Marvelous. I would also suggest a nonslip rug or so outside of tub.
I just finished showering using your tutorial and knee cushion. What a difference in my attitude about this latest injury. Thank you so much for this work you are doing.
It looks very easy but in real life for older person is challenging.!!
Believe me when I say, it was tough for me too. I had been practicing for weeks before making the video.
This is great! My only suggestion is to put a towel or bathmat on the floor beside the tub.
Absolutely, do not slip!!
Great video. I had a recent calcaneus fracture (no surgery needed), no weight on that foot for 6 weeks. My bathtub/shower does not have shower doors/track so I was able to install a clamp-on grab bar on the tub (might work with tracks, not sure). No tools needed. Really helps with the transfer in-out of shower. I'm also using a knee scooter (I park it against the tub and lock it) which gives me extra balance for the transfers.
Very informative and very helpful, thank you.
This is so valuable! I'll be using these techniques when I move to a place with a standard tub. My current apartment has a large corner tub, making the use of a shower chair very tricky, but I think a couple of your tips could be applied here. Also, I've been finding a non-slip bathmat (the rubber kind with suction cups all over the bottom) placed in front of the tub extremely useful to feel more secure in case any water ends up on the floor.
Thank you so much, and have a speedy recovery!
Awesome! Thank you ☺️
Thank you this was so helpful!
Great video and I ordered the shower seat and cushion after purchasing another seat locally that didn't fit. Thank you for the suggestions. Fifth metatarsal Jones fracture; I was in a splint for 10 days waiting to see the Ortho doc. Just saw him yesterday and he put me in a walking boot (WBAT, but I'm taking it VERY slowly) which makes everything a little easier, thankfully.
Thanks for the tips
Nice video. In 3rd week of achilles surgery recovery.
suffering a high ankle sprain from jumping playing basketball at the gym and method 1 really helps me a lot thanks so mich
Update found out I broke one bone In my ankle
Very helpful! I’ve got the same break with the same shoe too actually. More videos with the shoe and thorough processes would be great!
Yes! I’m working on some more!
Thank you so much this is amazing! Just what I needed.
You’re welcome!
THANK YOU
Thank you so much for this!! I sprained my ankle yesterday and i’ve been wondering how am i gonna shower, when i can’t even stand on my leg. You’re a lifesaver 😄
Ouch! Hope you heal quick! Glad to help!
Thanks for making this!
You’re welcome!
This was a GREAT VIDEO!!! Thank you ❤
You’re welcome!
Thank you so much, I am currently wearing the Vive Post-Op shoe after breaking 4 toes on my left foot(1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th toe) and it really hurts to put pressure and try to walk on the foot so I need to use crutches!
You are a god sent thank you for posting this video, it helped me a lot ❤
I’m so glad it helped!
Thank you! We have insanely similar showers so this video worked perfectly.
I’m so glad it helped!
Thank you for this video! New to crutch life due to a broken ankle.
Oh no! Glad this could help!
This helps a lot Thank you!
You’re welcome!
Excellent video! I'm having surgery for a lisfranc fracture and this information is so valuable.
Good luck with surgery!
What if its the left foot and shower head is on the opposite from the one in this video? Getting surgery today
Omg this helped so much ty
I’m so glad!
I have a shower chair. A bimallorial frac of right foot. How would I even attempt since it is non weight bearing? Not trying to injure something that has surgery on it.
I have the same 5th metatarsal fracture, but my tub has affixed sliding doors. My quandary is actually getting IN the shower.
Just done my 5th metatarsal in two places and tore the ligaments surrounding!
I just fractured my 5th metatarsal in my left foot too. Looks like I need to have someone go buy me a shower seat today. Thank you for the video!
Broke my ankle. Only broke the medial malleolus, got lucky. Recently got out of surgery but the splint prior couldn’t get wet. Surgeon and nurses said garbage bag and duct tape work best.
Thankyou for the video.
Oh that’s what a shower chair is. My doctor recommended it & I cried (I have MS)….this has destroyed me mentally as well as physically. Things were going good before this happened. Thanks for showing the shower chair & for the tips
You’re welcome! I’m so glad to help!
The tub seat is what I need. Just broke my foot. However I also have glass doors. It would've been nice to see how to get in and out with the doors still in place especially since my good leg would enter the shower first. But obviously keep the crutches near by. Thnx for these tips.
