MHW IB: M6★ The Eternal Gold Rush | Kulve Taroth | Insect Glaive - 5'01"86 (TA Wiki Rules)
Wanted to get a sub-5, but the way this run ended really sapped my motivation (recorded this a couple days ago).
Shoutout and thanks to せた for his neat A2 topple punish: czcams.com/video/iJiFP9X-H-A/video.html
Theoretically 4'3x is achievable but the grind for it would be silly. It's near impossible get a 2'0x A1 (when she starts melting the wall) and even a sub-2'20 A1 is rare since an unlucky move or KT hugging a wall will set you behind pace like in this run. A fast A2 + 3 will be around 2'35 (at most 2'40), so you need a 2'20 A1 to have a good chance at a sub-5 run. If you get extremely lucky, you may be able to get away with a 2'30 A1.
----------------------------------------------------------------
A few tips for people looking to run her with TA wiki IG:
A1
- Mostly comes down to luck. Of course, you should perfect the punishes for each move and there's some positional baiting, but it's really up to KT whether you'll have a 2'10 A1 or a 2'40 A1.
- Keep track of the tenderized forearm threshold (you get a feel for it once you run her several times). One reason is you want to prepare the leg topple immediately at the start of A2, the other reason is that I've found it's a good way to keep track of when to get orange extract - when you think she's going to clagger after the next punish on her tenderized leg, get orange.
- The tenderized leg (once exposed) takes a bit over two full DT + tornado punishes to reach the threshold, so a good DT punish with drill plus a ground combo or two should get it prepped for a topple at the start of A2.
- She has a tendency to "overstay" in A1 (i.e. you've done enough damage to get her to move to A2, but she continues spamming attack chains anyways). It's important to stay close when you think she's close to moving. I've found that if you're under her chest during an attack chain, she's likely to follow up with a headbutt which will never chain into another attack if she's ready to move, which may save you precious seconds in A1.
A2
- Clutch onto the right side of her head and immediately enrage her once she reaches A2 and tenderize chest; get the leg topple immediately after.
- Optimized head punish on the topple should get you around halfway through A2; the rest depends on good AI.
- However, you can bait all her favorable moves in A2: stand just in front of her front legs, either under/in front of her head or a bit to the side is fine as well. This often baits her triple head slam (really good), charge into turn around (really good), standing paw slam (really good), or paw swipe (not good but allows you to continue baiting). Bait 2-3 triple head slams/charges/paw slams and that's enough to break the horns. She should move to A3 within one move after the horns break.
- It's important to break the horns in A2 - it signifies that you maximized your punishes on the head and it allows you to set up for the head topple in A3. If the horns are still on in A3, you often have situations where the head topple comes right before the horns break and so you either hit the horns once and it cancels the topple due to them breaking or you hit the chest and deal way less damage.
A3
- Tenderize tail and do one attack to get her to enrage quickly. If you get lucky with crits or if latent power is still active, she'll enrage just from tenderizing the tail.
- After enrage animation, respond to her first attack then try to bait good moves like in A2. Triple head slam spam is the dream, but charge and leaping belly flop are also very good; sideways body slam is okay, tail swipe is okay (you can position with your vault so that the end of the tail pushes you towards her head as you DT).
- For leaping belly flop, get some distance and vault + DT on her head as she comes down (there's no hitbox on the move above her head). See 5'10 #2 below for an example.
- Focusing damage on the head should get you a head topple pretty quickly (3-4 moves). She should die soon after the head topple ends (or during it).
I had like 30+ runs in the 5'1x range, here's a couple of the ones I recorded that show some different situations:

Timestamps for phases/moves below. Had several hours of recordings, decided to compile some clips to go over the main points of this matchup. Not super comprehensive and lacks some of the more advanced details, but hopefully it's still helpful. May add more detailed text notes about sequences/positioning micro/AI in the future. Thanks to everyone who put up with my coping and complaining the past 2 months and watched my streams on Discord. 8'30" seems like the current limit for this matchup (my sum of best splits for each phase is around there). I won't be continuing this grind though, it's time to take a break. I had a couple runs in the 9'30" range that I actually think look way better, show off neat punishes, and h...

