Hi, I'm Chad!
I'm a passionate motorcycling enthusiast who started club racing in 2021, and have documented my entire experience as a motorcycle racer thus far. I began by getting back on track in 2020 after a 3-year hiatus, and started vlogging as I prepared to obtain a racing license and compete with the California RoadRace Association (CRA) in 2021.
In 2022, I won multiple amateur-level 600-class races aboard my 2012 Triumph Daytona 675R, and ultimately secured CRA's 2022 Amateur 600 Supersport Championship. I also raced and won multiple amateur races with the Chuckwalla Valley Motorcycle Association (CVMA) before moving up to the expert category in February 2023.
Going forward, my channel will continue to focus on my journey and progression as a motorcyclist, and on the other aspects of motorcycling which I enjoy, like sharing my opinions on gear and other bikes.
I hope you enjoy my videos, and if you do, I'd appreciate a like, and your subscription. Happy riding! :)

Is your bike still overheating?
I'm getting this bike and has tech my grom or old gsxr never had...can't wait to fully use this.
Two years later and this video just helped me out. Thanks
You're welcome!
You said the bike had 7700 miles yet you had a 12,000 mile service? Did you mean 17,700 miles? Maybe I heard you wrong?
I think I said I had put about 7,700 miles on it myself, not that it had 7,700. It was at about 12.2k when I had the 12.5k service done.
@@hiimchad Thanks for clarifying. Would you buy another one?
@@BlueRage absolutely. I've enjoyed every moment in the saddle!

Hey brother, my buddy and I found a 2017 tuono v4 factory and a 2020 tuono v4 rr at a dealer used for 10.9 and 11.9 each. Any tips on how to look at possible issues it has and is this a good buy? Thanks so much brother! Closest dealer we got is about 4 hours away, we do got barber motorsports about two away from here.
Any other details you can share? Condition, mileage, etc? As far as inspecting, I would check for leaks all around the engine, fork seals, and so on. If there is an independent shop nearby you can ask the dealer to take it there for a pre purchase inspection at your cost. If they say no, negotiate in a warranty. Assuming mileage is low and condition is great the Factory is the better deal imo, but all depends on how you're going to ride the bike. RR is more comfortable but still sporty enough for a track day, Factory would be great for days at Barber if you go routinely.
@@hiimchad ooh I infortunately did not check more other than surface level. I know currently the rr is getting a starter rectifier swap. Tires looked good, could probably use new ones in like 1k miles or so. I’ll get more details next week as I’m stopping by to check. I was planning on purchasing the RR for myself and my buddy the factory. I normally take my Z H2 SE to barber but it’s so dang thick I wanted something more lithe and lighter haha. I’ll add a comment on here next week around Tuesday as well with more info!!! EDIT: one other piece of info is the dealer that I found it off of is not an aprilia dealer, i think it was a trade in. Closest aprilia dealer to me is in knoxville TN, about four hours away, but hopefully any electrical gremlins have been found and fixed. If not, she is getting trailered there haha
Hi i have a question I hope you can answer please? I'm currently rebuilding my engine as my manual cam chain tensioner backed itself out and through all my timing out. I've decided to rebuild my engine and it's all going well so far! I have no idea what position each shim was in as I accidentally made the mistake of turning over the unit and they all fell out.... Stupid I know. As I don't know what was where, when I come to put it back together will I have to put everything back together just to check the clearances that will no doubt be out as I don't know which one went where. I don't want to have to put it all back together just to have to tear it apart again to change the shims. Didn't think of checking anything before taking it apart. It's my first time doing this as you can probably tell
Hi there! Kudos to you for taking on that job yourself. Unfortunately, if you did not keep track of where each shim was, I think the best thing you can do is exactly what you said. Throw it all back together, take measurements, then disassemble and move shims around as needed. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it's the only way you'll be able to determine what needs to go where :/
@@hiimchad thanks, it all seems relatively straight forward until it gets to the shims so hopefully it works out. Thanks for getting back to me really appreciate it videos like the ones you've made make things so much easier I learnt so much from it. The tolerances on both exhaust and I take would be the same regardless of the milage that the bike has done correct? I've got a Haynes manual on the way anyway but in the meantime I'm trying to get as much knowledge in my head as possible 😂
Hello, i got the same bike really really like the bike, i have a question about the bike, when i drive it fast (still learning) the Aprc triangle light sometimes blinks and if i slow down after some time it goes away, all my electronics are on. Do you know why that can light up and blinks?