Don’t trust those glass metal shower doors. That’s what broke my foot…thing came off the tract. Broken foot. Stitches on top….then they got infected. I will never use a shower with a door EVER again. This sucks huh? I never imagined how horrible a broken foot or ankle could be. This has broken me (no pun); both physically & mentally. I’m 28 days in. I honestly can’t do it anymore 😢 good luck with your recovery 💙💙 ps. By day 5, I literally crawled into the walk in shower - I crawled 😭😭 I can’t do this anymore!
@@nyrhockeychick4life655I hope you are doing ok now.
This is very helpful I broke my lower leg ankle & foot 😭 thank you!!
You're welcome! Hope you heal well!
The trouble I have with using crutches regularly is that it caused me wrist hand finger shoulder and ankle pain. I started kneeling to do things but then my knees were getting bruised so I had to wear knee pads. Unfortunately when one leg is not working all the other parts of the body have to compensate that it inevitably leads to joint problems and nerve impingement.
THANK YOU!!!! I broke my ankle on Christmas night, and I live alone. I can't tell you how helpful your videos have been to me, especially this one! I think I watched it 10 times before I took that shower LOL! I've been using a knee scooter, but the dr wants me to start using a quad cane and putting weight on the broken ankle, which is still in a boot. Any tips for this transition?
First, so sorry for your injury! Having just transitioned on my own broken ankle I have to say the most helpful things were wearing a compression sock (20-30 mmHG) on the fracture side to manage the increased swelling from weight bearing activity and using a cane/crutch for the initial few days to work on slow increase of weight until I felt fairly confident. You don't want to limp heavily because that causes a host of other issues. Best luck!
@@EquipMeOT great advice - thank you!
Thank you. Very helpful. I don't see your no back, no arms shower seat or rubber cushion in the comments. Please repost this soon.

I would love to know what boot you have because I need to buy a good one.
I used the MKO sprint air walker boot and liked it because there is a hard plastic piece covering the toe area to protect the toe. The Aircast brand, which I have, is lighter but does not come with a hard toe protector.
Well, now that my cast is off I decided I will not resume showering standing up in the bathtub which is too dangerous overall. I don't wish to slip and fracture another bone. I will permanently keep a shower chair in my tub.
Ouch 5th metatarsal break, they suck. (Admittedly I walked 1.5 miles with that when 12 (that was fun) I hope you recover well.
Also shower stools are amazing. 100% recommend them.
Thanks! So for so good!
Would have loved to see this with the glass doors still on as it's going to be my biggest obstacles
I'm about 4 weeks of recovery with also a fractured 5th metatarsal but on my left leg
How’s that going
I have a Sprain ankle how long should I wait until I can shower
You can shower immediately if you have a seat. Keep the shower short at first because the hot water will make the swelling worse when the injury is new.
I bet you were really good on your crutches.
Unless their injuries included a broken shoulder and rib on the same side, concerning crutches
❤
OMG WE HAVE THE SAME FRACTUREEEEE
Twins!
I have a torn Achilles tendon and wear a cam boot on my right foot. It hurts god
damit
How would u do it with a walker
I put my walker in the shower
Ok sad story I Litterly just had joined track and did an awsome very productive workout…was going home and tripped on a rock breaking my fibula…I’m on day 2 of the cast 😭😭😭
Can I take my boot off to sleep after trimalleaor fracture surgery
That has to be clarified with your surgeon. They make different recommendations.
@@EquipMeOT I trust you 😊 ❤️ 🙏 ur zo pro
Y so detailed?
I put a trash bag over my cast to keep it from getting wet
I’m sitting in my tub just like you are, but the shower is separate. So I brought a plastic bowl up to dump water over me.
Unfortunately this doesn't work well for plus size people but thank you for the demonstration
Not me with a sprained ankle
Tried this and shitted on the floor
In my case it is the right foot so I guess the boot will have to come off .
Somehow I don't think she will like my stand on one leg in the shower technique.
Crutches suck. Knee roller is better. Crutches really suck on a wet bathroom floor.
How do I take a shit with a broken foot?
Or just tape a plastic trash bag around your leg.
How do you do it with sprained hands?
