Racing different bikes in different places.
Driving the Nissan Atlas and XR650l to the straight arrow enduro
Loading up and racing the straight arrow enduro.
64 miles of flowing trail with a bumpy bottom. Temperature 95 feels like 105. 3rd in A open, 17th OA. 267 racers. Only 67 finished all 6 tests. Total race time 3:24.
I finally reached the mechanical limits of the stock suspension, and it came of the form of heat. About 40 miles in the front and back just gave up. The oil must be as thin as water at this temp and track.
I went from having a nice plush ride, to the bike sitting so low that the pegs wouldn't clear the palmettos and stumps. The bike became a bumpy, bouncy, low rider.
I still finished the race but I slowed down to B pace. Scores will be up later.

Ride along for the first lap of the watermelon bash harescramble. Last week the bike had the smog kit removed, the gearing lowered, the baffle removed, the air filter replaced, bigger main jet. Ride along while I take my brand new xr650 out to the hare scramble. I picked the bike up from the dealer Saturday afternoon and we camped at the track. I got new tires installed Saturday afternoon. I removed the blinkers, and I removed the passenger pegs. no modifications were made whatsoever to suspension or engine. I finished second out of 10 in the 30 class and 19th overall out of 220.

Just to add... Seeing a current built 650L going through real enduro / hair scrambles. Seeing the results of these competitive races and generally how the ole girl holds up. Engine, frame, suspension as new from the manufacturer. A thorough shake down. 👍 Man I hope Honda keeps production of these.. Un Touched for future riders to experience. Love my 2021.

Not true. I don't just watch the first test. I watch all your videos multiple times. So cool to watch you rip the 650. Wish I had 1/1000th the skill to ride.
Me too. I find myself tensed up, leaning into the turns etc. I also reckon I came off there, there, certainly there, oh and cartwheeled over the bars there too. I love these videos and watch them repeatedly, not thinking I could ever handle a pig like that, but simply in admiration of someone who can and repeatedly does. Mine is a 2012 XR650L Motard set up. It won’t ever see any offroad work as I’m too old and feeble these days.

I've raced mine in the woods. Not much fun, especially when it didn't fit between the trees or in miles of whoops.
Zip ties man, lots of zip ties all around the tire and rim! To get through the event until you can get to a real fix.

@@GlorifyGodInEverything right. That was the weekend it came from the showroom. Then I got a rim lock. This is weeks later, after two more races with top 20 finishes. The tire went flat miles and miles from the truck. How do you know it went flat from tire moving on the rim? And not that it went flat and then came loose from the rim lock on the 6+ mile trip back to the truck totally flat? It's just exhausting how no matter what I post, guys come on here and act like I asked for advice.

The XR 650 is a bad ass motorcycle in my book and alway will be. No motorcycle is perfect by no means n this bike catches alot of flack but thing is Honda built this bike for us on the low end of the Totum Pole n it's well worth the money they want for it IMO

Aftermarket is there.
