Sailing San Diego Beneteau Oceanis 35 - Hodor Ship Sighting & Fish!!!!
Appreciate you showing literally everything! So many tutorials just skip over steps which make it very hard to follow, but you really went through it all. Very good video, thank you!
Thank you for this video. I am still new to this boating thing.
ciao ho lo stesso motore perche esistono due tappi per l olio motore
Gorgeous Koda! Great share thanks!
Would have been good to see the engine running after all your hard work.
Suction is strong, open oil caps so that there would not be undue suction on the gaskets. Before removing the filter, Punch a small hole on the used oil filter to drain it to the oil pan, suction area and avoid drips when unscrewing the filter.
I think I met you guys in Catalina. So cool to run across your channel. Safe travels. Looking forward to more videos. -Steve and my golden retriever - Mango.
Looks like a hoot!
Oh yeah, it was for sure...
Hope you enjoy the video!
The whale just felt the urge to pop up and say hello!
Yep, they are everywhere in Mexico.
Thanks for your video. It was most useful. I have the identical Beneteau 35 set up. I found after I changed the smaller upper filter that it had a slight seep of fuel. On review I found there was a fine O ring up in the housing. I removed and replaced it with a new one (noting it had a bit of a tendency to slip off) and the problem was solved. I’m not sure if all the small filters have this O ring but other Yanmar 3my30 owners might want to be aware of it and to make sure it is correctly seated as the screw is tightened
30lb tuna.
Can you anchor ⚓️ there for free
You can but it's quite tight at Two Harbors.
On the trip to Catalina, what buoy did you take a right at outside of Point Loma to then head north to the island? SD-4 or perhaps as far as SD-1? I'm sorry that I did not understand what you said in your video.
I immediately thought that you were not professional enough because above all you are very nice and spontaneous. But after so many videos I’ve seen to figure out how to make my first service to my Yanmar I must recognize that your tutorial is the best, the most dictable and the most accurate. thank you very much.... nice, spontaneous and very professional
Nice Bluefin Tuna gang, good job on the hand line to boat the fish. The gaff will be ready next time I'm sure. 1 of my goals in 2023 is to catch a Bluefin Tuna from my Catalina 25 sailboat ⛵ This video will be my inspiration to make that happen, so big thanks for this 🤙🏽
I am new into the sail boat , what is the brand and years of ur boat for 35 foot look vey nice , nice video.
I typically change the primary (fuel water separator) filter first then the small yanmar. Mine is elevated above the secondary unlike yours. Is there a proper order to change these filters?
Great works guys.
Nice video, but you need to work on your Termanology!😂
Thanks Steve... For sure!
Any reason you are selling? You upgrading boats or getting out of sailing for a bit? Just curious...
Hi Paul - We're upgrading. Getting a Beneteau 45.
Cheers from Oceanside!!! Love Two Harbors, taking my boat their this month some time and this summer with my kids AGAIN!!! Nice big Tuna dude and dudette!!!
I wish we were closer to Two Harbors. We'd be there all the time.
Fantastic. The 35.1 seems to handle that length a trip with ease. Just took delivery of mine. Loving it. Can I ask you a question about your experience on the 35.1? I’m 2 weeks in, moving about the slip is the only thing which gives me some angst. Was that your experience? Actually that makes me more jittery than being caught in a blow - so far 37kts has been my record, boat felt solid as a rock.
Getting in and out of the slip was always jittery for me for quite a while. Even still to this day if the wind is blowing hard. I'm in an end slip - so there's always wind and current. One thing I do is back the boat into the slip. With double rudders, I have so much more control. One tip I learned is when she starts moving backwards - turn your body around so your facing forward vs looking over your shoulder. That allows you to easily drive it in reverse pretty much in any space. I also have a visual marker (for example I know I need to turn hard when I get to the edge of the jet ski dock). That keeps the guesswork out of it. So set up visual markers for yourself of when you need to hard turn or not. Hope this helps and congrats on the new boat! - Josh
@@WilderSailing excellent. Thanks very much Josh for the tip. Keep the vids coming, it’s great to see the other side of the Pacific Ocean.
I wish I were there with you on that journey. Well done! We are proud of the great crew!!
Great video son. Wish I was there
Yeah... You would of loved it!
Great video!
Great vid and boat. Have the same boat coming to Sydney, it’s only a few weeks away. Have been waiting 9 months. So sailing clips are getting me by. Waters of so cal look great.
You'll love her... Easy to sail.
I was taught to block the wind behind the gennaker with the mainsail, during setting and dousing the sail. This will make the gennaker easier to manage. I enjoyed your sons explanation of lift.
Thx for the comment! We're still working out the gennaker. Getting more confident each time.
Who made your asymmetric?
North Sails... It was gifted to us just recently.
@@WilderSailing I need your friends! We will have a factory code zero and will likely get either an ulman, quantum, or North Sails asymmetric down the road
@@SVEverydaysailor I would love to have a code zero. Yeah this sail came us totally unexpected as it was sitting in someone's garage who was no longer sailing. Practically a brand new sail in a super dirty bag.
@@WilderSailing what a steal! Will see you out on the water there
This looks amazing. It would have been even better if you had a drone shot of those whales...
I need to invest in a drone.
nice video. How does the oceanis 35 handle the blue waters? is it stable in 15-20 knots?
We're mainly just sailing off the coast here in Southern California. The most wind we've had her in is probably 18 knots with full sails which was too much without being reefed. I personally think the boat really comes alive in the 12-15 knot range. Then it's reef time.
@@WilderSailing thanks for the prompt response. I am planning on taking the same boat to Catalina from Newport, OC. Do you think I should go bigger boat? The winds get up to 20 knots at times especially on the way back in the afternoon…
@@zho0616 I think your fine on the 35. We did Catalina on the boat last August and it was great. Spent 5 nights there at Two Harbors. If it gets too windy, drop the sails and motor or just reef up. You'll love it.
@@WilderSailing great advice. thanks. With two cabins, it is comfortable for 5 people for 4 days?
@@zho0616 We had a total of 2 adults, 2 kids and our Husky. It can be tight when below, but if the weather is good everyone will be on deck which is plenty of room. Just tight below.
Great views and vibes. 3:12 Услышать "Иванушки Интернешнл" на фоне не ожидал =)

Nice. Winter sailing. You guys do have the weather in SD don't you...
Yeah we do... Pretty much beautiful year round!
