I've played this song so many times since I found it a few months ago. Thank you for your reaction - it's far and away the best one I've seen to this amazing cover. Country has never been my genre, so even as an Aussie, I've mostly ignored Kasey Chambers, but it's hard not to feel patriotic about this one.

nullarbor means no trees, it's a huge treeless plain that's inhospitable at any time and practically uninhabitable in the warmer months. from what i know they hunted feral pests in the nullarbor in the cooler months and made money performing in the warmer months. anyone that lives on the nullarbor is probably harder than any rapper. and she does have some great songs, water in the fuel is one of my favourites.

During the intro I was just thinking "Where do I know that melody?" Then you immediately made the Conan connection. That gets a sub from me for sure. And you're absolutely right that power metal is all about the headspace. I primarily listen to darker music but power metal gives me such a feeling of escapism when I'm in the right headspace. By ‘slapped together’ I think you might refer to it being more ‘formulaic’ - laid out to appeal more directly to a general audience. I think this was a move away from Dani’s desire for catchier tracks, but half as much as punkier Thornography album. This feels more a return to roots with evolved modern elements.

Unfortunatelly, this is a song that i don't like so much... I like all the BTBAM's songs, but some songs are 'normal' and nothing special. And you did choise this song. But BTBAM is a amazing band. The "problem" is: You have to listening the album, because a music continue in the next.

"Black Gives Way to Blue" was an absolutely beautiful send-off and goodbye to Layne Staley. I just can't do anything beyond that.
