      What's the point of spending the kind of money a BMW costs, if they're using plastic threads like that? I just removed the MAF on a Honda Civic, and discovered that, unlike many other cars, the screws are held by metal threads. Thank you, Honda.
      Why am I here, then, you ask? Because I'm also removing the MAF on a Mazda 3, where the threads do go into plastic, and one of the screws took the threads with it when I removed it.
      I will probably try this wire method, since it seems pretty foolproof and unlikely to cause any further damage if I'm reasonably careful. And I happen to have a lot of wire on hand. Epoxy or drilling out the hole is less foolproof.

    Great trick with the wire. I used the wire on 2 stripped thread holes on my stihl ms 250 chainsaw. The wire worked great. Thank you so much for showing us this.

    Copper wire braid (solder wick) works exceptionally well for this!

    I'm assuming that was a metric crap-tonne? and that you had run out of No. 8 wire?

      zip ties work pretty well too in case you dont have wire. everybody's got one or the other

      @@ConfiscatedZyra Honestly mate thanks so much for this. I just tried the zip tie thing and its amazing. I tightend my hyper x cloud 2 headphones and for some reason the plastic hole stripped. I couldnt screw it in properly. You saved me. Tysm!!!
