    Wonderful video - super helpful to align shingles so they are not caught in wind. I like to wrap the top of last row of shingles over the cap for protections also looks smoother especially if there is a severe pitch.

    Got anxiety watching this. I think the highest I want to be off the ground is my shed roof, and that kinda frightens me too. But it needs shingles and I’m cheap and don’t want to pay someone to do it. However, when the house needs new shingles I’ll gladly let someone else do it 😅

    How is that vent snug fit into the duct? I mean you placed it flush on the roof, but where is the connection between the duct and that vent? Do you have go go to the attic to do that?

  • @user-tr6th8bo5r
    @user-tr6th8bo5r Před 23 dny

    Okay this guy really doesn't know his stuff: definitely "below average". NEVER USE PAPER FELT AS A ROOF UNDERLAYMENT: always go with synthetic or Ice/Water Shield (depending on what local code says). NEVER ATTACH ROOF UNDERLAYMENT WITH ROOFING NAILS; your roof warranty is now invalid, most manufacturers will stipulate it must be attached with cap nails or cap staples. ROOF UNDERLAYMENT ALWAYS GOES OVER THE DRIP EDGE/GUTTER APRON AT THE EAVES AND UNDER THE DRIP EDGE AT THE RAKE EDGE; this is not something that is up for debate but it is a topic that is argued by people who really don't know how to roof. Rolled Starter Course is a vastly superior option to starter shingles: the fact that this guy didn't even mention it as an option tells you how little he really knows.

  • @user-tr6th8bo5r
    @user-tr6th8bo5r Před 23 dny

    DON'T COPY THIS GUY!!!! NOBODY DOES THIS FOR VERY GOOD REASON: YOUR ROOF WARRANTY IS NOW COMPLETELY INVALID. Don't believe me? Call IKO, GAF or any of the other major roofing brands and ask them, this guy is an idiot spreading mis-information.

    My roofer said my plywood still looks good and doesn’t need removal. But offered to add in new plywood for my whole roof for $2k. Now I’m beginning to think they are being lazy. You removed the plywood with ease. lol I think I should back out on adding new if it’s still good

    dude the first piece you installed, the black half... you should either cut it shorter or longer, because what happens is it's exactly the size of the granulated part of the next shingle you will start your course with that overlaps it...and when you nail it (you can see it in the video) you get a big depression where the nail is because the parts to the right of the nail are double layered, it gives less flatnesss to your run
