Wow, fascinating to watch the railroad tie replacement. My great-great grandmother used to work laying down railroad ties. That was back in the early 1900s, so they didn't have this kind of equipment to do the hard work.

Thank you for the super close-up shots of new ties replacing the old. Beautiful long shots to let us really enjoy seeing the skill those MOV folks have in doing a great job. Best VR repair shots ever!

The most interesting thing is the UP is on the far track. Normally, they run the near rail because they're yard is the right side of the camera. This means the BNSF may have had to stop. Normally, BNSF would run the far track and the UP would "cross over" to their line. I use cross over loosely because the BNSF comes in on the near track coming in from the right. UP comes straight into the near track. The far track goes to the K&O.

The ponderous delicacy of the track-repairing equipment was simply fascinating--and the music was (as always!) perfect. The parade of MOW equipment was pretty cool too, and it's always nice to see the Rocky Mountaineer. Thanks for another great one!

This video of the repair work in Ashland was taken at around 2am. I was there from noon until 3pm that day and the work was still going on. Multiple in-town crossings were closed, creating an incredible traffic hassle!

The railroad was the best customer agent orange manufacturer ever had. The only difference was the railroad didn't spray it on their employees and then make them wear the same clothes with no shower for a month at a time

Watching the replacement of ties is a fascinating way to spend a few minutes!. The inventive machinery that does most of the work is something to behold. It is yet another tribute to human beings' creativity at is most useful.
