Public speaking anxiety :)
I am realizing now that I am only able to be loving and compassionate toward others to the extent that I am loving and compassionate towards myself. All my life I have been so brutal toward myself and held myself to such impossible standards, it is no wonder that I find myself struggling to love and connect with others. We have to prioritize loving ourselves first, it is not selfish, we cannot pour from empty cups. We all inherently know that we cannot love others if we do not love and accept ourselves, but I have found that this is a lifelong journey. I am honest with you to the extent that I am honest with myself, I am kind to you to the capacity which I am able to show kindness to myself.
cannot thank you enough for sharing this
Hello, my deep deep need to belong opened me up to a vulnerability that made me break out in sobs. It's very hard for me to cry, but I had to stop. I will bring this into my trauma informed somatic experiencing therapy. I thank you from the bottom if my heart.❤
"LOVE ME"
Ozley's tiktok brought me here!
Thank you very much!!!
OK shame is actually a guilt condemnation from Satan ur creator wants u to be full of love and not feel bad about yourself once u r sorry for hurting urself he forgives and remembering more any sin and he heals any shame from any abuse by promising he will always love and hold u upfaithfully proudly u r only made to be reminded or feel bad by satanic fears of this world u rise up because u r not the bad evil in this world but u r better than that don't fall for tricks don't be offended by abusive words they only come from insecure hurting people that themselves need more love so fire their hurt onto u rest in ur creator be filled with his love be happy with where u r at n what u have take a different perspective from the view u were having rise up in the light n shine n feel bright u r beautiful and right there is nothing u need to worry yourself with so tune out these negative things that were intended for your harm and destruction God bless u xxxxxxxx
i struggle with shame and feeling “cringey” so very often. lately i’ve been working on really sitting with those emotions of feeling shame and embarrassment and realizing that it reminds me of my past self and the little girl i used to be (and still am, as she is still a part of me), and i think that has helped me process those feelings and love and care for myself a little more. i hope everyone seeing this has a great day, you deserve it !
Everyone is mentioning the Tiktok girl, for me, i'm very thankful to that one Redditor who shares about Dr. Kristin Neff
My notes: 8:43 self absorption, self doubt, self criticism are key features of shame
What if you are addicted to shame and self-sabotaging?
Thank you for sharing your life work You conquered yourself and are now able to help other do the same
Thank you
Thank you to CZcams for providing this, and TED Talks. I appreciate know the all the in depth content without the national security risk.
That was a mind blowing exercise! Thank you, Doctor!
My concentration that is.
The ads totally break my conversation unfortunately 😔

just finished an almost 1 hr vid, thank u for this!! <3
I have benefited from Sylvin Tomkins description of shame affect as a biological "reflects".
I am watching this while working and I am just listening and it almost made me cry multiple times.
Wow this is incredible. Shame is so common, but we are so unconcious to that fact!
Well, seems God IS answering prayers through TikTok after all🙌 Thanks Christopher A LOT❤❤❤
Thank you for this. I’m going to do my loving kindness meditation right after ❤
Thank you, good man
With shame I feel a lot of self hatred and like I’m disgusting
I cried like a baby doing the exercise. Thank you very much Dr Christopher. I have tremendous respect and admiration for your work.
I didn’t expect to be crying by the end of the video, but here I am…
Thank you for that. It was intensely meaningful for me. Helpful, thank you.
Several comments mention ads disrupting the video. It happened to me, too. It's very jarring - especially when the ad is louder in volume than the video. An ad startled me just a few minutes in. Another ad jarred me after 9 minutes. Ads in the midst of meditation/ other calming content disrupt the flow of positive energy. CZcams can do better with ad placement. 🙏
What are these for books?
Gracias Christopher ❤
this video really feels life changing, thank you so much for this
I didn’t come here from tiktok, youtube recommended the video. But I bet all of the traffic from people coming here from TT caused the youtube algorithm to push this video into my feed. Isn’t that beautiful? One person sharing a resource on one platform has had such a big ripple effect. a rare positive result from algorithms.
Thank You
Thank you for your words! I was struggling these days and you helped me a lot.
Thank you Dr. Germer.
I feel like you are saying something that is important to me - however I cannot understand semiotics behind your terms... Stuff like self-compassion - what does this mean, what should this feel like? I always had shame about my body growing up, and I got stuck in this cycle of getting over it and then significant other starts either shaming and comparing me or engaging in infidelity often with people from my circle of friends. By the time I learn about my shortcomings I am already replaced. So this time (#8) I just feel outright fear when I like someone and I have never been able to engage into casual sexual encounter and even make new friends. I really feel like I should get out of my shell, but I feel a lot of despair in this point and I realized that people are more energetic than rational and that if I don't get comfortable and happy soon at some point everyone will abandon me. Are there exercises - what should this feeling look like and how to be ok with infidelity and inadequacy?
I love this, and also love you! Wow, what a powerful turn around from shame to remembrance that we all want to be safe and loved. Thank you!!
Love it, just wish it was louder!
Thank you.
Thank you! I love you for making this video and for your humanity 🙏🏼
