    Wow it's really nice, i dig that reverse-cracked texture. This strap-instead-of-bracelet trend is really not my favorite though. I think most pieces just benefit from a bespoke bracelet.

      The texture is very cool! I'm with you and almost always want a good fitted bracelet, even if I'll wear it on a strap some/most of the time. I'm looking forward to seeing what they come up with for it. Cheers

    Another stellar review and great watch. A very versatile timepiece - put it on leather and I think it can serve as a dress watch. 200M WR very impressive for a non-diver, but I agree with you that 100M and a thinner case would be preferable.

    Case and strap combination looks very similar to the radia trinity released a while back. Might get the blue one among the 3 , wish they kept the green to the earlier prototype shade thats a lot more vibrant. It seems the final version of the green comes in a muted darker shade.

    Thanks for the honest and complete review. Aesthetically pleasing watch and that light blue dial is terrific. My biggest critique would be the diameter and it just appears a tad thicker than I'd prefer. OK pricing. For me and my 6.75ish inch wrist, 38mm max would be better. At the current size for a field watch it will likely be a pass though that light blue and that texture may pull me in. I almost always prefer a bracelet.

    Love the quality of the watch but not a fan of the box and packaging. The box is way to big and nothing special. I would prefer something like the San Martin round leatherette case, small and classy. The plastic bag is a horrible first impression.

    • @JonathanTReviews
      @JonathanTReviews Pƙed 3 dny

      I appreciate usable/travel packaging as well, but don't personally find the presentation to be bad. The boxes are larger than I'd prefer (environmental and storage purposes) though I appreciate the tissue paper and personalized elements. I agree, the watches themselves and customer service are really where they shine (and I honestly usually forget about even the nicest packaging soon after, however, I have a ton of dedicated storage and travel stuff). Cheers

      @@JonathanTReviews I appreciate what you mean about the watches themselves and customer service. I love the design language of the brand and it really suites my aesthetic tastes. I just think the box/case design doesn't follow in the same vein as the rest of the Henry Archer ethos.

  • @bryanmurphy3035
    @bryanmurphy3035 Pƙed 4 dny

    • @JonathanTReviews
      @JonathanTReviews Pƙed 4 dny

      Very classy. The [bezel] is flush, beveled, polished, and this one was a bit tight. I've turned hundreds and it's certainly not easy in relative terms. That said, as mentioned, trying to turn it under/around a camera exacerbated the perceived difficulty.

    • @JonathanTReviews
      @JonathanTReviews Pƙed 4 dny

      Much of it comes down to the case and bezel construction. If there's a decent undercut, this works with many tighter bezels too. You're right though, so bezels can be a real bear regardless. Cheers

  • @AlexanderB.
    @AlexanderB. Pƙed 5 dny

    It's a nice watch, but I wish it had a different movement. The lack of a running second makes the watch somewhat lifeless imho. The different movement I'm referring to is the Miyota 6S21. It has a running second instead of the 24 hour subdial and a sweeping chrono hand just like the Seiko VK64.

    • @JonathanTReviews
      @JonathanTReviews Pƙed 5 dny

      I hear you, though I'm of mixed feelings. While I generally find the 24-hr dial to be redundant, it can be useful, at least in setting. With mechanical watches dominating my (and most others) collection, the lack of visible movement is always a bit of an adjustment (thinking the movement isn't going). However, my biggest deterrent/complaint with quartz watches is the ticking second. Though it's a personal preference/pet peeve, and it's not as pronounced with a small second (the only way I can tolerate), I still kind of like the tranquility of avoiding it all together. The VK movements consistently prove to be polarizing. Cheers

    • @AlexanderB.
      @AlexanderB. Pƙed 5 dny

      @JonathanTReviews That's part of what I meant, a small dial ticking second isn't much of an issue to me. That said, three of my quartz watches (apart from Casio digital watches) have ticking seconds, and I love them (one Grand Seiko, a vintage quartz Omega and a radio controlled Casio Oceanus)

      The Kickstarter campaign unfortunately closed a while ago. That was the biggest discount price. I just looked and it's presently available for pre-order around $868 through their site. Still priced well below similarly styled options. Cheers

    Great video and thank you for the sharing. Comparing the original sailcloth strap with the new Hydroflex, is there any difference in the quality of the standard buckle system?

    • @JonathanTReviews
      @JonathanTReviews Pƙed 24 dny

      Thanks for watching! I don't perceive a difference in quality, however, I much prefer the buckle on the Hydroflex (which appears to also be updated on the original sailcloth straps, as mine are older). The newer buckle is longer but it's also thinner (top view) and more curved (profile view). I wasn't crazy about the chunkiness of the original buckle and it's flatter than preferred. Cheers

    • @JonathanTReviews
      @JonathanTReviews Pƙed 27 dny

      Thank you! You really can't go wrong with either, depending on preference. The polished damascus is more subtle than typical damascus offerings, however, the pattern is still reasonably noticeable. For me, I definitely wanted the damascus as I appreciate the material/craft and wanted the look. It's not for everyone though and is arguably less versatile/traditional, which is where the polished 904L comes into play. Good luck! Cheers

    • @JonathanTReviews
      @JonathanTReviews Pƙed 27 dny

      @danielday7033 If you like the look, I'd for sure go damascus! It's very well done, a cool effect, and much less common (especially in a polished execution).

    Good review Jonathan, I was keen to see this in differing light and I agree the legibility seems to suffer because of the lack of contrast. A different handset/arabic combo would have really benefitted here for sure 👍 Be well my friend and enjoy the weekend cheers

    • @JonathanTReviews
      @JonathanTReviews Pƙed 29 dny

      Thanks buddy! It fortunately hasn't been enough of an issue to detract from enjoyment or reasonable function, but legibility could definitely be better. I see your conclusions in the review are fairly similar to my gut reactions on you unboxing. The full review has not really changed my opinion. That said, having seen the mosaic version, that I do believe to be a significantly more attractive and interesting version of the watch. Still the concept of the original appeals more to me.

    • @JonathanTReviews

  • @benferris3252
    @benferris3252 Pƙed 29 dny

    Thank you for the review and comps. I 100% will swap the strap out in the event I get one of the mop dials before they sell out, the band and large brushed buckle really feels like it's the biggest thing holding the watch back. The legibility challenges aren't the end of the world given that the dial is more important on a dress watch but it is still enough of an issue to push me away from this variant as I dislike carrying my phone during events where suit and tie are a requirement so that work/calls won't interfere. Lume would be a big plus but another understandable decision to remove as it would dramatically change the styling to be able to incorporate. The sector dial is really clean, case back being as flat as it is is very impressive. I would have preferred to see a brushed case to prevent fingerprints but thankfully the polished finish still works well. Cheers

    • @JonathanTReviews
      @JonathanTReviews Pƙed 29 dny

      My pleasure! For sure, the strap seems to be an afterthought on an otherwise great looking watch. Easily changed, but the same would have been true for the stock choice. The legibility of this one has genuinely been a functional non-issue. Much like my original Aventurine, where the hands can completely disappear, it's more of a quirk than anything else. Worst case scenario, it makes me move my wrist a smidge, and I'm treated to watching the light play across the dial for my troubles (referring to both versions). I would have preferred the original brushing (or a variation thereof) as well, but am with you that the polish works and gives it a dressier feel. In the end, much like the original Nova, I'm still very happy with the model and think it's better in real world usage. Such an easy watch to wear and enjoy. Cheers