Were you on Santiago?
Santiago and I go way back 🤝
Im about to pick up a 24' Tuono 660 Factory this week. Are there any adjustments we need to make on these for the shifting to work 100%? Thanks!
Congrats! Not sure what you mean by making it work 100% though. Does it have the QS and blipper? If so, it should work right off the showroom floor
GORGEOUS LOOKING 675 🔥🔥
Thank you! Unfortunately didn't look this good for very long. I crashed it at the end of that weekend 🥲
Thank you for the information.
You're welcome!
What wing mirror are you using, or what weights? Thank you.
The mirrors are the CRG Arrow model and the bar ends are from RhinoMoto, made specifically for CRG bar end mirrors. Hope that helps!
Does this model have a fuel gauge?
It does not.
@@hiimchad a fuel warning light ?
@@highestsprings it does have one of those.
Hello i have a question! If i turn on wheelie control and literally give it max throttle and dump the clutch it will literally hold me?
Nope, it will throw you right off the back
@@hiimchad oh! Then.. do you still need to use back break? I'm a bit confused
@@martialart3277 the wheelie control system is not perfect. It will provide assistance under normal riding conditions and works as an anti-wheelie system more than a wheelie control system. If you were to pin it and pop the clutch in first gear, the massive surge in torque would cause the front of the bike to lift abruptly and with a lot of force which the system would probably not be able to overcome. This effect is reduced in higher gears, but under no condition will AWC sustain a wheelie longer than a second or so
@@hiimchad but if your in higher gear it helps right? Because i have a big fear of flipping my motorcycle. (I have an rs660)
Can you make a three minute video explaining wheelie control
The Tuonosaurus is a Weapon 👍
It sure is 🙂
Random question. At what rpm do you set your shift light for? I use my tuono mainly for street. Did you do a video on that? Thanks for any info.
I have not made a video about it but mine is set at 11,800 rpm. According to Aprilia, the engine makes peaks power at 11k rpm in stock trim, and the limiter is around 12.5k.
I appreciate it. I had mine set at 11k but I don’t remember why.
Hello . I want a favour from you . I am an Aprilia fan and owner of Tuono V4 in Pakistan. I have tried to reach Aprilia Italy about problems with aprilia Pakistan. Aprilia Pakistan is giving bad name to Aprilia brand due to their unfair and non professional attitude. They have no proper showroom setup and do not have any after sale service centre. No parts available. They do not respond to emails and calls. It's a big problem here . Aprilia should nominate someone else for Pakistan. It will be great favour for people of Pakistan if this message reaches appropriate forum in aprilia management. Thanks and regards . Ahmad from Pakistan
Hi, by any chance do you remember where you got your tank pad? I like the look of it vs the Aprilia branded ones. Thanks!
I don't off the top of my head, but they are the transparent StompGrip pads precut for the 2011-2020 RSV4/Tuono V4. They're probably available on Cycle Gear or RevZilla 👍
@@hiimchad I was thinking more about the black rubber one in center. StompGrips I have myself already :). Thanks for replying and for teaching me so much about my bike through your videos.
Is the speed limited in cruise control. I couldn’t get mine to set over 70mph
I've set mine at and a bit over 70 many times without issue. Is cruise enabled before you try to set the speed?
Yes it was enabled. It could have been the gear I was in. Thanks for the reply man! Cheers!
@@mtbchill7080 I mean unless you were in 1st or 2nd it should have set. The button can be tricky as it's fairly flimsy. What year is your bike?
