Thank you! Nope, no silicone in the grasses. The cells came from just the paints interacting with each other…whether it was density at play, or floetrol helping with reactivity, I’m not sure. But it’s really nice!

If you paint on the inside of the vase, you won’t be able to fill it with water or the paint will peel off. I bet you could put stickers over top, though!

I’m sure there’s a physical aspect to the swiping, but the paint mixture that you use matters for sure!

@@AnnaBlountArt​​⁠ yes i agree, but I think Its important to understand that it is either the swiping or e.g. A heat gun that Will provoke the cells to emerge. The mixture does matter in terms of how Easy the cells comes forward or how Big and uniform the cells get. I just wanted to elaborate on why the old mix still Works. Not saying mixture isnt of importance :)

I add a drop of silicone oil to most of the paint colors, and they are all mixed with floetrol which also helps get bubbles!

Yes a gloss varnish does wonders to a dull painting! Spray varnish is ok but I find I get better results brushing it on. A torch can be good for creating cells in certain paints or mixtures but not all of them. And you definitely don’t want to get too close to the paint or stay there very long, whoops!

I’m using acrylic paints. Most are craft paints, at least one is a house paint, and at least one is a metallic tube paint. My silicone oil is Spot On treadmill lubricant!

@@DD-yr6mi I’m glad you’re pleased! Yes certain paints will make more cell naturally than others. Did you use silicone oil or just the paints with floetrol and water?

I used craft paint with flotraol and coconut hair serum only in the swipe color. Maybe I should put it in all the colors​@@AnnaBlountArt

@@DD-yr6mi yes if you’re using an oil as a cell additive, I’d put it in all the colors EXCEPT the swipe color.

Thank you! Have you been pleased with your seahorses? If not, I would recommend trying to get your paint mixtures and swiping perfected before doing a complicated shape like this.

@@AnnaBlountArt everything was perfect until last part, when I add white on the front side it ruin my hors shape. Next time it will be perfect I’m sure

@@Tonylady1 Ah yes you have to add it very carefully. But that’s why I always clean the shape by brush-painting after it’s dry!