IG might be able to sub-9, got a 9'56 where P1 2 was 50s slower than in this run. Back to best monster :) This was one of the last pieces of unfinished business I had from IB. Wanted sub-10 TA IG on Extremoth since a couple months after Fatty's release and have been sitting on a PB of 10'07" for almost a year now. I'm not very satisfied with how I played outside of A4 (had many runs in the past with a faster pace going into A4), but I met my initial goal and I can't spend mu...

The visuals, design, and music are amazing and make it feel like a natural addition to the game and not just modded in. Fun stuff, getting smacked around by fire Alatreon. Still 8s off my target, but my motivation to play is super low and didn't want to sink too much time into this. IG might be able to manage sub-5 on fire-active with an escaton skip and fast mount, even though it's not as favorable as ice (to see the current fastest ice-active IG run, check out dayoshi's run: czcams.com/video/lQdnVuaspNU/video....

Just got to this fight after beating xeno... i cant do shit to this beast, is it possible to solo with only HR gear or should i just wait and get MR. only reason im asking with is because i like to clear every quest before i do the story quest then repeat once more quests come in (also want the cool looking insect glaive)
Wow, what a great video. IG mastery!
thought you'd have post-behemoth build, i get pissed when watching people solo behemoth then go to the build and its drachen armor pieces, as a gs user it relieves me to see that it is possible to beat with relative ease.
how is this guy so calm hitting bahemoth with low health, using an combo that wont let you move that is crazy
congrats on the time!!!!!!!!! wondering what that sick layered insect glaive weapon is
High rank lol It's harder then fatalis
damn, how do you make him not spam charybdis?
As an IG main, I’ve always thought IG was one of the more simpler weapons compared to others. At first I was a little sad about the fact, but after watching your videos, clearly I was in the wrong and it involves a lot of micromanaging (even though the combos aren’t too flashy). Gotta love IG through and through
great video thank you 🖤
That was a solid run! I love watching runs like these with my favorite weapons, just to know it is possible! Just last night I finally soloed AT Velkhana!
Well Nice run!
Your IG play looks much better
very cool falling gold. shades of 4th gen shagaru 😔
Very impressive match. Please tell me what is that armor. I'm quite curious about it.
Awesome run!! thanks for the many videos and commentary. I learned a lot from it.
I'm glad you found them useful! I was hoping the info would be helpful to viewers
Pog run, Kebin 💪
he is BACK
1:19 unlucky t slash :c
also great run
what are them 2 extra slots next to the kinsect buffs?
Kinsect buffs that come from feeding the kinsect slinger ammo. If the glaive you're using has spirit & strength boost, you get both buffs at once.
I have so many hours in this game and still learning new stuff that's crazy. Thank you 💪
that dripping lava ruined the sub 5. amazing run tho 💪🤩 -RITSU

Nice run!

