This is the best solo for just bringing that tear so beautifully done Jhon is the master at emotional solos

He's so stunned because it's not metal; it's actually prog. Virtuosity does not take a back seat to theme, melody, rythm, lyrics, vocals or anything.

Its a stand alone MASTERPIECE and way ahead of its time as far as the ideas, lyrics, social and political statements. I wore that cassette OUT in 1988. The other thing that I don't hear people say is, on side B, listen to how much louder and pronounced the BASS is. No metal/Hard rock band was doing that in those days...that gave it a groove that just added to an already superb sound.....it truly is a beautiful work of ear-ART.

Alex always cites Jeff Beck as one of his main influences, and it really shows in this song. The solo (6:05) could easily be mistaken for a lost Beck tape. Alex is #1

Alex is absolutely underrated. All three of these artists are geniuses. My favorite band forever and always. Since Neil's death, I can't listen to them without tears. Not just for the sadness of no new music to come from the best of the best, but for the joy that their music brought to my life for decades.

I just got a Marshall JCM 900 4100 model head and a 1960A cab with it from a friend for a great price !!!. So far I am liking the B channel the most, but I have yet to try out my Behringer V-Amp II in the effects loop to see how that sounds. ok Out Loud Studios, great reaction, get this- the album version on the classic Rush prog rock masterpiece, "A Farewell To Kings," the album version was recorded in 1 take! the engineer said it was the most amazing thing he ever saw- they played it together and they nailed this complex piece in 1 take!!! Rush at the early height of their powers, true one of a kind legendary trailblazers...and yes!! Alex Lifeson is criminally under rated...he is in his own league, truly..

I was 18, when I was at this exact concert in 1981 in Montreal, Canada. I live in Neil's hometown, and saw them many, many times; including at my school, when John Rutsey was the drummer.

This is really old, but yeah Alex is incredibly underrated. Neal and Geddy are held up as virtuosos, but Alex seldom gets the acclaim he deserves.

First Preist concert I ever saw. I love how they opened with this song, and Rob was on top of the stage and got lowered down with a crane . It was awesome awesome

They were at the very top as a live show. All though they got better thru the years they also got loser and you could see they had a lot more fun. My guess is if you play song thousands of times over and you can still find ways to be creative with that song by having fun with this song and not taking away any notes from it and replacing it anyway you know you painted the perfect picture of what you wanted to, do is an artist

Every time I see a Xanadu reaction, I watch it. This is one of the best live performances of all time, in my opinion. Rush is amazing and I'm glad that people are finally discovering them. They were so ahead of their time.

It's true that they are not Band mai. They are better. You can listen to them all day and still want to return to their music again and again. Band MAi can't stand a complete song. TW will last forever.

Yes, Lifeson is consistantly underappreciated. But he's a LEETLE overshadowed by a man who can sing, play bass, play keyboards, and mess with the pedals at the exact same time, and Neil Peart. :D

Their lyrics were so profound to me... "Livng in their pools, they soon forget about the sea...."

I remember waiting for this album to come out... running down to the record store in Brooklyn to buy it... and wow.... it was not a disappointment... RUSH is amazing

Alex is so underrated. He is as good as any guitarist in history. Just my opinion.

Alex Lifeson’s sense of humour really shines trough in his phrasing. Check out the trailer park boys with Alex Lifeson cameo. Dinner with Rush is another example of their humour and is on you tube. Their respective personalities shine through.

Alex Lifeson is a whole lot underrated as far as I'm concerned.

Alex is underrated by everyone except guitar players. Vodka cranberry? As a bass player, I can't fret 6 strings let alone 12! We can play our music live because we can play our music. That double neck Rick has to weight 30 lbs! That Gibson ain't light neither. Drink more vodka...

The sound that this three piece band makes!! Amazing!!

Back in the days when the band had to hire guys to tend to the guitar cords so the musicians wouldn't trip on them.

Alex was definitely a top-10 guitarist. He was every bit as talented, maybe more than Jimi Hendrix. All three of them were tops in their field. A rarity.

I hear a clicking sound. I’ve played one and never understood the hate for the 900. Maybe from a spec standpoint it loses ppl with clipping diodes but the sound should be what matters in the end. Great playing man.
