Registrace 10. 09. 2013
I'm a professor of musicology and music education who at some point revived a latent interest in playing various period (and contemporary) plucked string instruments that had been dormant for more than 25 years. So, slowly but surely, I hope to upload more videos that span music and instruments from the last millennium.
Every now and then I may also upload videos from other areas of activity and interest.

Wonderful, thanks.
Thank you very much!
Is that a Tanpura (indian) in the background?
Well, it is a digital shruti box (surpeti), so you can say it's an Indian sort of drone.
@@petterdyndahl it sounded familiar 😁
@@dilipaweeratunga Hope you liked it :-)
@@petterdyndahl sure did ♥️♥️

Any relation to Hans Werner Henze?
Not as far as I know. Not many musical similarities either...
C'est impressionnant le son de l'instrument! La pièce que vous jouez est très belle aussi. Merci pour ce beau moment.

Is there a notation for this melody for lute medieval?
@@leandromarques4748 Not to my knowledge, I'm afraid. I've just made my own arrangement. You'll find the melody (and lyrics) in standard notation anywhere searching the net.
I understood very well@@petterdyndahl
Delightful! The scene, the lighting, the instrument, and the deft playing style with ornaments and intonation flowing.
Thank you very much!
A sparkling gem of a piece and performance!

This is so deep and sad... u.u
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Que maravilla gracias
¡Muchas gracias!
Sounds wonderful on that instrument, love it! 🙌🏼
Thank you, my friend! And thank you so much for the inspiring El Maestro videos. Hope to learn from them for future interpretations.
I learned this piece of music when a was a kid, 1000 years ago!, and I like it a lot. It's sweet and remember me many things and periods of my life. Do you know the Cesare Negri's nickname? The Trombone. I'd like to know... why? M.o Petter thanks for your performance. I wish you and your family a merry Christmas!
Thanks, may you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! (I guess he was nicknamed 'Il Trombone' because he was a somewhat self-conscious person, who 'liked to blow his own horn' as told by the sources...
@@petterdyndahl yes, I agree! 😅 He was a very important Maestro di danze, really a VIP
Beautiful 👏👏👏
Thank you very much!
Where does the drone sound come from?
I am using a digital version of an Indian shruti box or surpeti, a kind of bellow-driven harmonium, for the drone.
Makes me misty eyed everytime. Perfect balance.
Thank you!
Très bien !👍
Merci beaucoup!
Damned , I felt very very asleep dunring this concert. What the F...k , why don't you listen to Mikael Jackson who is MUCH MORE MODERN ?
😅Hope the sleep did you some good after all😴
What are you doing here? You don't appreciate early music, so please disregard Hildegard.
what?? 😭
this is wonderful
Thank you!
That’s a nice Guitar! The peghead reminds me of a Stauffer. Thanks! 🙂😎
Thank you! Yes, Stauffer indeed.
Quillin' and chillin'
Con le note "fischiate" e arpeggiate il quartetto sembra un altro strumento. Poi viola e cello avanzano sulla scena e iniziano un civile discorso. I like it a lot. Unfortunately too short. TY for sharing! 👍🏻
Grazie mille! The reason it is so short is that it was commissioned as a 'micro quartet'. I composed two miniature string quartets, but unfortunately I have no recording of the other one.
@@petterdyndahl unfortunately for all of us, dear Petter 😢
This creates a true mediaeval atmosphere..⚔️
