    I had a 9 hour layover in Qatar airport and was told many times that the transfer desk could help me out. It was a lie! Ended up spending 9 hours in a cafe that wouldn't let me sleep. they kept walking around making noise because they didn't want you sleeping inside. I won't be flying that airline or airport again!

    Same with me, i was in doha and we missed our connection because of a 30 minute delay from Munich to Doha, they never gave us a hotel room and at that time covid wasnt there, we didnt get a refund. And also we had to wait 12 hrs.

    Thanks for your review. I was in same situation like yours however they asked us to wait 24 hours in the airport for the next connection. They delayed my first flight for 3 hours and they told that they will give accommodation in Doha. Once we reached Doha, they said they don't have accommodation and have to wait for 24 hours in the Airport. I never ever fly with Qatar in my life time.

      Qatar airways provides 5 star hotels on economy I traveled with them multiple times before covid best experience and best airline in the world

    I have flown this Airline now 10 years and I was very disappointed on 1 July 2022 when the flight was delayed for which my wife and son was on from Dammam to Doha transiting to Durban South Africa. They arranged another flight but like 12 hours later having both my wife and son just sitting in some room. Further the arranged flight was not to the initial destination Durban but rather Johannesburg. They informed them to make their own arrangements until I got on the phone with someone higher up. To make matters worse it's now 7 days and their four luggage bags have not yet arrived with me making hundreds of phone calls to no reasonable solution. 5 star Airline and Airline of the year many times,makes you wonder.

    They just screwed we also. I had a ticket stating confirmed for all connections. Going online to check my seating arrangement the site showed me two flights not confirmed. I called and they stated, sorry there are no seats avaiable. I did a PCR Test, Travel arrangements, Hotel arrangement, Customer arrangements and all that. Now no flight within next 10 Weeks to Australia. Sorry Qatar: never ever again.

    I honestly wouldn't complain something that they give for free... COVID has changed a lot of things. be flexible when you're traveling.

      Be flexible?? I booked my tickets 3 months ago. Then 1 week before my flight, I received the cancelation notice. I already resigned from my jobs before my travel plans (migrating) to Australia... Be flexible??? How unprofessional.. Worst airlines ever.

    Thanks for posting your experience. Qatar is known to be great in sky and not so great on the ground. STPC has not been an option due border closure and this clear on their site. The phone agent really shouldn’t have said the transfer desk will sort you out. The hotel is stupid expensive but you can book a discounted rate for 8 hours by contacting the hotel in advance. Also looks like you did make into a lounge from your video?

      Thanks Aamir. I checked two times with the customer service agents before my flight. Each call was quite expensive as I had to call overseas. We got a crazy price by trying to book the hotel in advance so we figured we’d try what the agent said, ie contact transfer desk and see what can be done. I didn’t make it to the lounge. That’s the waiting area near the gate.

      @@IgorTravelsTheWorld I’m sorry but you can’t say Qatar Airways sucks just because they didn’t let you go to a hotel that doesn’t have to do with the Qatar Airways airplane. By the way Qatar Airways is the best airway in the world (1st) Emirates Airlines (2nd) Etihad Airways (3rd) Qatar Airways has the best service ever I ain’t just saying that, it actually is man come own dawg god ya’ll do me bad man Man

    I have a business class ticket booked and confirmed in May with them I have a 20 hours transit time and I know from calling that the hotel service is not available now due to covid-19. I accepted that because airlines are suffering to keep their staff and their market going for people who really needs to fly for business or school. It's not the airline fault that an economy class passenger wants to have a free hotel accommodation during this difficult time. With an economy class ticket you wish to be served a full meal on other carriers.

      Not how it happened. I was informed on a call that the hotel would be provided due to a 9 hour layover and since I’m not allowed to leave the airport that was a great option. When I found out the hotel wasn’t available, although I was upset, I asked about the lounge. I was willing to pay the large fee to get in, was turned down also. The airline policy at the airport is a mess. Everyone was confused. Their only answer was to send you to a common room overloaded with people and sleep on the floor. I passed.

      @@IgorTravelsTheWorld as I said name an airline that would give a free hotel accommodation for an economy class passengers. You can purchase a lounge access only if it wasn’t already crowded by business class passenger to ensure space for them. Short hotel accommodation are available at 180$ for 7 hours check booking.com. This is the time we should support airlines not demand extra free stuff from them. Good luck in your future travels 🙌🏻

    The same happened to me with Qatar air. And in the Seattle airport, my friend was refused boarding when she has all the correct documents and requirements needed. We actually eventually ended up calling an embassy of the country we were traveling to and the representative talked to the Qatar air manager and demanded he MUST let us travel snd board and that they would put locally make noise if they kept refusing.
    We had to book an expensive hotel in Seattle and pay for flight charges with NO compensation and DENIED upgrade for THEIR mistake and all our troubles and additional costs.
    We are NEVER flying Qatar air again. This also was not my first horrible experience at check in with Qatar. Sorry this happened to you too. Worst airline ever. Be warned everyone!

    It never happened to me by Qatar airways, but Emirates does disappoint me last time with this same issues. I think yeah covid change everything

    I know why it was Covid economy is awful and the business class is not too many people because it is expensive and I go to business class because not too many people there so I don’t get coronavirus so that’s why they’re getting like really angry and stuff like that

      The information should have been more clear and just as I said in the video, I called two times to check with the airline. Those aren’t cheap phone calls either. What I found was a lack of understanding and compassion by the employees at the transfer desk and lounge access. It’s just disappointing because it’s an exhausting flight and you had your hopes set to get some rest. Also, I would have gladly paid $100 per person to visit the lounge if they would let me in but they refused.

      That’s the thing, lounge was open. But they didn’t prioritize the flights with 8-9 hour layovers as they should have. Normally you get a hotel room or access so you can at least rest.
      Instead they just turned us away but I saw others going in.

    How is it their fault when they clearly explain this new rule on the website? They said they "may" be able to help you. So what do you expect?
    You're also travelling at one of the busiest times of the year.

      It’s easy to type from a keyboard but when you land after a long flight and have 9 hour layover- aren’t allowed to leave the airport and expected to pay over $440 USD for 6-7 hours in the airport hotel, you would understand where I’m coming from.

      Only booked it after confirming with the airline that we would be covered. People are tagging on me for me being difficult but you have o understand, I was told by the airline staff on the phone, before the flight, things would be different.

    🤔 unique circumstances which to me looks like it’s a personal decision. Due to my frequent fly out of the region especially to/from the US, Qatar airways one of the best airlines, they were very accommodating and courteous on multiple occasions unlike United or Emirate, and Kuwait. I did fly economy and business class and the service was great.
    I wish you the best next time flying.

      At the same time they completely screwed me and many other passengers who were stuck at the airport for 9 hours. The hotel room price was over $440. That’s crazy. Be happy people are traveling in times of hardship and spending money with you. Don’t take advantage of them. I was directed to a sleeping room full of people and no covid compliance. I chose to sleep on the floor at one point. So I’ll be passing on Qatar in the future. Others may do as they wish.
