I have been to Cairo years ago. It's really sobering when you get up close to the pyramids of Gaza and contemplate the enormity of all of it. I think they found the structures and started drawing on them. The amateur attempt to carve symbols on one of the boxes is strange. I wonder when that scribbling was actually done?

After watching this great video (Thanks Igor!), what stands out to me is most of the ancient building and structures are in ruins. Even around the Pyramids. There's hardly even a foundation left. Yet the Giza Pyramids are in surprisingly good shape even after looters and dynamite, earthquakes, and how many years? How can one not see this and say this is definitely 2 different types of building methods? If not more? One that works and stands the test of time. And everything else that doesn't. That's why I am not sold that it was the Egyptians that even built the Pyramids at Giza. Maybe they did. But it is understandable to question that theory given what I am seeing everywhere around them.

Great Video, thanks! Most videos of ancient Egypt sites, especially high end produced videos you're lucky to get a brief 5-10 second sweeping view of the sites with a camera. And the rest of the program is a bunch of cheesy actors dressed like ancient Egyptians, and/or its animation. Not even actual video of the sites. This is truly one of "The Best" videos on ancient Egypt I have even seen thanks to the great and patient camera work. Hat's off Igor! One can't help wonder with the terrible produced videos of ancient Egyptian sites, and the terrible narration, if they even want people to get any kind of understanding of what we are actually looking at. The vases are being 3-D scanned and studied by people who today actually work with granite. And the interior of the vases is hollow the complete interior and by design of the vase. In ancient times, most vases only had a "tube like" interior the size of the opening straight up and down, leaving the outer bowed sides of the vase actually solid. With these vases the interior is hollow throughout the design of the vase. No wasted space, and a thickness of granite of about 1/4 inch thick the entire vase. Lastly, the vases would have had to been made in a single pass, start to finish. Again, to achieve the tolerances on these vases that is the only way we know how to achieve it.
