Think it would depend on WHERE the fire is. If I had a fire on the stove like you demonstrated I would manage to catch myself on fire while attempting to put the blanket down like that. At least with an extinguisher I can stay away from the fire and put the trigger between my forearm and chest to compress it if I was dealing with a flare.

Do you use this in sitting at the edge of a chair or a bed? I guess it must be good to practice either on a shower chair in the shower or in the chair over a floor surface that is non-carpeted :-)

This was great! I am refreshing my skills for a new OT job in phys dis. Do you have any videos about the difference from these boards to using a curved or a banana board? I know there are different opinions about which direction to have that curve! also, here in the UK they don’t use gait belts which is weird for me as a California OT. Do you feel like they are very necessary in some cases? They also sometimes use small loop slide sheets to help with these transfers, but they are hard to find nowadays!

If somebody is that bad off they probably need to keep hands on railings instead of going into a balance position while lifting the gadget, which is now behind them, high enough to clear the next tread. That's what I think of it.

I am a new amputee on my left side I have had a stroke and post stroke my left was very weak and I lost the use of my left arm due contracture now recently I had a blister that got infected in hospital with bacteria and because the infection was changing rapidly and aggressively, I was forced to remove the foot above the knee so now I am trying to learn adjusting to a power wheelchair for mobility.i am working with PT,OT in rehab but I am happy that I found your video. Aaaye we use this method for my gran! She is aggressively independent but she's near immobile at times. We have a nurse that comes out and helps around the house when me and my ma have to work, and she taught us this method! I usually just have a pair of socks prepped like that in her sock drawer and that way she doesn't feel like we're watching and ridiculing her (we would never, but that's her current delusion is that everybody is mocking her)

🙄🤦‍♀️ I think those steps just need to be fixed to meet building codes. Those canes are such huge tripping hazards, as the one person mentioned about breaking ribs, and they're super clunky to get around otherwise. We shouldn't have to tell people with disabilities that they have to lug around their own step stool because someone can't be bothered to meet the building codes almost everywhere, because steps that high are dangerous for firefighters and paramedics trying to respond to an emergency.

For a "things you already have" version if you can't get this where you are- my tattoo artist suggested a rubber spatual to put ointment on a fresh shoulder tattoo and now its my go to anytime I need to lotion/subscreen/ etc any hard to reach spot.

Power recliner is the best option. I am 5 weeks in on recovery from heart surgery. I am far more comfortable in my recliner than I was in the hospital bed. Standing only involves your thighs. Other issue is I can quickly adjust chair if I have a sneezing or coughing event.

I've been using a child-sized beanbag chair that i got years ago under my broken foot and it's great for elevating and support (as long as my leg is in a position where it won't slide around) :P. Also, lifting your trunk up with a triangular wedge pillow does wonders for back pain while your foot is elevated
