Honestly I don’t think this one swings light, it’s very true to weight. What kind of ball do you hit?

@@BatFlipBP In BP and the leagues we hit 52/300s - almost always the synthetic covers. Just trying to get something as close in weighting and to account for the “heavier” end load in the catalyst compared to the backlash

Yeah it’s probably the closest thing you will find in modern bats right now. It’s probably more like a heavy half oz than the full in the Catalyst, but I don’t think it will be huge adjustment

@@RUNPMC that's your call man, if your preference is to lean heavier I'm sure 28 would be fine. I personally enjoy the 27 but everyone is different.

Everyone makes a great bat these days, it’s really more about what your swing preference is, or if there are specific attributes in a bat you are looking for.

@@BatFlipBP I play fastpitch softball and some I’m looking for something that will withstand the kind of pitching but also I am looking for something slightly more end loaded.

@@dalt2175 hmm… interesting. So it’s a 44/375 just a really crappy one. 😂 that’s a tough call. I would still recommend a linear bat that can handle a hard ball. The DeMarini juggy, mercy, Proton Smith or Hot butter or Suncoast Backlash

I usually find the Vanilla Gorilla swings a bit on the lighter side. Especially compared to the catalyst.

So it's not bat speed. It's the exit velocity of the ball that the radar picks up. In that case, it's the pocket radar smart coach. I know there is a device out there that measures bat swing speed, I just don't know the name of it. If I can figure it out I'll come back and edit this. *EDIT, okay it's just called the Swing Speed Radar. HAHA!

I have the Pocket Radar Smart Coach. I connect it to a Bluetooth speaker through my phone so I can hear the readouts nice and loud.

We actually did a review of quite a few dual stamps not too long ago. There was a Miken included in the mix. I love dual stamps, I actually think they shine hitting the hard balls and keep up very well with normal 240 bats and seem to be a much more durable option.

Last years was one of my favorites of the year overall and this one is right up there with it. I really prefer this bat in a 27 so it might actually take the cake for me in a heavier weight.

They are very different bats. I would use them in two different scenarios. Suncoast id bring out in colder weather, when the ball is harder and I want more durability. Alpha will shine in warmer months and you can really take advantage of the non linear design. As far as feel, the alpha is much more forgiving but I think the Suncoast has a more rewarding sweet spot, it’s just gonna be harder to hit it perfectly.

I usually swing a 27 .5oz endload just like the Kobe and the 27 in the balanced feels really good. If anything I might consider going up an oz, but I don't think it's necessary. It swings very smooth.

They certainly don't mess around with giving people their options!

I don't remember it having a ton of noticeable flex. I asked my buddy Aaron today as well and he said it didn't feel flexy and he always complains if he thinks a bat has flex. I actually prefer it.

Yeah, I'm always hopeful that one of these days inventory won't be an issue for Monsta. But I just try to keep in mind they are a small business compared to the big manufacturers, it's a tough business.

Haha! Turned 42 a few weeks ago. I dont know about stronger, it seems like I have to use more and more tape to hold myself together each week 😂

@@BatFlipBP I'm 32 and just got into slow pitch a few years ago after a lifetime of baseball. I wouldn't have guessed 42! Amazing swing man. I still have somewhat of a baseball swing but I make it work pretty well. But I wish I could get my body into it like you do!

@@matttaylor4344that is definitely the main difference between baseball and slowpitch. Now we have to generate all the power ourselves. Just keep at it and have fun, my swing continues to evolve. I’m always trying to watch what other people do that hit way better than me. I’m working on adding a leg kick this year.

@@BatFlipBP I really want the leg kick haha. I just step into it. I can hit an asa ball around 350 on my good days. One of my best friends bought me a KOD last year for my birthday, had a krecher before that but the endcap broke. The KOD seems to be getting me back to being confident in my swing again. I'll keep watching you and trying to implement some of the things I can tell you do to generate more power than I have. Thanks for the replies man!

I hope you love it when you get it! The music is just a generic file called Melodic Punk. I chopped it up a bit to fit my need, but it’s just a stock file. All other music I get off Epidemic Sound, I’ve got a thing for punk rock. 😂

Can’t go wrong with either, sinister is more forgiving, but the sb1 has more “boom” if you can catch the sweetspot.

unfortunately, it's been another long wait. Hopefully most will find that it will be worth it.

Ordered mine in December with expected ship date of March 15. Still waiting and my Alaskan season is almost over. Love Monsta but it's not worth ordering directly from them anymore especially for preorders. Also have a replacement coming from them that I'm still waiting on to. Better to find other place that sell them and buy whatever they have in stock unless you don't need the bat anytime soon.

The new Easton Alpha USA is awesome! Or there are tons of repaints of the ZZWAPP, any Easton USA bat from previous years with a compression threshold of 750 will be the same tech.

@BatFlipBP are the balanced protons true balanced or they kinda mid loaded?

@@lukustucker7891 ​​⁠I have never actually tried a balanced version. I always get them loaded with as much endload as they allow. But being that they are a linear design with no inner barrel tech the balanced version should be a true balance.

So exit velo can be a deceiving number. There are so many factors that go into hitting a ball for distance. Launch angle, spin rate and velo all play roles not to mention how much trampoline effect the barrel of the bat has. I was also hitting 44cor balls with the Syco and mainly 52cor balls with the Suncoast. I would honestly give the edge to the Suncoast especially when hitting a harder ball. In fact right now the backlash is on sale for $200 so it’s the same price as the Syco now too.

Yeah I sent this one out to BP Hero, can’t wait to see his opinion. I’ll take the free break-in swings from him too 😂

Yeah it’s been a rough wait. If you haven’t seen the Monsta Fan Page on Facebook, Carl the owner got on live and tried to give some updates and information. Even though it sucks, I can always appreciate the transparency and honesty from Carl.

Hmm… clincher is a tough one. I only have a couple 16” clinchers at home to have fun with. I recommend checking out the Clincher Crew channel. They have way more insight on that kind of thing. I’ll probably throw these axe bats in a box and send them over, that should get you the answers you are looking for.

The LS bats always hit the 52's surprisingly well. Especially when the compression is still a bit higher. I'll try to do the next video with all 52's for all you northern neighbors.
