this game is very time consuming. So if you don't come prepared it could be deadly as you said :3 but you get used to this when playing the game and it's a looong way until this battle, so maybe start playing and see what happens? ;)

well I only used her for debuffing aoe, which can also be accomplished by Nicola - in the end her defensive abilities and regen / ultimate wasn't used as often as I hoped so she can be sooo replaced here by the "missing" unit for debuffing and such :3

mainly yes. sometimes speed, but that can be easily accomplished with other stuff. it's way more important to have lower speed on your units nowadays than too much which I find very interesting haha

that's a hard question. Richard gives sooo much potential to sword and spear comps whereas nepthi can be used in all around teams and has a specialty towards axe, staff and tome which can't be denied. it's hard. I'd go for Richard personally if you lack him.

especially Elrica. she is exploiting at least one weakness at any given time :D

@@free2PlayerCotC Elrica can instantly kills one ring if it is broken during BoA phase :P, the 7 rings have no chance of survival. I actually killed at least one ring with Elrica even before it's broken.... lmao

yes it has. and if you come until one point of the game where you have unlocked a special NPC to your game - you just need to click "collect" and it does everything for you. So you can farm your in-game currency very frequently without investing too much time.

@@free2PlayerCotC well it works now, but my account got deleted I don’t know how or what happened like a glitch or bug. So I contact customer service yesterday, and fill out this form, but in one of the blanks ask for player ID on old account, and player ID on a temporarily account, but I dont remember my player account from the old one, and on the temporary account it doesn’t show a player ID, so I just put “ user ID “ instead, so hopefully that works. They better give me my account back I spend hours and money on this game, if they don’t, I’m gonna have to file a claim on my bank account and get a refund on all my transactions. Any other recommendations you have for me?

@@free2PlayerCotC yeah it didn’t let me update and go in the game all day yesterday, until last night it finally worked, but there was a glitch or something that caused to delete my account! So I contact support and file what they needed, but in one of their question they asked for the player ID number on the old account and to create a temporary account and give them the player id from the temporary account as well , but I don’t remember my player account number from my old account so I put the User ID instead , will that work, or do you have any other recommendations?

that's mainly because I'm not into one-trick ponies. but I didn't know the value of her long time usage in jp so that's the thing most people are offensive about :/

@@caio480I posted my opinion and I just said that I disagree. The problem is not because he prefers Elrica over Alaune. That’s fair. The problem is mainly because his channel’s name (maybe I’m wrong) suggests that is overall for F2P players. So the people come here for an advice of what’s the best unit for long term investment as a non spender and that’s why “the community” got “toxic”. He said that doesn’t like the “boring” playstile of Alaune, that’s fair. If the purpose of this channel is help people for better units investment what he said is wrong because there’s people ahead with info (JP players) that knows exactly how is aging a specific unit (this case Alaune EX). Otherwise if this channel is focusing on a personal opinion or playstile obviously he can even play with Heathcote and Millard because he wants to and It’s perfectly fine.

Imagine someone who listen to u and pull only El coz she's top atm and find out later that actually Alaune is and stays there for long long time. How would you feel? and I'm totally fine with it that you had a disagreement here. A lot of people have. and that is ok. And if that leaded to people thinking more about pulling, watching more videos from other good content creators this community has and evaluating what's the bets for the player - then that's totally fine with me. I can only read about it and have not played the unit before in JP sadly, so my opinion is only regarding the present in global and not the future we will have soon. That's very exclusive to CotC to have that so people can take a look into the future if they want to spoil themselves.

The community for this game is very toxic. Anything you say against what they think, they say you are making fake news. I've been through a situation like this in a group of players from my region and any thought that differs from them, they say you're wrong. but wrong from what perspective? to them, their personal game... what matters is what they think and screw the rest. Keep making your videos and giving your opinion, whether you are new to the game or not, there are no wrong choices here, there are YOUR PERSONAL CHOICE, and you always gave yours. Don't be put off by fanatical nerds...they are always like that for the most part...