10:55 in terms of clutch less downshifts, did you fit your bike with autoblip in addition to the quickshifter?
Nope, no autoblipper. There are very few aftermarket options for this bike since they still use a mechanical/cable-actuated throttle, and from what I gathered they are not very reliable
I just bought a akrapovic slip on for my 2022 tuono v4. If i just put it in the most aggresive mode will that be enough or do i still need to change the mapping from the ECU directly. Is the stock ECU easily customizable? like how many options are there on the stock ECU?
I'm not as familiar with the 21+ Tuono, but if it's anything like this and the Akra will delete the cat, it will need an ECU flash. The modes change fueling and response slightly, but not enough to compensate for the significant reduction in back pressure from the cat vanishing. For the 2017-20 bikes, the ECU can be remapped by an Aprilia dealer with the "Race ECU" which is designed to richen up the mixture for catless exhausts, or you can look into solutions from tuners like Gabro and OpenFlash. I am pretty sure they have products available for the 21+, but am not 100% sure as I haven't looked into it myself.
Any mods to your bike ?
I sold it over a year ago but it had an FMF Megabomb header, Yoshimura RS-4 slip on, bark busters with integrated turn signals and convex mirrors (can't remember the brand), and a fender eliminator kit with LED rear turn signals.
pretty much like paddle shifters in a car, you just kick to upshift snd downshift?
Pretty much! You still need to use the clutch to put the bike in and out of gear when stopped, and it is not recommended to use quickshift or autoblip below 4k rpm, but other than that, it is very similar.
Thanks for the video. I like the concept of gp shift but I only have quickshift up. Do you still recommend the gp shift in that case?
I do! I have two Triumph Daytona 675Rs that are track bikes, both with QS up only, and both are GP shift. I find it much more natural for a sportbike, regardless of whether an autoblipper or QS are fitted.
@@hiimchad Okay thank you. I will give it a try.
Is there rules about which lanes are okay to split in and which ones aren’t? Just curious. I don’t ride or live in California.
As long as there is more than one lane in the direction you are going, there are no rules about which you can and cannot split in. That said, it is best practice to split between the two left-most lanes, assuming the road/highway is more than two lanes wide in that direction.
Jak się nauczyć wheelie 😁

I have tuono v4 factory 2018 so I am interested in this modification. I wonder how much better cooling you got in practice? do you feel better when the ventilator works?
I noticed the coolant temps with the fan on in traffic or when idling after fully warmed up dropped a few degrees, but nothing super significant.

Yo Chad.....great vid bud...random question but what are those bar end mirrors plz I need some for my 2017 1100 as the ones fitted are garbage...thanks in advance.
Thank you! They are the CRG Arrow bar ends mounted on RhinoMoto bar ends specifically for CRG bar end mirrors. You should be able to buy everything together from AF1Racing.com
900$ Is really reasonable labor cost??? You are crazy guys. In EU you pay about 50$ per hour in Aprilia delear service.
Must be nice! You won't find a mechanic anywhere in the USA at that labor price unless they're working out of their own garage as a hobby. $135/hr is very reasonable here, especially for a factory-trained technician. $180 is the common going rate in this area
Music is very irritating... bad choice!!!
🫡
Best video ever for explaining the interface. Haven't seen any big motovlog channels explain this. They're always "the bike is fast you can do wheelies, and it cost too much for you, but it's super fun..." I feel way more confident now when I see one of these on the showroom floor. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful! Hope you're enjoying yours as much as I am mine 🙂✌️

@@hiimchadthat’s what I meant to say 😂
Is it okay to apply front brake while revving
No. But he is not revving, he is blipping
Keeping the throttle open while braking is not good, but the quick blip is necessary for rev matching and when done correctly, is faster and smoother than downshifting without rev matching if the bikes does not have a slipper clutch.
