As a fan of endurance sports, particularly running, I am constantly seeking ways to improve and enhance my athletic abilities. Drawing from my background in sport science, coaching, and ambulance paramedicine, as well as my personal experiences and observations, I aim to share my insights and knowledge with others who share a similar passion for endurance sports. My hope is that my thoughts and perspectives will not only inspire and motivate others, but also encourage them to reflect on their own approach to athletics and overall well-being.

My Plan For Running After Having COVID
Thanks for the video mate, always love the thought you put into your running and training. Might be tempted to try one of the distances at the You Yangs next year. Do the organisers provide that gazebo/space for you to store your gear/tub?
Thanks Marcus, I highly recommend you jump into one of the races, I’m sure you’ll love it! Yes, they have the gazebos set up for you to store your stuff. It’s very easy from that point of view
It was always going to be a big challenge to get the whole thing done, given the training you'd done. It looked surprisingly cold at some points too. Glad you got out of it what you wanted. Keep running! 😊
Thanks Mark. It was cold, plus I do tend to where more than many other runners. I find it easier to cool down than to warm up
They are so smart and willing!
So true. 5 years later I think CC is too smart 😜
Thank You so much for this❤ I am not a runner, I'm an artist. A legally blind artist and I have a rare heart condition. I started looking at running videos a few months ago because I was depressed. I was stressed because of my eyesight, and I wasn't able to do the art that I used to do all my life. For a long time, I would look at motivation videos, but for some reason nothing clicked. I needed something out of the box. That is when I came across running videos, trail running, and triathlons. I thought if I could learn a little bit about how they overcome doing hard things, I could apply the same thing to my life. It worked. I started looking at each day like getting from one checkpoint to another. I made a lot of changes but I am far from where I want to be. I am still not doing art as often as I should. To be honest, even though I love it, I never really feel like creating art or do anything for that matter. I understand that I am going through some stuff but your video gave me the perfect key. Discipline. To be able to do things even when I don't feel like it. I totally understand. I need to make a schedule and stick with it. That is how I will win my race. Thank you for this. It was very helpful❤
Keep going, and let me know how you progress
@@RunningAlive Thank you. I will 😃❤
Very Inspiring video, thank you 💝💝
Thank you
Love it. All true. If you keep relying on motivation then ultimately you will fail. You have to create the habit and be disciplined. Favorite bit..6.08…nice to hear that time with your friends is of high value. It all plays a vital role in keeping the balance. I’m sure one day we will bump into each other in the gorge 😂…keep running 🏃
I'm sure we will. Yes friends and family!!
Good video, Jason. "Work changed"? Location, role, employer? I hope all's good. Keep it up.
A different role, different hours, same employer... it's all good things, just working out new routines, thanks
Hi mate, Im Huy, a student and of course a runner from Vietnam, I planned to race in Great Ocean Ultra, could I got your email or social media to ask for some recommendations as Im totally new to the race ❤❤❤
Currently studying in Melbourne fyi
IG: jason_monty
Good weather? Sorry I gotta go with James, Perth is a thousand times better for running. Hell we had 22 ml rain from Jan to mid May this year. Melbourne had more than that just in May! We have a ton of trails and parks, with lots of easy running footpaths everywhere. Running a marathon along the beach is also feasible in Perth, which I've done a couple times. Melbourne's fine, but it really has nothing on Perth :)
I need to get out and spend some time in Perth by the sound of things
@@RunningAlive there are some trails exactly like this video all along the River too, particularly around Maylands to Guildford
@edwin5419 awesome, all the more reason to find an excuse to head over
Lol, you nearly lost me at Melbourne and good weather, as someone from the West I find that hard to believe 🤣. Looked an awesome run though, I am definitely keen to get over the Great Ocean run one day!
It gets cold, but it doesn’t rain much
This is awesome Jase! ❤
Unfinished business at this one
Good luck. Its an amazing cause im hoping to do it myself this year.
Awesome. Hope to see you there
Here we go again! Looking forward to following along mate. 💚💪🏻
Thanks man. Do you have any goals coming up yourself?
@@RunningAlive 2024 theme is consistency 🤞🏻🤞🏻 - not doing Surf Coast 50 this year, so main goal is running strong at Melb Mara. A few cheeky events along the way. 🙃
@marcusvg79 cool. You did well to get an entry before it sold out
I love being at the start of a well thought out training plan. You know it won't all be smooth sailing, but at this point the potential is there. Nothing has gone wrong so far! Best of luck with it 👍🏻
Thanks mate. Love the thought that “nothing has gone wrong so far”
Hey man could you do a video of how its looking now 4 years later? I have a skin graft an interested to see how much they change over time
Im getting skin graft on my forearm, I am very scared 😢
Suitable for wide feet with combs
Great Video just had mine done a few days ago.. glad to see your healed well Brother....
"Particularly if you're getting older." Sounds like someone I know. Got a spare meniscus there somewhere? Good video, Jason. How does 7-2 fit your roster? Not 4-4 (10-14) currently?
