SMA rides Akatarawa Forest Park - Co-op
Akatarawa Forest Park is a large expanse of forest covering the hills between the Kapiti Coast and the Hutt Valley. It is the home of the famous Karapoti Classic mountain bike race. Easiest access to Co-op is via Whareroa Farm, Kapiti Coast.
Trail marking on the map at the start of the vid is a rough estimate, it is no longer on Trail Forks. The start is well hidden and has numerous twists and turns once you're in the bush.
The track is a rooty slip feast when wet with lots of pinch climbs and techy downs. Cross country jungle riding if that's your thing.

The Skidmark crew hit up an old school trail that runs along the ridge between Mt Lowry and Wainuiomata. The SMA team wanted to cross this track off our "to do list" before daylight saving ended. Craig & Darren take Steve down it for his first time. We're still getting to grips with the settings of the GoPro's and viewing angles. As always we're enjoying the rides and watching the footage afterwards.

SMA team ride K Hole (aka 98DH). First time down this track for a couple of the guys and it was nice and dry. Trailforks rates the track as Double Black Diamond, so was glad to get down it in one piece. No crashes and loads of fun... great way to test our skills and end the days ride.

SMA team rode up Silversky and the Substation tracks to Skyline and headed south. This section was the easiest of the day with the wide open spaces to cruise. Had some tech issues with a gimbal, so not much footage from one camera - unless you like looking at the back of someone's head.

SMA riders spend the afternoon riding Salvation, Grant's Track, Scout Hall, Fenceline, S Bend, Silversky, Substation, Skyline and K Hole. We had issues with gimbals, the cameras, vines, the tracks, a cow and there's plenty of action and swearing to see and hear. This is the first of three videos of our great afternoon.