Hi Chad. 2 months ago I bought a Tuono 1100v4 factory with titanium akra exhaust 2018. Same livery as yours. This is my third Aprilia. 99 rsvmille, then the rsv1000r factory 2005 and now this one. So happy with the bike. Engine, sound, looks, ride quality. Should have bought it sooner ;-) Learned a lot watching your videos. Thanks a lot for explaining so clearly all the stuff that's on this bike. Keep posting bro!! Greetings from the Netherlands
Glad you found it all useful! Hope you enjoy your Tuono as much as I have mine 🙂✌️
Did you sit upright or crouch low during cornering and braking? I ride a suzuki naked on track....and whenever i sat up for braking...i was getting blown by wind.
As I begin to close the throttle and go for the brake, I come out of the tucked position and am upright but with my upper body pitched a bit forward still while engaging the brakes. I set up for the corner while tucked, moving to the side of the seat, and then brace what will be my outside leg in the corner against the fuel tank to take some weight out of my arms while braking. This allows for more control of the lever and handlebar. Wind resistance is normal. A more aerodynamic helmet will help, but at the end of the day, the wind resistance at high speeds is part of the naked bike experience, unless you add a windscreen.
Hi, I've a 2015 street triple 675, with the timing set correctly as per serving manual vehicle won't start it's creating a back pressure which is getting released from throttle body. Kindly suggest
Hi! Not sure I understand, are you hearing pressure release as you rotate the crank?
Really helpful tx. what do you think of the recent yamaha and ktm versions? (mt09/10 || various superdukes)?
You're welcome! Out of those, I have only ridden a 2020 Super Duke R and thought it was great overall. Electronics are similar to the ones on my Tuono, if not a bit better. I'm a sucker for that V4 soundtrack though :D Have heard good things about the MT09/10 as well! Definitely would be worth looking at if you're in the market for a naked sport bike.
@@hiimchad yeah i'm gonna have to ride all three, though the yamaha has a real edge on price lol
Beautiful review i heard of lots of leaks is that correct!
Thanks! Not in my experience. The Factory developed a very small oil weep out of the breather for the spark plugs, but it was fixed with a new o-ring when I had the valve service done a year and a half ago. That has been the only leak, and the RR never leaked while I had it 🙂
He man I am just learning about motorcycles in depth.. I got a doubt. When we use quick shift at high rpms the motorcycle makes bang sound , why is it ? My guess is that when the ecu stops some powerstrokes the unburnt fuel in the exhaust is burnt in that few milli seconds . My second guess is that since some powerstrokes are cut off and to overcome the drag and maintain the previous crank rot speed seamlessly , the next powerstroke gets max air fuel ratio , so it produces that paaattt sound ?? Could you please
Most quickshifter systems unload the transmission by cutting the spark. My understanding is that they don't cut the fuel, so some fuel enters the combustion chamber, but is then ejected unburnt, and usually detonates on the hot exhaust pipes, producing the pops/bangs.
Those grippy rear set footpegs are going to rip your boot soles to shreds. Ask me how I know.
Oh this isn't my first set of Attack rearsets, I've chewed up many boots on these type of pegs. The good news is I've tended to ruin my boots crashing before I've gone completely through the sole, so the sharpness of the pegs hasn't been much of a concern for me 😅🥲
I'm curious about felony speeds... I really want to be able to do over 120, but with limited wind protection does it seem like you will get ripped off the bike?
On the track I typically see speeds around 130mph on the straight aways, and yes, it does feel like you are going to be blown off the bike. I'm also 6'3", so the little windscreen may work better if you're of a normal stature.
@@hiimchad Thank you good sir.
Is the cover that goes over the fuel tank just plastic like a fairing? Can’t tell if it’s metal or not
It's not a cover, the tank is a single piece of plastic that has been painted.

I have a question, can I use blue antifreeze for a 2014 model 657 R?
I'm not sure. I run Redline Super Cool in my bike, which does not have antifreeze, but I also change it often and don't keep it in an area where it's at risk of freezing. I would recommend sticking to the manufacturer recommended coolant.