My usual roster tends to be a 4-5, with some variations every few weeks. So it’s usually a 9 day cycle
That's a lot of time on feet across the week. I like your 7-2 split. It'll be interesting to see how these play out. Will these line up with your nights or arvos?
Excellent start to the series. Hope it goes well. You have a lot of races in mind! I'm the same with having hills all around where I live. Can't avoid the buggers 😅
Love & hate them, all those hills probably do us good
Yeah it is one of my favorite races to do. Well done for getting it done mate. I’m gonna give it another crack this year. iAdamiam
It is a great event. I hope your training goes smoothly in the lead up this year
Good stuff.
Thank you
That editing was absolute class, We really really enjoyed that, thank you for taking the time to make it. You've earned a sub from us 🔥 PS That is one cute Doggo
I appreciate the kind words.
ahaaahaaaINCREDIBLE!! 10/10
Thank you 🤩
I too run quite a lot. 257 runs in 2023 totalling 3326km, over 76000 metres of elevation gain and some 340 hours spent. That's probably too much to be honest. I could probably run faster if I ran a bit less, but apart from all the great reasons related to physical health, I run because I'm unhappy. Running just helps give me something positive to do. Something to look forward to, and something to make me feel just a tiny bit better about myself.
Nice vid man. Nicely directed and edited!
Hi! I have a 4 months old bc and she is very good except when I start to run beside her. (I know it's to early to go for proper runs, just trying to get her use to it) but she is herding as soon as I start to run...and only when I run. Do you have any advice for this kind of problem?😢
The main thing I did was ensure she heeled properly when walking first. Then when running if she tried anything like running off or herding then I would come to a complete stop. Make her wait once back in position. Then run again. But I didn’t have to do that much with CC. Only a few times over the first few runs.
Go out too hard but not too hard or you will crash for the rest of the race
That often elusive sweet spot
Just diagnosed with stage 1A…had it removed …wide excision….
I just randomly came across this video & must say, I feel every single thing you went through over the 100km. It was my first SCC this year & I went in targeting sub 12 hours. The course hammered me way more than I thought & I got in just after 14 hours. Slightly disappointed at first but the satisfaction of finishing was enough & will keep me motivated for the next challenge, nice job mate!
Congratulations on your first SCC! The race knocked more people down this year than usual. Thanks for the kind words
Well done Jason. I love watching your videos. What race is next?
Thanks Patto. Keep the Podcast going, I absolutely love it. As for next race, maybe the Eltham 10km in November but for something big that will be in the New Year, just not sure what yet. Coburg 24 is appealing again
Mine is stage 2 .Not had surgery yet .will be scheduled asap.
Good luck, I hope your surgery goes perfectly. There definitely are good outcomes, I've had no further problems since mine
Awesome. Thanks for the video!
You bet, thank you!
Awesome Jase. That’s a bit bloody inspiring. See you out there.
Amazing effort JM. Don’t stop doing it! You’re super-human.
I appreciate that! No plans to stop (even if I had moments it crossed my mind) ;)
the love and hate relationship of running! i feel ya bro! but we do it cos we are the special crazy type, and we still have smiles and stories to share haha! Well done man, I still struggle to fathom 100km (15 hours or more, or less) you sir are a bloody legend!
Thanks mate.. that love/hate relationship makes the great moments even better!
Well done, running that kind of distance would never be easy. What's with the crawl under the bridge section all about just after 50K, bugger that lol!
I love the point, about 10.40 in where you say you go from shit to very shit but moments of 'less shit'... thanks for not gilding the lily!
It was exactly how I feeling 😁
Great resilience mate well done 👏 those under bridge routes holding on to the wall looks sketchy 😅
Thank you… it’s sketchy when you’ve got over 80km in your legs. Probably a lot easier fresh
Fair play mate. You showed how to keep going through tough times. Well done! 👍🏻🏃♂️
Thanks Mark
I'm 18 y men 170 height and 54 kg i want to erun 20km everyday , my goal is military school. Can you me some advice and what equipment should i take?
Without knowing your running background my very general advice would be to very gradually build up to the distances over time
When I read Coburg 24h , I expected a run in the 1000 year old city and not in this new building area. But despite that disappointment 😉, a great video with great insights. This running on the track reminds me of the Elbtunnel -Marathon. You are running in the tubes and see the same people over and over again.
What about today? Are they still your race gels? Did they have competition? ..i want to go with them in nycm
Tnx a lot 🙂
My first carbon plated shoes and I totally agree that they feel better the faster you go, not good at slow speeds, I had to go sockless to be able to get these on, but plenty of room length wise, in fact I found the same as you that these need to be laced right up to avoid slippage, then the laces are not really long enough for a triple knot, which I do for races. Very pleased with these and can't wait to try them out at my local Park Run, just hope as a 67 year old I can keep up with the shoes 😅🤣
Liar!!!! Running 20km without sweat 😂😂😂
Haha, I was definitely sweating
Love your vision. Are you an online coach ?
Thank you 😊. I coach & assist a small number of runners.
Great to see and looking forward to more videos mate. I’ll be at the back end of the 50 so you should pass me at some point. ✌🏻🤙🏻
I hope your prep is going well. Will be good to see you out there
