Robonza I assume the cost will be mostly due to electricity consumption? Or is there any other hidden costs? In case only electricity we are investing in solar, it means it won't be that huge of a deal. Otherwise, you are absolutely right. No consumer would use so expensive service to print a pcb
@@saysoy1 electricity is cheap, its the labour and the machine
NIce. lol. Im glad my HP prebuilt's MB is ATX standard! I got really lucky in that regard.

Very good quality, never see a homem made pcb with all that quality. Thanks for share with us, o have a 80w co2 laser and will try this process.
A great video , thank you for the insight. I found that I used the same type of paint and did exactly what you did but I am finding 2 things. I even tried 4 passes as low power but could not get to the copper colour, still shows a white very feint film , 2 the edges of the tracks looking using my phone on zoom looks like it is bubbled. I have tried the lower the power as much as possible with the same result. I have a 100 W C02. Your engraving looks so perfect. Thank you
Thanks. I spent a lot of time perfecting the machines performance years earlier. I think thats why I get good results. I cut and engraved paper and inspected with a microscope until it was best.
You are superb !! Awesome work 👌 thanks for sharing
بسیار عالی 👌👌
This seems pretty easily scalable for double sided PCB's?
It would work on double sided but I would not say the word easy
Bonjour je suis désolé mais pour moi ce n'est pas une réalisation laser le cuivre n'a pas était vaporise par le laser il faut encore du produit chimique pour révéler les pisres
If the laser could ablate the copper there would be so much power the circuit board would disappear
No follow-up on this great project?

Hey, sir, i want to do this modification ¿Could you help me a little? ¿How do i ask for the relay at the store? And last question ¿How do i know where to the solder the cables at the relay? The red + black cable that goes on the relay and the other 2 cables that you soldered, the blue + green ¿How do i know where to solder them? Please, help me just a little. Also ¿Where did you get the little 2 cables that you used to jump the bigger PSU? The blue + green cables, please, please, please, thanks in advance.
See if you find a local makerspace or Arduino club. A lot of people there would tell you how to do it and give you the relay for free
It doesn't seem stupid to me, quite frankly, its just not "aesthethic", but 100% functional and practical.
Thanks for the comment. my son is still enjoying this PC 2 year later. so definitely practical. Saved me spending big on a whole new desktop

THANK YOU ¡YOU'RE A GENIUS! ¡BLESSINGS! P.S. just edited my first comment, definately practical. ¡THANKS!
Nice demonstration, thanks!
Very good 👍
does it also work for powering it down or just turning it on?
It relays on the old psu, which we could call "the main psu" so, whenever the main psu turns off, then the bigger one should do too.