Great fight and use of insect glaive. But, isn't the Extremoth fight supposed to end in the Lava Caverns? How did you get it to end up in Nergi's area?
Behemoth and Extremoth's routing is reliant on partbreaks that occur before the area 2 ecliptic. For Behemoth: 0 partbreaks means he'll move to Teo's area, 1 or more means he'll move to Nergi's. For Extremoth: less than 2 partbreaks means he'll move to Teo's area, 2 or more means he'll move to Nergi's. One small quirk with this is that breaking both horns only counts as one partbreak for this purpose (it's a relevant detail for AED snipe meme MR water CB runs of Extremoth). In this run, I broke both his arms before A2 ecliptic. My old 10'07 I link in the description goes to Teo's nest because I only broke one arm.
@@Alternum Oh wow I never knew that. That's such a good strategy to try to get him to go to Nergi's area. I feel bad because I thought runs that ended up in the crystal area were fake and actually normal Behemoth runs 😅. Thanks for the info!!
hello what is the weapon "alternum" couldnt find it
Guys how do you get the second buff from kinsect? I saw that sometimes he take 2 buffs, i get only one and i have the same kinsect that he is using :/
Charge the kinsect with Slinger ammo
Thought this was impossible with switch axe. Clean run!!!
Is this the most difficult solo fight of the game ? I guess ?
I haven’t played iceborne but I guess it is, with the equipament you have access and the difficulty to solo it yeah
awsome guide But wich kinsect did you use? And would you say the fatalis insect glaive is okay?
How did you tenderize his arms so fast
Shaver jewel. Lets light weapons tenderize in one attack.
Powet prolonger can extended dutration of buff?
Yes
Great explanation!! I’ve never seen kinder and more useful one! Thank you for making such a great commentary 😊
Is this before fatalis update?
This video was from like day 3 after Alatreon's release, so way before Fatalis.
hey i manage to solo Fata with IG using your guide
21:10 that is sooo funny
How come you didnt get hit with that fire explosion when you flew. I am pretty sure that will hit you
what time stamp?
3:17@@Alternum
Nah that doesn't hit, the explosion doesn't reach as high as you think. Though that example is about as tight as you can time it without getting hit - you can see that the character model is just above the hitbox when it detonates.
ow ok as far as i can remember that it can still hit you when you are in the air @@Alternum
if you vault any later than in that clip at 3:17, yes you'll get hit. that's about as late as you can time it and still get it off.
i wonder how many times have you kill it
Not many compared to my kill counts on other monsters - I probably had around 500 kills at around the time I posted this run, which is pretty low for how long he's been out and compared to how many kills a lot of other people have racked up.
which kinsect are you using?? also you have a mod to zoom out your camera more than normal right?
Vezirstag III Forz with ice element on it. And no, camera settings aren't modded, it's natively available in game. All the mods I use in my runs are listed in the video descriptions.
From 0:50 to 0:56 what moves/inputs is that? I've never seen it before, as someone who wants to master ig I must know
The claw attack with the Clutch claw. When you are on a monsters head and use it, it tenderizes their head a bit and will throw them 90 degrees to the left or right, depending on where on the head you are, and it is usually used to position them for a flinch shot. It can be done with any weapon as well, not just Glaive
Why do you use Vezirstag III Forz instead of Foliacath III Forz? I'm IG main but I did not know about kinsect much. I use Foliacath III Forz because it fast. Can you explain for me?
Foliacath was best in base World because of its speed, but that speed became a massive detriment in Iceborne because of the way drill works. You want a high power, low speed bug for high damage drills. With my bug fed and the head tenderized, a single DT into the head can do 95-105 damage per tick with 3-5 ticks, and that’s just with the bug. That means you can get over 500 damage in a single kinsect drill, not including the damage dealt by the glaive itself. The Vezirstag can make up 15-20% of your total damage if used properly with DT. You’re simply not going to get that kind of damage with the Foliacath.
@@GoBlueHTB I got it. I will try Vezirstag III Forz. Thank you bro.
@@Arthur_FGO of course! Happy to help. It’s going to be a bit of an adjustment getting used to gathering extracts with the slower bug, but it’s well worth the work for that extra damage.
I think you were the hammer user who answered my SOS and helped me clear this just now. Thank you so much!
Yeah I probably was haha, you were the guy with the Safi CB right? Was doing a gauntlet of using every weapon with HR gear and running behemoth/extremoth SOS tonight to see how many would succeed. You played very well!
@@Alternum Yeah, I was so impressed when I saw you using HR gear. It's actually kinda funny, because I looked up this video before sending that SOS for ideas on how to beat Behemoth, but then I just decided to get help. When I came back to this tab after the hunt, I did a double take. Anyway, I also saw some of your other solo clears on your channel. You're a legend, and thanks again.
