    Nice work roofing and editing. I know that takes a lot of time. Probably as much as the roof job. Thanks for sharing. Keep the videos coming.

    Why is this so satisfying? I know nothing about roofing and never did it a day in my life...but I’m addicted to these videos.

    Prefer a one tab two tab push when it gets down to those 4" tabs on the ends of your gables, or running into your valleys. But fuckit, it's a shed and itl never leak! Loved watching the change in your body language after you installed the first half of the shed opposed to the other half of the shed, can tell you started feeling it.

    Kinda surprised that you didn't do anything about that seam nail there on the second side, even slip in a scrap piece of the top of a shingle rather than just leave it there

  • @Methodical2
    @Methodical2 Před 2 lety +1

    Why did you install the drip edge over the felt. Shouldn’t the felt go over the drip edge to divert any potential water away from the wood? Also, why did you install a drip edge at the top of the roof?

    • @justaviewerortwo2924
      @justaviewerortwo2924 Před rokem +1

      I was kind of wondering that too the other thing is the shingles that were sticking up. Why did he put caulking or roof? Cement to keep them folded down to look nice with the wind can’t lift them up.

  • @nadealityxd7767

    Good tip for barn style roof bring your sides up to hip then drip edge along hip and start your top from drip then you won't end up with bend in the shingles and having to high nail and it looks clean 👌

    • @dylanstorms8692
      @dylanstorms8692 Před 2 lety +1

      Exactly what I was thinking. I'm 19 just started shingling this year and my sad had me do a shed just like this. The drip edge gives it a nice aesthetic and shingles lay nice and flat

  • @SomeIsBest

    Hey, man. Where do I take the waste shingles when I'm done? Can I take them to the city transfer station?

    • @Average_Roofer
      @Average_Roofer  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Most city transfer stations will take them and have a specific location for dumping them. Call your local dump for more information prior to going. Best of luck!

  • @MetalGuitar06
    @MetalGuitar06 Před 2 lety +1

    550 profit or you charged $550 total. I have a shed roof ther I’m going to tackle myself. Was just curious how much it may be to pay someone else to do it. Probably twice the size as this shed.

    • @Average_Roofer
      @Average_Roofer  Před 2 lety

      Approximately 3.20-4.80 per square to have someone else installing it and supplying materials. Depending on complexity

    How long did it take you to really get good at roofing ?

  • @mr.e7022
    @mr.e7022 Před 3 lety +2

    Getting quotes of almost $400 a square for tear off and replace asphalt shingles. Isn't that too high on a roof of some 7/12 pitch and most 5/12.

    • @Average_Roofer
      @Average_Roofer  Před 3 lety +2

      Depends on your local area but rates have multiple different variables such as pitch, layers, complexity, lengths of hips/valleys, cleanup time, unforeseen damages, dump fees, local material pricing, material availability (some places are currently experiencing shortages)
      All these are factors taken into consideration when quoting a project. Also the contractor is usually basing pricing off their self worth. Cheap isnt always the best in the long run which has been seen time and time again. Usually recommend to get 2-3 quotes, unless you know the company is highly reputable.