Your my personal hero right now. But nonetheless what they're saying is also not completely wrong. Especially as some kind of influencer to the game and to newer travellers arriving -- giving them DPS instead of a long time buffer which is still relevant in jp is something they can be sad about especially when they've invested a lot of rubies or even real money. Of course it's their decision. But I am kind of part of that decision. And not having the relevant information from JP makes this a hard task for me to know what's coming and what is nice to have and what is really a must pull. it's a hard topic but I've taken a few measurements into account to prevent that from happening again this way. thanks for being with me.

@@free2PlayerCotC Yes, they not wrong, i agree with that, because of their perspective, they play on the Japanese server, they will always be based on the gameplay there. But as I said, there is no right or wrong, there are personal choices, and the choices are based on the server you play on. To avoid misinterpretations, it may be worth placing next to each video title which server you are referring to in the video, for example: * NOT ENOUGH RUBIES? SKIP ALAUNE EX! | Octopath Traveler Champions of the Continent [EN] or * NOT ENOUGH RUBIES? SKIP ALAUNE EX! | Octopath Traveler Champions of the Continent [JP] or * NOT ENOUGH RUBIES? SKIP ALAUNE EX! | Octopath Traveler Champions of the Continent [SEA/KR]. Maybe this way people will understand where the video is being directed, putting an end to interpretations like "I play on the Japanese server, this doesn't apply there, or the opposite. Richard is more of a sword and polearm team buffer than a DPS. When Elrica is released, she will be the strongest single-target sword DPS in the game for a while. Her main competition will come from upcoming banners featuring Odio-O and Sazantos. Both of them do awesome AoE DPS and have additional utility, so it comes down to whether you like her as a unit. I think most players' plans are to pull for Alaune EX and hope they pull her before the 150 fragment pity, then use the fragments to pity Elrica.

@@ScarletSilver89 is elrica a4 a must? or just one copy will be sufficient

@PatrickLimJr A4 is not necessary. It's nice to have, but not worth the investment with the upcoming units after her. She does well with A1 for the extra 50 Atk, but A0 Elrica is totally fine.

@@PatrickLimJr if you aren't a spender. always always always A0. SOME units would LOVE to have U10 etc, but even then it's not a big necessary to get it.

You wrote just about everything I was thinking of while watching this. Both are exceptional units. I think the overall message should be "If you are not a spender and completely F2P with low rubies, it's okay to skip this banner in favor of saving for Sazantos and Signa".

This is so spot on. I'm not sure why they brought up Frederica and Serenoa because I would never bring them as a backpack or BP battery. If anything, it just proves that Alaune EX is better because she does the job of two units.

Thanks for previewing your JP experience with Alaune ex and Elrica. I couldn't play them. Just from SEEING what they are able to do - I build my own perspective on how I personally would play them. Although I disagree with some of your reasons for wanting to skip Alaune EX, you make a valid point about her being an empty channeling slot in a party compared to an active slot such as Ogen. @@free2PlayerCotC In the same way you said Alaune EX is just a BP Battery, Elrica is just a DPS. I can easily exchange her with another unit. And I don't need to play in JP to know that DPS is the first thing that powercreep.

that's kind of true. Special abilities bond to a unit make those units way more special than DPS units in general. I'm personally more into units who have more versatility than just doing one thing and that's about it :/

@@free2PlayerCotCwell, while she is kind of a one-trick pony, that single trick is still what makes her so valuable. I had the same view as you when these units first came out in JP, but recently I’ve realized that people didn’t value Richard for DPS, they valued him because he happens to be DPS *but* he makes *everyone else* stronger - a team of warriors and merchants can do insane damage compared to if Richard just buffs himself. The same is true for Alaune EX; the difference is she isn’t just helping warriors and merchants deal more damage, but she’s helping *anyone claiming DPS role* deal more damage with max boost and maxing the duration of skills of *anyone using buffs/debuffs* in half the turns. I do plan to go all-in on Elrica and finally use my fragments on Alaune though haha. Btw have you been getting hate comments? I’ve been scrolling through and I’ve just seen people disagreeing (respectfully I think?) but I don’t really use Discord for games but I heard about your video being removed from a server and I don’t know what’s been filtered here. She could come back again once they give her TP skills and 6* upgrade.

@@PoomerXPbut at that point is she gonna be that much better than sazantos, odio, and ringabel. Probably not. Plus sword becomes a lot less valuable later on so any tp and 6star buffs are probably gonna be too little too late.
